Hall & Oates are one of the best pop rock duo groups in the 70's-80's. They had a lot of great hits such as "Rich Girl", Kiss On My List", "Private Eyes", "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)", "Maneater", "Out Of Touch", "She's Gone", "Sara Smile", "You Make My Dreams", "Family Man", "Say It Isn't So", "Method Of Modern Love" etc.
Love me some Hall & Oates! Daryl has one of the most amazing voices in Pop music history. My absolute favorite by these dudes is "Sara Smile". Great choice here Daniel one of their best compositions, and thanks to Harri for his nice reaction. February is proving to be a sweet month for mushy love songs...lol!
From a woman's perspective, DAMN! The mix of confidence and wistfulness, those clever little basketball metaphors, and Daryl's incredibly soulful voice, make this one of the sexiest, most romantic slow jams ever. Top of my list. Pure class.
As a 62 year old man, Hall & Oates is always welcome as a musical selection. They are so talented and the music, well, it speaks for itself. I love to listen to this stuff as much today as I did as a late teen and young adult.
One of the best songs Hall & Oates released IMO. I have soooo many of their albums from the early days up to present. Beautifully done!. Another great pick Daniel Volk, keep em coming brother. Harri, great reaction as usual. Yes, Daryl just has one of the best soulful voices. I really think he is one of the best ad-lib-ers of all time. He can add so much and yet be in the pocket.
This year is their 50th anniversary. From their 1972 debut album called Whole Oats I highly recommend either Fall in Philadelphia or Lily. They are the best selling duo in history, no matter the genre. Legends.
@@greybeard2280 I almost took a song off of Abandoned Luncheonette. I love the song "When the morning comes" Kevin Bacon was on Daryl"s house and did a great rendition. It was just before Tbone passed away. Anyways, Bet you have some great Valentine picks, right? Good Luck. I was trying to get Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood. Not sure what happened it just disappeared. Have a great weekend Pal. 😎😉🕊️👍🔥
Harri, this is a treat! It's late where you are, so it is a nice surprise seeing you just post a video! Cheers and love from Texas. I love your channel! ❤🙏🌞
They’ve written so many songs, hits galore, but also have written songs others have made BIG! Of course the show “Live from Daryl’s House”. Is as cutting edge as it gets!!! Daryl always hits ahead of the curve!
Darryl Hall now has a live tv show called Darryl’s House which is in Hawaii & he invites the singers from decades ago to present- I watched Aaron Neville perform last year - loved it!!
Philly Soul in Harri's house! Daryl and John met at college (Temple U.) in Philadelphia in 1970 and joined up to ultimately become the greatest selling duo in music history! This song was one of their SIX # 1 Hits! A figure that *should* be EIGHT, as arguably their two best songs, "She's Gone", and, "Sara Smile", shockingly did not reach # 1. Great selection, Daniel Volk, you obviously have impeccable taste in music. And Harri, great observation about their signature mid-song sound change-up...another feather in your cap, Governor.
Hall & Oates are brilliant. I have always loved “Adult Education”, which is a funky pop-rock song and then I discovered how many great other songs they’ve created.
So many wonderful Hall and Oates songs. You should check out Live at Daryl’s House- I’m sure you can find it in RU-vid. He had artists in and they live play some of each other’s songs. Some amazing music
Yes Harri they are considered blue-eyed Soul pop. Daryl Hall grew up in Philly the mid to late 60s he was lead singer in a group called the temptones on artic records(among other artists on artic the ambassadors Barbara Mason honey and the bees the volcanos) this would put him in contact with some of the people who would be responsible for creating the early philly soul sound / early Disco(Ron Baker Alen Felder Kenny gamble Norman Harris to name a few) they recorded what many Soul music collectors considered some of the best blue-eyed Soul music ever made. Their records are highly collectible and can go for big $$$$ You wanna hear SOUL check out girl I love you,/ goodbye. Think they cut maybe four or five 45s on artic it's understandable why many years later his music is considered blue eyed soul✌️♥️
Daryl Hall has a series on RU-vid where he brings other favorite and famous musicians into his studio, and they are all terrific but i bring it up because you said "blue-eyed soul" and one of the bands he has come in is the O'Jays, awesome black band from many moons ago and one of the guys says, "if Daryl had any more soul he'd need an afro", LOL. But seriously, you might want to check out Backstabbers from that episode!! Great stuff
lots of vintage old-school organ sounds, eh? and definitely similar to that part in ICGFT! "Everything Your Heart Desires," is a great-sounding one too, from a little bit later in the 80s.
40 years old! 🎂 Produced by Hall and Oates. Written by Daryl Hall. This is the follow up to Maneater. 1 of their great ballads. 😃 Suggested next video 📹 say It Isn't So. Mickey Curry on drums 🥁 RIP Tom Volk, who played bass guitar 🎸 Suggested video 📹 featuring Daryl Hall as a backing voice: INXS plays Original Sin. 🇦🇺 Produced by Nile Rodgers. 🇺🇸
They had the first charting album completely recorded with a drum machine. The Roland Corp had the first commercially available programmable drum machine. That's what you hear on this. The Grandpa of the 808, 909, and countless other programmable rhythm section boxes.
I DJ'd in a club in a college town when this song was current and I used it for a slow dance hook-up song. I sometimes wonder how many of these hook-ups led to a marriage and children who are adults today.
Harri. You look so cozy and toasty in your fleece! 🤗 Love Hall and Oats. Those soft BV's 🥰 Saw them at Birmingham Town Hall in the late 70's. Sarah Smile is my all time fave of theirs 🤎 PS. Is that a TR808?
Been a fan since the early-mid 70’s , when the “ Abandoned Luncheonette” album dropped. Growing up in the Philly suburbs we caught on to their greatness early on.
John Oates recent solo work needs to be reacted to. He humbly took the back seat to Daryl, but his voice is absolutely incredible and could have easily have been the lead in this team of two.
