Hi Shri! If your plug is always on even when the car is off then for those cases this is what I use amzn.to/3BofzJI to control the lighter port manually or the dash cam can also be hardwired to make it turn on with the car and off with the car. Cheers!@@shrimumbaikar2478
Thank you Enfield! Ah yes regarding ceramic coatings, they work but in my opinion I prefer to seal my paint more often that putting a ceramic coating every once every few years, here is the one I used with good results amzn.to/3HRK7Yv but if you want to seal your paint instead (my preferred method) this is what I use amzn.to/3JDD876 Hope this helps, Cheers!
I like your video very informative, I knew pretty much all this information ready I’m trying to figure out is whether my camera requires a two or three wire cable. They don’t offer a hardwire cable from its brand Amazon pairs it with a three wire cable but the plug that came with it was a regular cigarette plug of course but I’m wondering if it had a built-in volt meter to recognize the increase or decrease in voltage when the vehicle is in run or start or running and decode that signal internally I just don’t know
What would you suggest for an old classic car with no usb, no cig lighter & only 5 bus fuse bays all used. Run new power direct from battery with a fuse but not have a acc or hijack the power & acc off of the cd player being I don't use it or run power direct from battery but then use the acc wire from the cd player or amp ? Thanks
Hi F! Well technically fuse taps can be used on older vehicles (as long as the circuit tapped can support the additional load and can provide ACC and another can provide BATT, but I recommend you consult with your installer, some do prefer to run dedicated lines). And here is my hardwire video so you can see the install in more detail ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K2iKXj82354.html Cheers!
Does it matter what hardwire wire kit you get for a dash cam? I just recently bought a rexing V1P pro + and I had a 3 wire Azdome hardwire kit laying around that uses mini USB connection. Will this work on the rexing dash cam? It seems like they are all the same to me. I prefer the Azdome hardwire kit because I can decide what voltage cut off I want instead of 11.8V
Hi Pete! While I have done that in the past (used a different kit) I usually recommend sticking to the matching hard wire for the dash cam (brand matching) as mentioned on the video to ensure that there are no functional issues or issues with warranty coverage. Hope this helps, Cheers!
are you curious about how the dash cam detect hardwire kit to enable real parking mode? are there any teardown information of the 3 wires hardwire kit out there in the wild?
Hi Chumpon! This depends on the hardwire kit brand and type being used. But typically on 3 wire hardwire kits, the way they work is that the ACC wire is used to sense when the car is on or off and BATT is used to allow the dash cam to enter parking mode (if enabled) Cheers!
Hi Miguel! besides the connections they are different in the respect that some dash cams require the use of a 2 wire hardwire kit and some require the use of a 3 wire, they are typically not interchangeable. Hope this helps, Cheers bud!
Hi Joe! Unfortunately it appears Z Edge does not carry a hardwire kit for the Z3D. If they do release one at one point, I will update this comment for you. Cheers!

Well explained, thank you. I installed my b4k dashcam following all the instructions and it seems that it always stays on parking mode. I've set it to timelapes and it records in timelapse whether the car is parked or being driven. What could be the problem. NB: I used a multimeter and checked the wiring.
Hi Youssef Oussaid! you're welcome! ah regarding time-lapse, on most dash cams if you enable this option normal recording stops (no loop recording) as the dash cam records a time lapse instead. However if your dash cam supports both loop recording and time lapse at the same time, then you may have an issue with the dash cam or hardwire kit. I recommend contacting BlueSkySea for tech support for more help, they maybe be able to walk you thru the troubleshooting process and please keep us posted on your findings, Hope this helps, Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun I actually solved the problem today. 1. It turned out that there is a switch that enables parking mode in the hardware kit and 2. The setting weren't correct in my dashcam the timelapse in the menu should be off and the timelapse in the parking setting should be on.

Thanks Alex, got another question for you - I have a wolfbox that's rated 12V - 3A (max). Do you think a hardwire kit that's rated at 2.5A (like rove) would work with that wolfbox? Thanks!
Hi Al W! ah I haven't see that Rove kit, the one I reviewed maxed out at 2A but if the rating on the dash cam is 3A and you have a 2.5A kit, it will not meet it's current draw as the it's lower that the requirement of the dash cam. Hope this helps and cheers bud!
Hey Alexis, I am thinking about purchasing the 4K WiFi Mirror Dash Cam, Veement 12" Front and Rear View Mirror Camera with GPS for Car, Sony Starvis Sensor, Voice Control, Waterproof Reverse Backup Camera, Enhanced Night Vision, Parking Assistance Please advise me which hard wire kit is the correct one to get. Also, do you have a video on hard wiring the Veement 12 " mirror camera?
Hi Gary! I have not reviewed the Veement dash cam so I don't know which kit will work for it, may have to add that dash cam to the list to test. But I do have the hardwire video you are looking for here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uZp95NbNlmM.html Hope this helps and cheers!
Hi Robert! Ah unfortunately I'm not familiar with the Rexing V3 Dash Cam but yes I recommend sticking to the matching (brand) hardwire kit to avoid issues with warranty and/or functionality. The manual that came with your dash cam should indicate the model number for the hardwire kit needed. Cheers!
Hi! As explained on the video while I may be possible to use a different hardwire kit on a dash cam, I usually recommend sticking to the matching hard wire for the dash cam (brand matching) to ensure that there are no functional issues or issues with warranty coverage. Hello Alex, can I use the hardwire kit only to power on and off my dash cam. I dont want to use the parking mode. Can I just hook up the acc connection not the batt?
Hi Ferdie! Most dash cams that require a 3 lead hardwire kit will usually need all 3 wires to be connected in order for the dash cam to work correctly. What I recommend when someone does not need park monitoring, is just to turn it off in the settings menu (most dash cams will let you control this feature). And here is my follow up video showing the full install process if you want to see that ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uZp95NbNlmM.html Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun question for you is there a way to have a separate battery for the camera that will charge itself when car is on? @@ls-33wraith33 Hi LS-33wraith! Ah yes regarding using a power pack instead of hardwire kit, I have not tested myself since I actually prefer a normal cigarette lighter adapter or hardwire kit since here in California we experience really hot temperatures which I would not want to subject the Li-ion battery to, that and the potential for a run away event (fire) during charging or discharging inside the car. Here is an example of a internal dash cam battery and what the sun did to it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HW8jqbl_ayU.html That being said I know some people do use them for their dash cams, so It may make sense to review one in the future for those that really want to stick to a battery. What is strange too, is that most dash cams only pull about 2-3Amps or less if it's not a mirror dash cam, so the battery shouldn't be drained that fast. That may be an indication your battery has developed a bad cell or it's on it's way out, I would strongly recommend getting it tested to confirm it still good and avoid getting stranded one day. And here is the battery tester that I use ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kCNrfa8RUKU.html Hope this helps, Cheers!

Hi Adeiton! Ah good question, there is no command send, on 3 wire hardwire kits the Dash cam will detect all 3 wires connected (ACC, BAT and GND) where on a cigarette lighter plug it will only detect 2 (Power and Ground). I have the Kingslim DL12 Pro 4K Mirror Dash Cam and rove hardwirekit. I have installed in my GF truck and it’s works perfectly fine, no issues. I also have it installed in my Honda Civic and the dashcam been having lots of issues. It will reboot itself constantly. Sometimes it goes to parking mode when I turn on the car. I’m not sure what’s causing it. I want the dashcam to be on 24/7. It works fine on the truck, but on the Honda Civic. It will go bad within a day or two after being on 24/7.
Hi WaveGod! I have not reviewed the Kingslim D12 yet (may have to add to the list of dash cams to review) I typically recommend sticking to the matching hardwire kit for the dash cam, but unfortunately Kingslim does not have a hard wire kit for them which is why I understand why you are trying to use a different branded one. However as I explained in the video mirror dash cams are power hungry, double check the AMP requirement of the D12 to make sure you are not exceeding it (which can lead to the repeat rebooting) If the D12 uses Mini-USB, you may have better luck with this kit ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_MlRJ2_cd2o.html Hope this helps bud!
@@AlexAutoFun I will try this out, thanks. I just find it odd how it works perfectly fine in a different car but mines. I was think add both ACC and BATT cable on constant power and see how it goes. I’m afraid it will damage my cam or battery. Maybe I will just wait till you do a review on the dashcam and use it with a hardware kit and see for yourself if you have any issues.
Hi Chanaya! Correct, there is a difference, since "smart" is a marketing term, it can mean a couple things, most of the time it means that the hardwire kit has a low voltage cut off to prevent the kit from draining the battery where on basic hardwire kits sometimes there is no cut off so those can potentially stay on pulling power the car until the battery is fully drained. Cheers!
Hi FedjkJ! A few dashcams do not have their own hardwire kit or do not support a hardwire kit. Based on what you are telling me sounds like that may be the case with yours. If you want to further double check, see if you can reach out to the dash cam's manufacturer to confirm. Cheers!
Hi Ratalala! Good eye, some cables looks very similar if not identical. Specially power cables are pretty generic, so they are likely manufactured by several suppliers and then they are sold to the end brands to relabel them or to pack them with their respective products (in this case dash cams). But yeah that is the current industry for you lol Few companies are now vertically structured, most are horizontally arranged now. Cheers!
Hi axenz! While it's possible to do so, most installers won't do this for safety and also in most cases dash cams that use hardwire kit, using the original adapter permanently connected to the car will keep the dash cam running all the time (parking mode will not be enabled, no low voltage cut off protection etc.) Hope this helps, Cheers!
hi there, if I have one of those hardwire kits that have the 3 wires (red, yellow, black), how do I connect it to a battery directly? Do I twist the red and yellow together and attach it to the poz terminal of the battery in order to get my dashcam to work? The scenerio here is attaching the 3 wire hardwire kit to a battery on my motorcycle so I can power a dash cam. I am not worried about a key starts but want power always on since I will be removing the dashcam from my bike every time I'm finished riding. Therefore will only attach to my bike when I go riding so constant power is fine. Thanks
Hi T C! To be honest, I think an action camera maybe more appropriate for ease of install vs a dash cam, dash cam cables, hardwire kit, hardwire kit cables, externa battery. But it is possible if your installer is up to the task (the number of wires to be connected will vary depending on the hardwire kit being used but yes they should all be fused just like in a normal vehicle install) Cheers!

Hi Regret TV! The cigarette lighter plug will not enable parking mode. In order to enable parking mode, the dash cam will need to be hardwired (as mentioned on the video, preferably with the correct matching hardwire kit) Hope this helps, Cheers!
can you hardwire without the hardwiring kit? Like just cut the original wire that comes with the dashcam and just add it to a fuse that turns on when the car is running?

For my dash cam to run a 24/7 parking mode, is it necessary to have the 3 lead hardwire and have the batt lead to be contacted to a constant fuse slot? Or it just depends on the model of the dash cam and could possibly use the 2 lead one? Thanks in advance!
Hi KLN! Correct, as explained on the video, I normally recommend to use the hardwire kit that was developed for your dash cam instead of another. Regarding how long it park mode can run for, this would depend on the dash cam model you have, I would recommend referring to the instruction manual that came with it to confirm. Hope this helps, Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun I am using a nextbase522 dash cam. As I can find so far, they only officially produced a 2 lead hardwire kit. I want to have the parking mode on whenever it detects any motion. in case of 3 wires connection : when the car is running , the power is coming from the generator ( ACC WIRE) not the battery correct ? this important to know because i want to use a cuterr swich so i can turn the dashcam on through this switch while parking in the time that i want , not 24h. so i connet this switch to the ( BAT) wire coorect ???
Hi Googoo! There are several versions of 3 hardwire kits out there so it may be possible that they don't all work the same (your installer should refer to the instructions that came with the kit for correct wiring). But typically ACC and BATT are used together in order for a 3 wire hardwire kit to function. The ACC line is used to tell the dash cam when the car is running so it can turn on and record. The BAT line is used to tell the dash cam that it is hardwired and to enable parking mode. Here is my follow up video showing the installation process in more detail ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uZp95NbNlmM.html Cheers!

Can you just wire the red and Yellow wires together if you cant find a acc connection? I dont see a purpose for the acc wire other than to detect when the engine is on or off but i still dont see how tieing them together could change the functionality.

You're welcome Hellbent 706! Ah that maybe a possibility, it would depend on the hardwire the installer uses, most of the time 3 lead hardwire kits need all 3 leads connected to their respective places for them to work correctly. Garmin didnt just "put something inside" to make it work with only Garmin. To enable the dashcam to enter parking mode it has to "talk" to the dashcam. There are only 4 wires int he USB connector. 2 are power, and 2 are data + and -, which is the USB differential pair to carry data. Therefore, it would need to send a message to the dashcam that the power on the "ACC' or switched lead went away. The only proper way to do that is via the data lines, and just like USB devices that plug into your computer, each needs an ID. So it's not just the Garmin that "put something inside", its ANY dashcam that would enter parking mode. Long and short is you need to stick with your brand for the hardwire kit.
Hi James! ah yes I originally thought that was the case until I did a tear down on it and found only 3 wires are being used (ACC, BATT power, ground) Basically dash cam manufacturers are not using the USB connector according to the standard we are used to (with data lines for communication) What's inside the Garmin kit turned out to be a resistor (value has also been identified by other users) that is placed in between two positions in the connector end of the kit (inside the overmold) The resistor is only found in the Garmin kit as other kits of other brands do not have it so I fully agree with you on sticking to the brand that matches the dash cam you are using. Here is the follow up video showing the inside of the kit, check out the comments section to if you want to know the value of the resistor and position ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RoiQ-Xvr09M.html Hope this helps, Cheers!
