I was driving down 80kp/h section of a freeway the other day and see some flashing light about 100 meters behind me. Move out of that lane and almost instantly someone else behind me merges in. The Ambo took about 2 minutes to catch up and was right on him before he noticed. There are some brain deads out there.
The swerve into the service lane at (about) 21:25 to avoid an accident was a GREAT piece of defensive driving - driver was alert, had an escape plan, and executed it well - well done!
@@probablygraham this one was really tame. There was one recently where “f*&king idiot” was said so many times I started to think it must be a special “f*&king idiot” episode. Actually an annual swearing cut would be fun… might be a bit long tho.
How fantastic was that school boy with the child in the middle of the street! He might have saved that little girl’s life & then blended back into the world. Well done.
There was the guy in the other vehicle too. She might have said thanks, but we just didn't hear it. Do you really think most people would have ignored the kid?
No one’s talking about the kid in the middle of the road. That scared the crap out of me. The amount of stories we used to hear about that happening. Thank goodness everyone stopped and helped.
@@RU-vidTookMyNickname.WhyNot Maybe he was scared of getting accused of something...had he picked the child up? When he saw two females taking charge he just left them to it.... and they were too busy to notice him and his dithering?
Blokes have to consider things like "what if this is misinterpreted" all the time. Years ago, I was out walking the dog and found a young kid in nappies completely alone outside in a quiet side road, drinking from the gutter. First thing I did was immediately flag down the next vehicle that passed and straight-out told the middle-aged woman driver "I need a witness please" and she understood immediately why. Cops were called. Turns out some teen was too busy playing computer games and not babysitting, so kid had gone for an explore.
Totally. When people just walk out on a road expecting multiple cars to stop is infuriating. But, so many drivers don’t give way to pedestrians when they are supposed to. People!
Maybe the case, in these times though he's old enough he might cop shit about trying to kidnap the girl or something. Imagine the babies mum came out of a car/house as he was picking the baby up... at least in the case of the girl and then the mother, the baby's mum probably would have reacted gratefully... anyway, just sayin
0:35 Unfortunately it's a skill you pick up after a while driving in Australia: learning to tell the difference between a driver who's drunk, a driver who's asleep, and a driver who's beginning to come down off a big meth binge.
Yeah, but sorry kid you're not worth of the task, the girls are here now and infinitely more capable of handling the situation. so get lost. Not even a bloody thanks! No wonder he looks confused.
@@owainbennett6388 if I were that kid and got accused I wouldn't even know how to react; I'd be too confused and stunned as to how trying to help a kid makes me a sexual predator. Social suicide. in high school i never stood up for myself, teachers called up my parents for drawing guns in school. it wasn't even guns being used to shoot classmates or teachers or anything like that. literally something you'd see in a call of duty menu screen, that's all it was. but that was apparently concerning enough that they had to ring my mum up. ironically a few years later some kids got radicalised and went off to syria to fight for ISIS. principal held an assembly about it and everything lol. meanwhile, i now have a gun license and am an even bigger gun nut, and out of petty spite, at a class reunion I made sure to let the teachers that were involved in calling my mum up know that I had a license, while congratulating them for stopping those kids going to ISIS lol
@sourand jaded "but all i saw of guns was that they killed things. all we had them for. kill things" I find just shooting guns at a range a great way to blow off steam. you haven't lived till you've tried firing a hk51... some people grow up with guns and like you, shun them when they're older. other people grow up with guns and start their own collections, or end up being pro shooters. To each their own indeed. But my issue is how I didn't even draw anything that could be considered disturbing or concerning. A gun is a tool, and like any tool, its use is dependent on the person that picks it up. But according to my teachers, I was more of a risk than the people that got radicalised and joined ISIS! hahaha the irony. You're goddamn right I rubbed it in their fucking faces years later. People have had their lives messed up for less.
5:37 if that cops checks his dash cam he's gonna make his ticket quota for the month without even trying, ~$500 fine for failing to give way to an emergency vehicle, there's at least $3,500 in fines there
I really must read the road rules again, so many have changed it seems: give way doesn't mean give way, red lights mean green, solid white lines mean its okay to overtake or do U-turns, unrestricted U-turns at traffic lights and so many more.
@Ian Morris 😂 you forgot: right signal means turning left, right turn only means straight through, and overtaking a turning vehicle (not paying attention to trucks) is perfectly safe. 👍 Have a good one.
You forgot another rule that was recently added: All utes can do whatever they want on the road (or footpath, or bike lane, or break-down lane) to get to the next job or the bottle-o

11:58 - great braking by the KIA. I feel like a lot of people don't realise cars can brake this hard... half-assing the braking whilst also blasting their horn still resulting in a hit

What i as a european learned from your videos from australia is: 1. Stopping at a red light is only an option 2. The lights or the siren of an ambulance mean nothing 3. Your swearing sounds amazing 😃
8.15 - That Prado driver deserves an award for reacting so fast. Not many people see that far ahead! Everyone with a licence needs to be this smart!👌 Edit: and 12.01
couldn't tell with the kia at 12:01, looked like autonomous emergency braking. while a driver could be alert to foresee this, I can't see that reaction time coming from a human.
When you give way to an emergency vehicle at an intersection and some deaf-blind mofo runs into the back of you 🤬But also when the emergency vehicle was already stopped at the intersection and THEN turns on its lights and sirens, and you run into the back of someone who stopped but you were looking for what direction the siren was coming from 😩
there's no point getting mad at others' stupidity it don't help any, when i start driving i think what a wonderful world we live in. sometimes i just laugh and the other person looks at me like i'm the crazy one. ENJOY ya life people don't stress out.
It's a little hard not to get stressed out and keeping calm, watching idiots behind steering wheels that don't know the road rules! Honestly they should be on a bus 👊👊🦬
We have an intersection like the one at 5:16 here and people think they are doing a favour by allowing space for someone to turn right (there's no Keep Clear zone) when all its doing is encouraging people to break the law into a blind right turn into 2 lanes. Its funny as people get angry at me for *not* leaving a space - yup they can thank me later for them not getting wiped out!
Damned if you do, damned if you don't! It is an offence to block an intersection. Onus is on the driver that is making the turn to ensure that it is safe to do so. Secret is to think that there is a 'dozer blade coming at you, and you need to cross so that you do not get hit by the 'dozer blade. That means inch forward, not go at speed!!!
As @Jacare 111 said, it is an offence to block an intersection. You may or may not get thanked - but one day, you will get fined. The absence of a "Keep Clear" sign is not relevant. No intersection can be blocked (The Keep Clear sign is only there on those intersections that have received the most complaints.)
To clarify, at that side road coming onto a main road which is controlled by a Give Way sign (at 5:16), is considered an "intersection"? Therefore those 2 cars behind didn't have the right to move up? If I may ask please, would you know the code / rule for this on a government site? Thanks! I'll note on the crash compilations a significant number of actual crashes are from a car turning right across multiple lanes from a side-road. The car being hit can't see incoming traffic, and vice versa!
Drivers just need to realise they still need to pay attention. Some people mistakes the "I'll let you go through " wave, with the "It's all good to go wave". I do leave a space but don't wave anyone out unless it is actually clear for them to go, just in case. I would never blast through a gap like the drivers appearing here do, it's crawl out until I can see the road is clear. Many years ago this did happen to me, I indicated to let the guy know he could pass in front of me, but he read that as "Thunderbird's are GO!" and blasted out of cross street. He had a small bingle but I was long gone by then.
2 days ago I was behind a driver who decided to stop on the crest of a hill blocking 1 lane of traffic, absolute tool. He waved me to go around him, I refused a beeped him. Glad I didn't as there was an oncoming car I couldn't see until too late. A-hole still refused to move. Who randomly decides it's a good idea to just stop at the crest of a hill blocking a lane ? Boggles my mind.
Okay, it all makes sense now. When the lane is tapering off, it's okay to run the person in front of you, off the road. It's also okay to run them off the road at a stoplight, roundabout, and a freeway exit. You guys are way cool down under. I'll be sure to rent a car while i'm down there and participate in the road chaos. Love it. Seriously, you guys have some problems down there. No more than here in the US but DAAYYYUUUUMMM!!! I held you Aussies to a higher level when it came to driver training. I was obviously mistaken.
Not sure how it is in australia but in the uk you can be a learner for years and ride 125's on a learner permit. My mates been riding for years on his.
I mean yeah, but I have to disagree because it’s highly recommended to finish your driving (car) test first and then Motorbike test so you know headchecks and the dangers. But that’s just me

@@holgerlubotzki3469 nice one, and spot on! One of my favourite memories from my Jakarta days was an on-the-spot punishment the police once handed out to our driver - push-ups at the side of the road!!
Amazes me how many people wizzing thru built up areas do the speed limit because they can. They don’t seem to consider volume of traffic or congestion or potential risks. They just go.
Pretty rare to see clips of accidents being caused by emergency vehicles. They should really considering putting flashing lights and sirens on those things so people expect to suddenly stop at intersections and traffic lights.
my mum used to have a fridge magnet that said "if you don't like my driving stay off the footpath" but I never thought there were actually ppl out there taking that to heart
There was something satisfying about the dude not stopping for the kids on the roundabout lol. That one idiot jumping when he tooted was perfection lmao
00:01 And it STILL baffles me as a retired truckie as to why the 'Do not overtake turning vehicle ' sign is on the left-hand side of the trailer, that being said, there needs to be far more education regarding safe motoring when in the presence of a heavy vehicle. Looking at the footage again it tells me that that is an inexperienced truck driver that had ample room in the middle of the intersection to drive before swinging right.
I have a feeling we'll see that car down the track with a few more dents in it than before. It wouldn't be the first time this show has had ongoing characters.
10:10 WTF were they intending to do? Cross 3 lanes of traffic, to have to then walk a further 50 meters up in a traffic lane to get to a cross-able section of the median? Why didn't they cross further up so they can just walk straight onto the median!?
I believe if dashcam videos are clear enough for an offence, they should be submitted to the states department of transport for analaysis. the owner of that vehicle is fined, unless they can supply the driver details. This would be a cheaper option than fixed cameras. Bottom line is, behave on the roads & then no probs.
Any of these videos can be sent to police but they need to be accompanied by a witness statement from the dash cam operator. The DC operator also needs to agree to attend court and give evidence if the (alleged) offender challenges any penalties imposed by police.
@@AnotherDoug I agree with you. BUT there are so many different departments, eg who controls mobile speed cameras, who controls fixed speed cameras, who controls point to point cameras. We do not know. Maybe there should be a department that specializes in all traffic infringements, a specific traffic department. Rather than all over the place.
@@petert24turner71 It isn't all over the place. Your original question was about dash cam videos. They go to police as I've explained above. All speed cameras (fixed, mobile & average) in NSW are managed by a specific department: Transport for NSW. Let me know if you need same info for other states/territories
@@Cheepchipsable maybe not. They send the notice of offence to the vehicle owner who pays the fine and loses the points unless a stat dec is supplied identifying a different driver
little old lady emerges from a bush causes traffic to jam to a halt, ends up in there being a traffic collision, then she subtly retreats back into the bush, never to be seen again, zero accountability. If its not a little old lady its someone else, sometimes in a car, all these people who trigger these events then vanish off into the wilds are so frustrating. If only some justice could be brought to bear on them anyone notice at 22:20 the guy doing the u turn across the solid line floors it when the cops light them up?
The car behind that hit them shouldn’t have been close enough to hit anyone incase of an emergency brake :) The old lady is old, she did look both ways but because her timing is so slow the car was already approaching when she looked the opposite way and was ready to walk out. I feel so bad for her.
Yeah, I have to agree with Shania. In a shopping car park, you kinda have to expect people (especially kids) are going to jump out in front of you from out of nowhere. And it's not like the car in front was travelling at 110 on the freeway and suddenly stopped. There's no good reason for the car behind to have been traveling either so close behind or not paying attention. The old woman is probably half demented anyway, so what are you going to do?
When you are her age and in her physical condition, let us know how easy it is. It was a 20kph zone and the only person at fault is the car driver who wasn't paying attention. I'm tired of these people who want to exonerate poor drivers.
@@miepmaster25 When she was raised the streets freely belonged to pedestrians and any velocipedes, horses and early automobiles had to always give way to them. The car lobby sought very quickly to change this and privatise streets for the much more dangerous cars unfortunately.
What I hate the most is when drivers get aggressive instead of defensive and end up just escalating the issue because they're too stubborn to slow down.
I have been caught out by before by the multi-lane roads and interchanges in Aus but sometimes you do really wonder about whats going on inside peoples heads. Have noticed more and more crazies on the road or maybe that's cause we locked them away for awhile haha
I did notice a distinct rise in bad driving during/after the 2020 lockdowns... My guess is there were a lot of people who only ever drove in rush hour & peak hour traffic, to & from work, who suddenly had a lot more free time to drive whenever they wanted and the lack of heavy traffic keeping them in-check went to their heads, so they now just do whatever they want, bugger everyone else.
The lack of situational awareness, no ₣ϋʢӃs given about road rules, zero clue how to cross the road and just downright suicidal maniacs on our roads are on the rise. Good luck out there people, you're gonna ₣ϋʢӃen need it!
This whole "indicate to the non-final destination" at 17:55 is becoming increasingly common and is honestly the dumbest thing to have ever started. Not to mention the people putting hazard lights on to indicate that they are reverse parking. Indicate to the space you will be going to and everyone else will understand (it's the road rules), it honestly isn't that difficult; instead you just confuse everyone.
There was nothing wrong with the indicator used by the other vehicle to show he/she was moving to the right. It is the absence of a left indicator and failure to give way to the DC vehicle that is the problem
@@AnotherDoug Yeah exactly, that's my point. The situation I'm detailing is the absence of an additional blinker to indicate that you will be turning back into the right-of-way.
I assumed the turning car was about to back into the carport/whatever on the right, not the driveway on the left, but still, should have stopped, waited for the car to pass and then made the manoeuvre.
It's insane how many red lights get ran in Australia. Here, people will rush to get through them as they're turning red, at most. But Australia? What is red? 😂
Watching the driver attempting to park at 17:30 was painful, if they can't reverse a car properely then what is the point of holding a licence and more pertenantly do they actually hold a valid licence?
I don’t understand how its so hard for people to park any car after 2005. Aren’t all the sensors and cameras meant to make it easier? If so, why does it take others 5 minutes to get their yaris into a park but takes me 20 seconds to perfectly reverse park my dual cab ute from the 90s with mirrors the size of a coke can and where power steering is considered a feature?
@@themindboggler8055 good points. Also, given that most cars have had auto headlights for years, why do you see so many late model cars about with no headlights at night/dusk (or just their daytime running lights)? I suspect you can't fix stupid.
@@doctorbohr1585 i think i actually know this one. I’ve driven a few new vehicles that my workplace has. The dash illuminates no matter if the lights are on or off. So because at dawn/dusk you can see outside, because the dash is lit up there is no incentive to turn the headlights on. My car isn’t that fancy, the lights have to be on for the dash to illuminate.
@@themindboggler8055 yeah, the constantly illuminated instrument cluster doesn't confront you with pitch black darkness! Yet, in my experience with a couple of 2015-ish cars, the auto headlights function is always engaged by default, and you have to actively disengage it. That's the factor that boggles my mind. Perhaps not all models have "auto" as the default position? Still, can't people see that things are a little bit too dark?? Idk, bro, people seem to turn their minds off when they drive. Simple things just don't occur to them.
At the 10-15 minute mark I thought fuck, lot's of pedestrians wandering on the road in this one, then bang, you finish with a wandering baby. Top notch.

I also live in the EU BUT when I drove in Australia (and S.Africa) I automatically drove on the left. I think it is because I sat in the right hand seat which tells my brain to keep left......
24:51 Some of the foreigners watching this may not completely understand the stupid driving in this section of highway beyond the straddling of two lanes. Australian highways - especially near coastal areas - have uphill passing lanes that allow faster moving vehicles to pass slower-moving heavy trucks in these areas. This is mostly because the government rightfully cannot afford to build 4-lane carriageways everywhere. Australia is a country as big as the continental United States with a population of less than 10 percent of the US. Straddling the lanes dangerously impedes the flow of traffic and generally pisses off other drivers bigtime!
We have the same passing lanes on many federal highways in Germany. The difference is that here the passing cars have to get back to the normal lane at the end. In Australia everyone has to get in the (former) passing lane at the end. Can't say which is safer because stupid drivers will always do stupid things.
@@Sellerieknolle76 Are you saying you pass on the outside lane in the German equivalent? I'm struggling to understand exactly what you mean in your comment.
