@The Doctor Emotions? You mean those things that are either our brains going haywire or the curse of a creator god who needs us to suffer? Yeah, "malfunction or Q again".
+ArmoredChocobo It's definately funny cos it's from Curley from Three Stooges. A lot of people tend to manage to do it and replicate it but it made the scene more funnier. Specially the "OH....SHIT!" scene.
The crew's (actor's) reactions are genuine. The script simply said for him to sing the lines, so he "came up with a little melody and enhanced it a little bit." They loved it, so the director used it.
Damn I wish I'd been alive back then 😅 I bet it was a great experience to watch it in cinema with other fans. I've only ever had that with Avengers Infinity War and Endgame.
@@erinocelotl3578 The only other time ive seen that happen is Star wars episode 3 (when vader appears at the end) and The force awakens when we see han and chewie
I think my funniest scene from this movie was when the saucer section began to plummet towards the atmosphere, and Data pretty much speaks for everyone's reaction when he says, "Ohhhhh shit!"
@@texasbeast239 omg lol , don't tell me that was the USA? 🤔, They really need to get over things after all it's 2022 nearly 2023 , not the 1800s. He'll in the UK most light swear words are on all day , after 9 anything goes, even the nudity etc. I find it amazing that shit is a problem but Americas favourite word asshole is on 24/7. Well as they say " two countries separated by a common language" well mostly 🤔🤙🙏 PS surely they can't do sweet FA about streaming, Netflix etc if a film has swearing well that's what I get? I remember being out there in a car listening to radio and they used every world under the sun at 1pm ,I said to my cousin wtf was this turns out Howard Stern's a satellite radio so rules don't apply🤔
0:14 Riker is like: "Oh really. Mmkay." 0:19 Riker: "Well, that was a new response." 0:21 Riker: "Is he SINGING about...? 0:30 Riker: "The hell is the matter with-- Well, long as it works." Jonathan Frakes was perfect in his ability to use body language and facial expression to add to an already funny scene.
Good points. What I was most impressed by Frakes was how, even though he directed First Contact, he never stole a scene. He had Riker be the boring second fiddle to Picard or the "straight man" to Geordi or Deanna, letting them get the best lines, central placement on camera, and the acting opportunities.
That was actually ad-libbed. He was supposed to hum in this scene, but he just kinda ad-libbed it and the director was so amused he just kept the scene. Those looks everyone is giving him, they are legit because it was completely unplanned.
Preace Amerson I remember watching a video of him at Comic-Con saying he had rights to this song and at the time had a lawsuit worth $25 if he wanted to pursue it.
My favorite part is Data's grin when he enters the bridge. He has this look like "I could break all of your necks within half of a second, but...naahh you're all so fucking amusing lol"
Data is the best tng character by far, by being not human he manages to be a better human than anyone else on the entire ship. He is the spock of tos, the odo of ds9 and the doctor/7of9 of voyager.
This wasn't a great Star Trek movie (First Contact is amazing though) but this scene - this scene, it's just hilarious. Brent Spiner is known for being a goofball, very different from Data, and this is just a perfect example of that. Not just his whole little routine with the hand clap thing, but the reaction of the crew especially Riker's raised eyebrow thing. "I just... love scanning for lifeforms." X-D
+Shanethefilmmaker We would all know if Lore came back. People would randomly vanishing one by one their bodies never to be found. Along with unknown damages to the ship. No doubt he would want the whole crew dead.
I remember this scene in theaters back in 1994 (I was only 9 at the time). Everyone giggled from beginning to end, but I couldn't stop laughing. Luckily I kept my hands over my mouth.
Kaiya Thomas ring finger and rude finger on both hands, snap them like a normal finger click one after the other, one hand then the other, then make a fist and cup the other hand over top twice. In rapid succession
I gather the song is improvised in the moment. According to the cast and director, he was supposed to simply hum a merry tune, but when Mr Spiner did this performance, it was so good it made the cut. The look on the other cast's faces were genuine; they were surprised.
During an interview, data revealed that this was off script, and apparently, the song belongs to Brent spinner, because he improvised the whole thing... it’s a song... he... composed.
And you know that even though he's singing and playing music on the console, he _is_ setting up a damned good way to scan for life forms in the process. He's an android, after all. Multitasking is his specialty.
I've always been frikkin' jealous of people who could do the hand gestures/snap-crackle-pop (whatever you want to call it) at the end, most of them aren't even Trekkies. -,-
Okay I know I am gonna get screamed at for this but here we go… I am a bigger Star Wars fan than a Star Trek fan HOWEVER I can’t stop listening to Data (my favorite character in S.T) play this song.
No, a hyena on NO would probably chitter for a bit then crumple to the ground in a heap of bliss before passing out. I think you're thinking of ammonia or something.
have you ever watched confused matthew. he basically said this scene is so insulting to data he did not even want to talk about it.(he hates this movie.)
