Such a great reaction! Dave not only won an award at this award show for this song, he also won an Ivor Novello award for it which is an award for music composition and writing. He won an Ivor Novello for his song Question Time too, you should react to it, its one of his best songs imo and is still relevant today.

Yeah, that was a sad event and I have a handful of friends over in the UK so when the bridge incident happened i was checking in with them to see if okay. Fom that point on, I was watching the coverage which sadly ended in such a tragic way.

Dave is the most talented rapper around no doubt, the lyrics resonate and really make you think about it. This song and this performance had a bigger impact on my understanding of racism than anything I have seen. I’m not racist and have many friends from different background and cultures but I am certainly ashamed of my own ignorance to how people are treated differently for the colour of there skin. I believe this is down to my own upbringing and the fact I have never recognised skin colour in my eyes everyone is equal and that has made me blind to seeing people being mistreated for there skin colour

Easily the best American reaction I've seen to this, you let the verses go on until the end and explain basically all the bars to it and also how you can tell Dave is such a knowledge rapper, you should do a reaction to both his albums Psychodrama and his new one that came out in July, We're All In This Together.

Jack helped Dave's family try to get his brother out of prison I believe, so Dave knew him personally. So it allegedly hit him hard when he was killed. Also Dave invited Jack's parents to this performance, they didn't know about his impromptu verse or dedication to their son.

@@RodJReacts Jack was unfortunately murdered by a person who was in the rehabilitation programme which Jack helped, essentially his work killed him but his faith in people never wavered

Great reaction. Dave makes me so proud to be a Brit, that we have voices and talent like him -check out his blackbox freestyle, as a kid- gives a bit of his background, displays how he connects to emotion in his work as well as showing he's an outright prodigy. Black got Dave the 2020 Ivor Novello Best Contemporary Song with Fraser T. Smith (producer and other pianist ont double-ended piano), they also won in 2018 for "Question Time". The final verse outing Boris Johnson (well, his racism and broader hatreds are commonish knowledge) highlighting Grenfell, Windrush and calling for reparations etc was for the BRITS. The vid for the single is nice too

Jack Merritt was killed in a terror attack on London bridge he done worked on prison reform and helped Dave's brother who's incarcerated. Jack's parents were on the audience and had no idead Dave was gonna add that to his performance which isn't on the album version.

i remember waiting for the train in northern england, when a policeman walked through the crowd noticed me the only (dual heritage) (my mother is black well dual heritage but very very dark) and the policeman humiliated m,e picked me out for a ticket check and a search. i had done nothing wrong

As a white person I have no real connection to most of this, but one of my black friends used to take me to his barber shop. And as a queer white non binary person, I loved it. It really was the most chill place to go for a haircut. In the “white” barbers there were so many horrible looks and snide comments about a “female” going to a barbers. There was never any of that in the “black” barbers. Just a good feeling and always the best patterns lol

Often those that have been infringed upon will have the best welcoming for others that have also been infringed upon as well. The roads may be different, but the negativity inflicted and received can often be similar. It is nice that you found a space where you were able to be yourself and enjoy, and yes...best patterns for sure, lol.

Has anyone ever reccomended you listen to ghetts- "karma" yet?.... IMO it's storytelling genius at its absolute finest and is about a guy who's looking for someone who he has beef with.... Believe me when I say it's like she movie in your mind.... It's a little bit old now but you can't put a timeline on pure genius and you'll love it if you like that more aggressive sounding gangsta rap like me? 😂 If you're new to ghetts it's also an easy one to start with because he can be a bit harder to listen to cos his accent is stronger and he tends to hit pockets that US artists wouldn't and a lot of UK artists too imo! My favorite verse on this track?.... Wha' gwarn its time for my decision, Time to disappear like I is a magician, My driver in position, wheels spinning away and causing a cyclist collision, Sirens in my ears blue lights in my vision, Pedal to the metal now we're losing them, Can just about see em in my view again Sliding and skidding, driver moving like a hooligan Cah we don't want time in prison! Anyhoo... I'm new to your channel and although I ask almost every new good channel I find to react to it... You can see there's actually only a handful of reactions to it on here and probably half came from me! 😂.... Even if u don't...
