So you're saying he's such a great comedian that he doesn't even have to tell jokes anymore? 😂 Believe me...some of us have noticed. His specials are definitely not half as funny as the Chapelle Show, and that's being generous.
True the best comedians can talk about something serious or intellectual and it’s just funny because they’re funny. Patrice O’Neal is a great example too. He could be breaking down male and female psychology and have everyone in stitches
This man had the audience in the palm of his hand for almost 18 minutes. Masterful storytelling. Doesn't matter if they're jokes or he's relating a life lesson learned the hard way. Chapelle is a legend.
they're kinda the same thing except for comedy is a subset of storytelling. I say it's a subset because not every story is comedy, but every comedian who isn't a good storyteller isn't a good comedian.
My sister met Dave in a Walmart parking lot. He was smoking a cigarette outside of a tour bus and my sister pulled up and said "Hey has anyone told you that you look like dave chapelle?" Dave said, "millions of people tell me I look like Dave Chapelle." My sister said omg dave you are a legend. My sister is a nurse and Dave told my nephews that their mom is a legend. Gotta love Dave even in real life
I met Dave outside of his hotel in Indianapolis right after he started performing again I was like 15 maybe 16 and I loved His work lol first thing he told me when he walked up was don’t do drugs kid. 😂because I was freaking out that I was meeting dave Chappelle and it was just gold he gave me and a bunch of other people autographs and I got a picture with him too
They were laughing from anxiety because it's real, and ancient: innocent, decent person gets screwed. That explains their laughter and their silence. Laughing because it exposes a truth that causes anxiety; silence in the face of a shame that transcends a name.
A lot of people were just clapping where they're not supposed to, it's so cringeworthy. I guess it's because they were probably drunk and wanted entertainment, like poking a monkey and saying do something.
Dave isnt just a master comedian, hes a masterful rhetorician. He tells stories at such a high level, with perfect timing, pauses, inflection... I mean, its incredible. The audience was captivated for nearly 20 minutes. If the story had lasted an hour, they would have likely have been just as invested, too
This isn't the real Chappelle and anybody who thinks it is isn't a lifetime Chappelle fan. This imposter isn't funny at all. The real Dave was 1000x funnier then this cløne.
How he had every single person in that room hanging onto his every word without telling a single joke the whole time is beyond me. Dave Chapelle is truly the greatest story teller to ever do it.
I think those ppl there were brain dead honestly. They would start clapping and cheering when Dave was being serious talking about how he got fucked over bc it was in the contract. Even before that you had a handful of ppl slow clapping confused if they should clap or not
The way he told this story with an introduction, an example, a rise a climax and an end. It was very impressive. If you listened to this story, you will never forget it because it was told perfectly.
It’s a good feeling to hear Dave Chappelle express his feelings because you can hear the hurt in his voice, if anyone deserves to be free from the greed of Hollywood it’s Dave chappelle, he does nothing but produce the funniest content in the history of comedy
That "all of them being friends" is a real thing. I just finished a divorce hearing against my ex wife and after the hearing i went to the bathroom. I came back out into the lobby and heard both lawyers and the judge all laughing and joking. It was then I realized that the show they put on in the courtroom was all a show. I thought it was odd that my attorney didn't put up a fight the way I wanted him to but I figured he knew what was best....for himself. Lesson learned.
There is no person on the planet that can tell a story like Dave can. Man, when he gets into it, you cant help but be glued to your monitor. Fixed on him. Hes a marvelous story teller.
And Charlie Murphy...omg..those two stories he tells about chillen wit Rick James...i cried for about an hour STRAIGHT. Hands down most captivating story teller.
I wouldn't see it as "killing" him. Keeping a person alive and forcing them into a new line of work could be a net gain for that person, especially when "the man's livelihood" is simply scamming people. That being said, I think that "scam" can be applied much more broadly than it currently is.
@@leftistsscum6508 Who buys whole loaves of bread anymore? I go to restaurants and pay $9 for a slice of avocado toast plus 30% tip like a civilized human being.
I’m just learning about Dave Chapelle. Never really paid much attention to him or his comedy; I am blown away by his openness, his honesty and incredible talent as a story teller. I cannot compare him to any past nor present comedian, he is unique, and so is his VOICE. The man has no malice, he pokes fun at the singularities of the races, cultures and choices we make.
That was raw and intense but, more than that, it was absolutely genius. Chappelle's emotions were conveyed straight to me and he made me feel the way he felt. Genius. Absolute genius.
There have been a few. Bette Davis is one, maybe the first. The giant she went against was Warner Brothers, during the era when the studios ruled the lives of their contracted actors.
Chappelle is amusing but he just isn't that funny. Louis CK is funnier and Carlin was better at lecturing. Chapelle is a good mix of the two (because, by God, Carlin just was not funny at all, and Louis CK doesn't preach), which makes him amusing.
Dave was saying something without having to spell it out. The monster is the industry which is the global elite or “Illuminati” who control all celebrities. They do anything to keep their “artists” in check and that’s evident with what happened to Chappelle. The minute he had enough and took a stand, they started their typical smear campaign and made up stuff to try to put their puppet back on the string. Chappelle should be applauded for taking a stand against this evil system although him continuing to speak on it makes me worry for his safety. Any past people who have spoken out so openly were either jailed or killed.
Your career as a comedian will live on forever. You've done so much to bring people together in common laughter. The insanity of the times we live will pass, and you'll always be remembered as a legend that upheld the best virtues of humanity.
More often than not comedians are more like philosophers nowadays. They’re only funny cause reality today is stranger than fiction. No better funny material than the truth
To go see Dave Chappelle, expecting to laugh your ass off, and instead watch him monologue about all of his life experiences, must have been a terrific time. The dude can tell a story, goddamn.
His delivery is remarkable. Even if someone doesn't like him or his comedy, I would recommend this clip as an example of how to tell a story, speak to an audience, make a speech. He is such a great storyteller.
Dave knows what’s really going on. He knows how the people at the top of the pyramid control us the peasants. He is telling us to wake up and take charge of our lives.... Dave is beyond genius 🙏🙏💪💪
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that the crowd isn’t breaking out in applause after everything he says. It’s real, it’s nice ..no show biz claps . Dave keeps silencing them lol
dave is a smart guy . he must know that without comedy central he would not have what he has today and not be what he is today which is a very rich and famous guy . to me he is coming off like a complainer and whiner .
Except when they were awkwardly clapping for HBO when he was clearly telling a story about how they were stealing his content and not paying him for it
Dave educates through comedic storytelling, his intellect is on another level. He is, to me, the greatest comedian I’ve ever seen. That includes Pryor and Carlin. His ability to relate to every person is so amazing that he puts himself on another echelon.
John Harris, you are absolutely correct about Dave's life adventures and how he reaches people through telling his stories and jokes through comedy. He's literally in the top 3 who's comedy and jokes actually makes me laugh HILARIOUSLY.
Totally agree. Carlin was always a hero to me, still is, and so is Dave Chappelle. Chappelle's magic is that he can make you feel sad, introspective, provoke your thoughts and be incredibly funny all in one act.
@@RealMrSoloDolo He announced it on his Instagram. But FYI, Google is a good tool! The time it took you to make that comment you could’ve googled it yourself 🙄. But I assume you can’t so here you go, theres an article titled (‘Chappelle’s Show’ Returns to Netflix After Dave Chappelle Gets Paid) by New York Times. They cover everything he said in his Instagram live Feed.

He speaks to so many, yet still finds a way of making you feel like he’s only talking to you. He knows his worth, he knows his craft better than almost anybody ever has. Kind people get their reward in the end, and I hope we bring to him even a fraction of the joy that he has given us over the last 20+ years.
He has a way of making you forget that it’s a comedy show so that when a joke lands the value is increased by the sincerity. George Carlin was also able to pull that off. Not many can.
Every person should granted that type of understanding. His strength can be seen as an inspiration and so can others still under the same situation and have a smaller Mic to air their story.
What a human being Dave is, he's remarkable and these streaming monsters, company that owned his show really didnt deserve Dave for what they did. Incredible storyetelling, lore about Dave Chappelle people need to listen.
Truth matters -- even if it takes decades to reveal. Dave has been through hell and back, but he is stronger for it. A good lesson for all of us. Thanks Dave.
@@niks660097 well, there also was the daily show with John Stewart, also South Park and a few other big names with incredible talent. Just saying... Love Dave though and how they treated him was utterly wrong.
I enjoyed that little story rant more than any comedic skit. Need more people standing up for themselves nowadays. With social media, all you have to do is get society on your side and the corporations will tremble!
I remember when he walked away from Comedy Central and The Chapelle Show.. They put it out there that he had lost his mind, that he was crazy, schizophrenic and had retired and moved away to Africa. I even remember hearing that he was a crack addict. None of that sat right with me. But people believed it. Glad to see him back, despite people still trying to tear him down.
Then they got their guard dog Oprah to interview him and she asked him loaded questions that she knew he couldn't answer out of contractual obligations.
@HolyHammerOfByzantium Id like to normally think I wouldnt fall for this shit but it was hard not too at the time when he just vanished and they were allowed to set the narrative. It's fucked up, if Dave ever comes out, ill stump up for a show to see the dude.
I don’t think I laughed a single time in this video, and yet I still watched and was captivated by it. Dave Chapelle is truly one of, if not the best speaker of the current age.
His material is relatable and well thought out. It's not comedy anymore - it's storytelling at a doctorate level. That's what makes it so hard to replicate.
Man I agree, it kinda makes me sad how dumb the people are in this video, it's like they didn't even realize that he's putting his heart out there, especially when they were cheering at the part when he expressed that he couldn't even use his name, because it is the contract. People are so dumb.... Dave's an absolute legend
@@velzun8075 No I just don’t find someone’s serious story about having their livelihood stolen and being taken advantage of to be very funny, especially when the person telling it doesn’t find it funny either.
He just said do not rewatch his stolen work you . H. J. !! Is this his channel?? Thought not , you worth less P. O. S. Think about that, really ruminate on it ! During your next marathon S. E. X. sesh with your birth mother!
@@cocksure8430 if you think everything said at a comedy show is going to be funny, it sounds to me like you haven't been to many comedy shows. I'm sure Dave had plenty of haha along with these more serious words in this set. When you see a dramatic performance do you expect nothing funny to be said, as well? (rhetorical question, btw)
I sincerely find Dave to be one of the best speakers - not just comedians - in the world. The tone, pacing, patience, body language, everything is just so sublime. THE storyteller.
I had a father who was very wise, and told me many lessons in life. Dave's children are very lucky that they have a wise father who will educate them with ever valuable life lessons. Despite the fame, his modesty and grounded character are something to behold and admire! Thank you for all your education, Mr Chappelle.
I, my sisters and I had that same blessing! My Poppy always talked about principles! It irked me until I started applying those principles. What a gift that man was in my life! He wasn't perfect but he always apologized for his errors. He taught me how to be a bigger person. Yes, that's what I believe Dave teaches his children, how to move through this world with principles even when they don't see others reflect any! Thanks for your post! And, yes, thanks to Mr. Chappelle!
DC is helping mankind save itself from itself. Hes a genius, comedic yes (a legend and probably the GOAT in that sense), but a genius above all else, hes trying to teach us by putting a mirror up to us and saying see,,,see! I love the guy and appreciate him so much, hes a treasure.
And then finally he got his rights back for the show by people doing nothing . By not watching his show. That is powerful. It shows you how much power we have if we all band together and not participate in something to make a change. Brilliant. Well done Dave . I love you so much as a human being. The Goat of comedy.
With that....... I can tell you that I have imagined what we can do banded together like a tight knit FAMILY of people against corrupt government, against Evil Career Politicians I have seen us, as a people, strike and take back OUR country from the greedy bastards what are keeping us divided. Well I imagined it, I won't be around to witness it but. I know the day is coming
He worked out a deal with ViacomCBS they paid him and he gave Netflix his blessing to bring Chappelle's show back. Congrats Dave and you're welcome for doing what you asked us as fans to do 💪
This is all the evidence I need. Dave Chappelle’s primary avenue is comedy but he’s not a comedian he’s a rhetorician…a master or the spoken word. He definitely operates at a high level. A very unrecognized gift within our age, that of the storyteller. A master at work.
I’ve always like his comedy. But the profound intelligence and sincerity this man possesses just leaves me speechless. I will boycott Chapelle show for Dave.
This is old, you can watch the show now, he got paid: “When you stopped watching it, they called me,” Chappelle, 47, said in the clip. “And I got my name back, and I got my license back, and I got my show back, and they paid me millions of dollars. Thank you very much.”
Dave is a philosopher. The most captivating speaker alive. Every time he speaks it is so powerful. Whether its funny or not you know you are watching a legend and he always blows the doors down.
I literally was just thinking the exact same thing!! Kind of like Bruce Lee…only black lol (I’m black before anybody go there, and absolutely love them BOTH❤️❤️)
Dave learned in a very short time what it took me 30 years to finally accept. People it happens in real life. Everyday jobs. Especially medicine careers.
Learned a lot about the way he was treated and the fact he has been so open about it all to educate people is real cool. Got a whole new respect for mr. chappelle!
The coolest thing about Dave’s comedy is that he’s at such a high level of super stardom that people pay to go to his shows and here jokes but your really getting his life’s lessons plus jokes❤️❤️❤️😎🤙
I could listen to Dave all day, everyday. His philosophical outlook and stories of life are truly amazing. He just tells it how it is in the business that he has chosen. And what gets me is that they kicked him in the guts so many times, and ate him up and spat him out so many times, and he still is one of the biggest names in the game. Respect to the man and his struggles. He will always be a favourite of mine and my husband's.
@@nbnxassassin9535 Lol you for real? They've been cloning animals for...3 decades. You can get your pet cloned in Korea or Japan for the price of a used car. We're just animals. In fact, look up when scientists were surprised at how few coding genes we have...they were first assuming a number around 100,000; turns out we have under 20,000 (the same as a mouse).
I'm so obsessed with this video. I watched it on Instagram several times. I kept replaying the last part where he got mad, dropped the mic, and walked out.
u know ur good at what u do when u can just go off on a tangent and still have the crowd glued to what ur saying dave is just different man no matter if hes tellin jokes or ranting about shit that rubbed him the wrong way during his come up he will always be entertaining
Every young artist needs to watch this the moment they decide to go pro. Thank you for sharing your horrible experience for the sake of our future, Dave Chapel.
So horrible. It’s a crying shame a comic dreaming of making it big, was afforded the opportunity every other comic will only ever dream of, became rich wind famous and never has to work another day in his life. I’m so sad for him. Hopefully this awful outcome doesn’t happen to anyone else.
@@MrSinister718 Question: Would you still be saying the same case if you came across someone you actually felt got fucked over or would you just regurgitate the same shill speak?
@@laststrike4411 would you be questioning someone doing that to someone not famous who got fukd over? No, so the common element is Dave Chappell and your response is just as shill as you’re claiming theirs was.
I gotta say. Not only is this guy funny and ahead of his time, he has the ability to bring people together. This divided country needs more laughter and then the love will follow.
I took a legal education seminar once in copyright law. It was terrifying. The guy pointed out that when the Beatles released their last album, they had pre sold 100% of it. They received nothing from sales. The most important tip he gave for young musicians and entertainers was “Never give percentages in exchange for services. If you need management or lawyers or technicians, find a way to pay them cash.”
I've never seen his show on comedy central but have seen the Netflix specials. Have come to really like and appreciate his message. To me his comedy is a message with deep meaning to the world we live in today.
