Jeff Coffin outstanding solo on #41 from Dave Matthews Band at Lucca Summer festival 2009, Italy.
I love this song, I loved late great LeRoi Moore solo on it and I love this solo by Jeff Coffin as well. No other video on You Tube with the original audio from the CD Europe, so I had to edit this video.
Thanks for great people out there (extenebrislux, skinski74, jenadri7, fibroferro) for posting the original videos. I wish I was there on the show too.
I know this video is not in HD, but I had uploaded it in its original resolution and it was worse. Vegas does a acceptable job in upscaling it.
Enjoy, watch some of my other videos and subscribe if you liked!

The Lucca gig was truly unbelievable, arguably his best in Europe that year among his best ever. So lucky I was there and I will never forget.

Love this because he uses a such a variety of many simple techniques that aren't hard to copy, along with some which are much more difficult - lots of just great techniques here. It's little more approachable for me than say Joshua Rodman where most of it is just so technically crazy. But great players like him never bore the audience - you know he's taking you somewhere. Love the build he does too. He was good friends with my old sax teacher - can see them play together in my home town of Olympia. I heard they were going to do it and kicked myself for not being there.

saw him battle Carter in Nashville in 01 I believe when he was a sax player for Bela fleck and the flecktones and they were guest for a couple shows. they played #41 for like 40 mins. it was insane and their battle was 🔥

This is definitely in my top 3 versions of #41. He is so incredible! I saw him this year in Camden, his #41 solo wasn't this long but it was amazing nonetheless. Thanks for posting!

#41 is my favorite track of all time. Across all bands, all styles and genres, #41 takes the cake for its simple beauty and flexibility in direction. LeeRoi (your spelling errors forgiven) WAS an amazing musician and remains a god amongst men. However, the man is dead. To claim that you can't watch DMB without him is a disrespect to him personally. Watch the greatest recorded version of #41, 4/21/02 with Bela Fleck (etc.). You'll see that Jeff was a well chosen successor by LeeRoi himself.

Wow you were definitely right about this one felipeviegas! This is amazing, Jeff Coffin can really just command the music so well, absolute control, perfect phrasing, everything. Easily one of the most outstanding solos I've seen. This man really knows how to communicate with music!

This is a really great solo for sure, but anyone saying that this is the greatest sax solo ever is straight out of their mind and I'm pretty confident Jeff would be the first person to tell you that. He uses loads of extended technique which shows amazing fluidity in embouchure and amazing air control and it's super uniquely jeff. But he would never hold himself above the likes of Coltrane, Henderson, Rollins, Potter, Stitt, Parker, Brecker (who is by Jeff's own words the only reason he still plays professionally) and who also plays much like Jeff in many ways and if you liked this I'm sure you'd love Brecker.

Damn.... my mind was just blown.... Im still a bit green to the tenor, I can notice most notes. But more than half the f*cking notes he's playing are f*cking with my ears in such a good way. Intensely amazing solo.

Kind of ironic that the sax player who replaced the deceased Leroi Moore is named Jeff Coffin.

The tenor player is nervouse he cant look at dave straight so he looks at the drummer lol
@SammyMakepeace

What xD why would he look at Dave when he's playing to the drummer xD you obviously haven't seen Jeff play much if you think he's a nervous player. From the same show he duets with Dave on LItHoG while on soprano. Get outta here
