Thank you so much, Nick n Lex. And to my friends in the comments. I’ve heard some negativity from people about DMB. Love the band, the compositions and the passionate love voiced in many lyrics: “I would crawl through the darkest dungeon, climb a castle wall, if you’re my Rapunzel.” “Blood through my veins for you. You alone have all of me.” Also, Dave duets with Tim Reynolds, both on guitars, and performs several acoustic sets and shows. To add another flavor to his varied sound. Tyty ❤️😽❤️
Hi Michele, just discovered this, great song ... honestly I have to say, that Dave Matthews is under the radar in Germany ... not only mine . The song title reminds of "Rapunzel, lass dein Haar herab" 😆 Finally my RPWL request is in youtube ... you know where to look. Spring greetings from Germany Rudi ❤
I think the hate comes from the songs they are reacting to are great but they are the pop side of Dave try reacting to the stone or dreaming tree, or my favorite what you are
Thank you again again Michelle Michelle! Takes me back to the transplendent benefit concert for Piedmont Park in Atlanta held there which I beheld in 2007: Dave Matthews Band and the Allman Bros. Band...Performers, place, and purpose all combined to perfection and the audience-musician feeback loop took everyone to new heights...The intricacy of their compositions showcases how they are breathtakingly too tight for words!
Great reaction....next listen should be 41 -> Say Goodbye. Back to back songs off the Crash album. That combo was a concert staple of the early days. An incredible audio experience.
I saw Maestro while in SA guys. Great movie about Leonard Bernstein. Very apt in this case as Dave Matthews is a maestro himself, and this is indeed a world class band. As I said after your 'Last Stop' reaction, this album (Before These Crowded Streets) is brilliant with so many varied genres within the album. I have to say my favourite track is 'The Dreaming Tree', another long song, a little more subtle in its instrumentation. Every band member is a superb musician. Carter Beauford on drums, Stefan Lessard on bass, Boyd Tinsley on violin, the late Leroi Moore on sax and woodwind, Tim Reynolds on guitar and Dave on acoustic guitar. Since I returned to the UK from SA in 2004, I have seen DMB live more often than any other band, which is somewhat ironic as Dave was brought up and schooled in Johannesburg (remember my SA marathon which included 'Everyday' by DMB) but whenever they venture into the UK I'm there! Live they are superb and every song is a new experience. Thanks so much Michele, am absolutely great choice.
I've been in two shows in Brazil. They're best for sure as a Band, and, everyone in the band have their space to show their talent. The best band for sure.
The thing about Dave and Co. is I always feel safe to get on no matter what because every ride is different yet I feel the comfort with the music of being right where I should be.
The time signature changes on this song are so interesting; the switch to the bridge parts is fantastic! And of course Carter and LeRoi absolutely kill it through the whole tune. Another DMB classic masterpiece!
You probably couldn't have picked a better album to start with, Before these crowded streets has a whole backstory (deeper dive) in itself but all the songs on this album are top notch. I suggest Don't drink the water if you haven't heard it yet, gives you a better understanding of the direction their music took after 1998 IMO.
I wasn’t a big fan of this band back in ‘98 or so, but I got free tickets to a DMB show so I checked them out. This is the song - and particularly the violin - that made me fall in love with the band. I bought several CDs shortly thereafter - but I didn’t learn the true provocative meaning of the song until years later.
Great band, I love their music is so unique, my favorites albums are Under the Table and Dreaming, probably their best! Crash, Before These Crowed Streets and Busted Stuff
Michelle! Absolutely a great request! This was the next song I was going to request of Dave!! Great minds think alike! Lol. This album is so varied and a true masterpiece as I have said before! Really think you need to do a full album reaction! It does not disappoint! You would love it! Michelle, they need they need to do it right. Maybe you and I should together sponsor the full album. What do you think! Food for thought! Really glad you are enjoying these requests! This was fun! Thanks Nick and Alexia and of course you our lovely Michelle!!!
@@richarddobson815 i was thinking before these crowded streets. They have heard 3 songs off of it. And loved all three. Such a diverse record. Represents some of their best work IMO! Thanks for the comment!
Track #1 Pantala Naga Pampa is basically the precursor to this song, kinda like the intro. This song is best heard in consecutive order with track #1 straight into #2. Also this song has a different time signature for each segment, keeps you on your toes.
Listen to the Jacob Colllier version off Bridge over Troubled Water, with YEBBA, John Legend and Tori Kelly. You will forget every other artist that you’ve heard. Do it!
