im a metallica fan but man, grammy's was very disrespectful towards them. those idiots only had one job and they screwed up big time. dead mics, wrong songs, they'll only get worse
Why did they play Metallica when Megadeth won? Because the house band learned one metal song for the event. As far as they are concerned all rock and metal are the same thing.
In the UK where people speak proper English because they invented the language (I'm American and we are spectacularly ruining it), learned tends to be used as an adjective and learnt as the past participle, though learned is also fine and that's what we Americans use. Another example is smelt. That said, we would say a dealer dealt the cards, not dealed, just to confuse our position on this. Anyway, hope y'all appreciated that irregardless of where you stand on the language. Imma go now.
This shows how much Dave has matured. Had Megadeth won a grammy 25 years ago and the house band played a shit master of puppets cover he would've been livid. Dave would've complained like crazy.
And he would have been right like hell bc moonlighting Metallica song during Megadeth appearance, especially on this format event, is cringe and totally disrespectful.
Angela Brantley, I would guess that, Metallica has one the award so many times, that the Grammy organizers, just assumed they would win again and prepared the house band, with a Metallica song. LOL! How embarrassing!
The house band tried to learn a Megadeth song but then went with something easier. Could you imagine them butchering a Megadeth song when they can't even play Master?
Like he said "they probably didn't know any Megadeth songs so they played a Metallica song"; probably with the awareness that Mustaine is a former Metallica member so they were like "whatever, close enough".
Yeah I think those are four horsemen, phantom lord, jump in the fire, and metal militia in kill em all and ride the lightning and call of ktulu in ride the lightning. Dave claimed that Leper Messiah has his riff, but it is still a mystery to this day.
I feel kinda bad for the house band. They took on a gig that was way above their skill level and embarrassed themselves big time. They say there's no such thing as bad publicity, but I can't imagine venues were too stoked about booking them after this fiasco.
If they didn't know any Megadeth songs, then just play from the actual Megadeth album that just won... Instead they play a different band's music, and butcher it at the same time.
I secretly think Dave wants to be back in Metallica. I think it would be cool if they actually did a project together. Because fans will come together if they do.
Just like any kid in the 90s you liked Metallica or Megadeth but I got to say if I ever got the chance to hang out with any of the guys from both bands I would like to hang out with Dave.🤘
I had to replay the video three times when I heard that cuz I thought I heard that tone somewhere.. I'm glad I didn't commit suicide after realizing it was master of puppets..
The house band should be: Beth Hart on vocals and keyboard Joe Bonamassa on guitar Anton Fig on drums Tal Wilkenfeld on bass Ron Dziubia on saxes Lee Thornburg on trumpets and trombones Lizzie Ball on violin They are fast learners, multi genre and tight.
The studio band probably just tried to learn a easy Metal song. It's way harder to cover most Megadeth songs (and let it sound good) than Metallica and they problably didn't knew who won so i can forgive them, barely.
Master of puppets is a downpick fest of intense wrist pain if you don't have the chops. Far too much for that shitty studio band. Megadeth music isn't harder it's just different.
Most of Megadeth's music is harder. I have talked to several musicians who confirms that. Especially some of the solos are way harder to play clean. There have been several guitarists in Megadeth to accomplish to their level, ie Poland, Friedman, Broderick and Loureiro. Not to forget Pitrelli and Drover either. I dont say Metallica is not as good but they dont play at the technical level of Megadeth.
+uksrock21 it's all dependent on your personal skill. Blackened is way easier for me, master is a much higher tempo and it's constant down picking throughout much more of the song. I have a vid of blackened on my channel but no master because it's too hard for me lol
I'm so glad Dave Mustaine conquered rock and his chemical use struggles. He is an incredible songwriter, guitar player and frontman. He is not my favorite singer. No, I couldn't do better, I couldn't even do half as well. I don't like his voice, it has a "tight" quality on some songs that isn't appealing. In contrast, I think on "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?" he sounds great! Its subjective. If he hadn't been let go by Metallica we'd have no Megadeth
How do you ask a question like that without knowing Dave was a part of Metallica? My question is why make a RU-vid clip without adding the so call bad version to the news you are reporting?
If they were going to play a Metallica song for Megadeth. They could at least played a song that Dave Mustaine helped write, like Four Horseman, Ride the Lightning, or Jump in the Fire.
It must be intimidating being a house band, which are usually comprised of great musicians, at the Grammys and having to perform a Megadeth song. Ending up doing a metallica song, and butchering it. Poor guys.
This is why i dont trust the grammys, Megadeth should have received their awards back at the Rust in peace era but they didnt gave them. And now is the first time Megadeth received an award, they played mop. What an insult!! They did that on purpose for sure, because they cant play a Megadeth song. Losers.
