So enjoy Dave experiencing "Welcome to the Black Parade" for the first time. He loves the drumming. A lot!

A lot of the influences for the album included Queen. Which makes it even more cool that they once played Welcome to the Black Parade live with Brian May once!

Truly, truly wishing you'd do the entire album...it is truly incredible. If I had to settle for only one other reaction from this album it would be for the song "Mama". Keep in mind that the first sounds you hear of this song are bombs. I loved the reaction you did for this video...top notch. Thank you!

Muse opened for them on tour. Gerard had an issue with depression and drinking so the band broke up so he could get help. During this time he wrote the comic series Umbrella Academy (that is on it’s 3 season on Netflix.)The drummer unfortunately was fired due to abusive behavior and stealing from the band. The whole Black Parade album is excellent.

The stealing stuff is from another drummer, the drummer who wrote and played on this song is Bob Bryar, left when MCR decided to scrap their new album "Conventional Weapon" in 2010. The official statment says that they parted ways because of creative differences.

Yup you’re correct. I got the two drummers mixed up. Bob had carpal tunnel issues during their world touring and need surgery.

I haven't subscribed to this channel yet, but I am a fan of MCR and in general Gerard Way so I wanted to make another small correction- Gerard actually wrote Umbrella Academy before the band broke up. Or at least the first two 2 volumes, volume 3 of the comic was released in 2019 the same year of the 1st season of the show. Volume 1 was released in 2007 and 2 was released in 2008. The band broke up officially in 2013.

The choices on this channel have been amazing. Some Manchester orchestra, royal blood, my chem.. might have don’t blue October too, don’t remember. You get brand new on here, you have hit some amazing high points. Also: “sounds like Green Day, but maybe better” is such a great and true statement.

I still have this album on Vinyl, unopened and still in it's box. I believe only 2,500 or so were made of what I purchased.

I wasn’t expecting to see MCR on this channel 😅 great first song to start with! Unfortunately I don’t know much MCR outside of The Black Parade, so I’ll recommend another track from this stellar album: House of Wolves 🐺

If you like the darker songs and Gerard’s harsher vocals, try Revenge! If you like the big stadium rock sound, production and concept of TBP try Danger Days! And if you’re interested in hearing a more metal/hardcore (bordering gothic) take on the band, the debut album Bullets is a great spin. There’s a shade of MCR for everybody :))

“The Ghost of You” is a bit of a more underrated single from these dudes. They’re my favourite band of all time, so if it were up to me I’d be recommending you the deep cuts🤣 But, I’d be happy to see anything else of you from these guys! Edit: Also yes, lead singer Gerard Way is a huge Brit pop fan, so that might influence his tone. I’ve never heard the “British” in his voice, myself, as a British person but you’re not the first to make that comment🤣

I don’t remember exactly what band it was, but they got put on a predominantly metal slot unfortunately and ended up going on immediately after like Slayer or someone. If you watch the live footage, they seem to gradually win over the crowd with their riff-ier tracks, so awesome.

I'd never heard this one either. I think I caught this band on an ep. of SNL. Yeah, a little Green Day, a little Killer-ish too. complex composition. a low-atus 😀 Speaking of complex compositions, here's one for Dave to try that has a lot of different guitar textures and real good drumming throughout. Very cool tune. I’m also not familiar with it. I would agree it sounds a little Green Dayish. It’s also got a sound like Volbeat’s non-metal material. Thanks guys.

The album was produced by Rob Cavallo who worked on American Idiot with Green Day, but MCR’s music usually leans more into harsher punk styles or broader styles of rock, this is probably their most “pop punk” song :))
