Symbolic of how weird this world is, people passing by this guy with their bags full of things they don't really need while they could feel 5 mins of real genuine joy listening to this guy making music and pouring out his soul.
I think it’s symbolic of this world to show how you think. People who work hard to earn money can spend it on anything they want before handing it to a total stranger. He is talented without a doubt, but don’t ever tell me who or what to spend my hard earned money on. I can tell you that I 100% believe that I work just as hard if not harder than a man with a decent voice sitting in a chair singing to passers by.

The most beautiful moments i had in life you could not buy with all the money in the World, like taking a break and listening to some guy making music. Nowadays people don't enjoy the simple things anymore, it is more important to take pictures for your social media than actual enjoy those moments.
There was a comment here some years ago: "Be the guy in the white cap." He stops in his tracks just as Dave is singing "will you stay with me?" (1:41), then listens to the rest of the song, quietly ambles up to Dave, leaves a tip, and walks away looking happy and grateful for the moment. I wonder what the music did to him, what memories it stirred.
Beautiful to ponder. I know I've been coming back to listen to this song over and over for about 8 years now if that tells you anything. I show it to anyone and everyone who'll listen. It's truly magical. I wish I'd heard someone like Dave when I was overseas on liberty in foreign ports, but no such luck.
