Dave Weckl & Oz Ezzeldin: 'Dis Kinda Place 

I'm inclined to affirm that maybe Dave is the best drummer alive.

I'm coming up on 40 years of playing drums and I swear when it comes to crisp technique, groove and musicality, this guy is still a head above any other drummer I am aware of. It's amazing to hear drumming in which you know pretty much every note is perfection.

Effortless , controlled , powerful groove : musicality and technique ALWAYS servicing the music without useless show-offs. Hats off to Dave Weckl , a man in a total and constant "crescendo " !

How is it possible that Dave is still getting better?

I know most of us are here for Dave, myself included, but damn, that is some of the most beautiful keys playing I've heard. Oz's percussive keyboard style plus his beautiful phrasing is a perfect match for Dave's playing. Duo Perfection!

Dave is in my humble opinion the BEST drummer that ever played the drums; period.

The first time l heard Weckl, I was amazed so much (on Dave Weckl Masterplan CD). Never before I was hear this kind of playing. He inspired me to explore his concepts and learn other sides of drumming. So clean, precise, great touch and feel!

Of all my “Drum Heros”, and there are many, Dave Weckl is my favorite. His feel, vocabulary and phrasing is so unique and precise. I can listen all day and night.... I've played piano back in the day; always wanted to play drums but I've never as much sat down in front of a set. I don't know the meanings of all the various 'drum moves' or how they're done - but my ears work just fine and I'm telling you, I've never heard anything like this guy. If this piece doesn't get you fired up, you're dead.

I saw Dave Weckl do a live clinic when I worked at Thoroughbred Music in Tampa back in about 1986 or 1987. He is the best drummer I have seen. Amazing chops and stamina like none other.

Was so very fortunate to have two three-hour sessions with him, such an incredibly gifted musician, a terrific teacher, and a real, and i mean real, nice guy😊

Again, just Wow. Every time I hear the sound of Dave's drums, I think that they sound not only unique other drummers kits but like another instrument altogether, and mixed with his incomparable soulful off the charts (literally) skills, makes for an incomprehensibly authentic yet out of this world experience. Yet again, Wow. and wonderful composition by the way. Fizzing.

I always love his washy, bright cymbal sound. Many cymbals nowadays sound too crisp, dry, even in cheerful music.

There are some elements of - "Dis' Place This" (Hard Wired 1994) and from the same album - "Hard Wired" . Amazing job Maestro!

During Rumble, the first tune, the power blew, then you blew us all away with a solo while Chick rebooted the computer and the show went on!! You're still blowing everyone away - 33 years later!! GROOVE IS INSANE! Theres a lot of great and good drummer but there are few people like this! The way Dave cook the music is unbelievable.

I've been lucky to see Dave 3 times live - twice in the early 2000's with the Dave Weckl Band, and then in 2018 with Mike Stern... Simply stunning, so complex without being wanky or ever loosing the groove! (I live in Australia so seeing big name fusion players is kinda rare)

The one and only Dave Weckl. Thanks for giving me the biggest inspiration to want to play drums. I remember being shown a video of you playing with the Electric Band in my early days of playing around a good friend of mine house Guy Richman (Boyzone, Wicked). I knew from that moment on what I wanted to do. A year or so later you were a big name with your first video release Back to Basics and i have never looked back. Thanks Dave you have played your part in shaping I am sure thousands of drummers through what you do over the years and I for one will always be grateful Paul
