@@pjselarom1290 he was effeminate and people made the assumption he was gay. i really don't understand why people feel the need to tell us they knew he was gay. it's irrelevant and often feels like they're trying to dim his moment, as if he can't talk about his own sexuality since it was perceived by them already. in this case though, it is clear that @JoseLopez-zu9uk is saying that they supported david, even in knowing his sexuality. because a lot of people still do not accept david for who he is.

It's not literal hell. It's a "what if" question. It's not the first song written with a heaven hell "what if" theme. The message is of love. And if hate & homophobia is accepted in this heaven, then what? The most important lyrics word is "IF"

Even scripture has been written by man, albeit through prophecy, but still by the hands of man. Handed down through generations and rewritten by the hands of man over time in many languages. Mankind is imperfect and has biases, right? But still God is love... A mother looks around at congregation who believes her son is going to hell If he lives a life that is true to himself...But he is God's creation, she realizes that her child has suffered enough and doesn't want to be in a place where her son isn't welcome anymore because he wants to live his truth as a way of survival. Of forgiveness and truth, finding peace, love, happiness and acceptance. "I don't want to live forever, in someone else's heaven"..."Ooh, we'll go to hell together"...
