He’s often said that. That he was more of an “interpreter” than a singer. I guess all the most talented people are usually insecure about their talent. Always self critical.
Such a charming and loveable human. Honest and humble and so funny 🤍 the subject matter of Heathen really cuts deep and he’s still always so lighthearted and grounded about it.
Where/when in the world did you find this interview..is David Bowie doing this from his home office/studio in New York?.. appreciate his impression of whoever "stardust" quite a story as well 🌝... funny how he as always says "the thing"
"I would give my right arm... maybe not my right arm. I would give somebody's right arm if I could find somebody to sing all my songs for me." LOL Funny. Overall, though, this is one of David's least charming interviews, at least earlier on in the interview. He seemed a little... bored, maybe even a tad defensive. Or just tired. Ah well. Can't be 100% 100% of the time, can we?
Man….to work with Dave Grohl for such a boring song…Heathen has some great tracks but why do great musicians rarely work together and then when they do it’s usually for a forgettable throw away track like that one? I mean really…Could’ve made an original track or chose a more dynamic or timeless song to cover together…like bowies collab with Queen to make Under Pressure is a timeless classic
Many details that I didn't know about this album, it's my favourite and it seems that it reflects how Bowie saw that period of life: a bit dull, he knew he was going downhill and his realization about it made a unique album. I think the best is reflected in the song Heathen, simple and sad at the same time.
