@@quintork4100 - "Bring Me the Disco King" is a song written by David Bowie in the early 1990s, and recorded three times, although only the last recording was released as part of Bowie's Reality album in 2003. A remix was also released in 2003 as part of the Underworld movie soundtrack.
"The song was remixed by ex-Nine Inch Nails bass player/keyboardist Danny Lohner for the soundtrack to the 2003 film Underworld. Maynard James Keenan, Milla Jovovich, Josh Freese and John Frusciante also contributed to the remixed track."
@@downtheblvd1481aww man it doesn’t suck. You don’t like Maynard James Keenan? He’s excellent too. I’m a little biased but this is the first version I heard and just love the vibe of it. It’s sad and haunting. Didn’t hear the original version til just the other day and thought it was “ehh” but hey I get it.
This song was written in the very early 90s and first appeared on Black Tie White Noise in a version totally unlike this one. David wasn't happy with how that version turned out. He kept playing around with different arrangements, involving various co-musicians. Not surprisingly, the version he liked most, which appeared on the 2003 Underworld soundtrack - was arranged with collaborators Maynard Keenan from Tool, and John Frusciante from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, both musicians who could bring out the best in any song. Just so you know, the screen shot used for the video posted here by Armin Basha, was from near the end of David's life, in the end-stages of cancer, and has nothing to do with the circumstances of the song posted here.
Holy fucking shit this is incredible. I've heard the chorus sampled on a hiphop song, I can't remember which, but I've never heard this. The producer(s) of this were really on some shit making all these different elements work together the way they do. Thank you for uploading this.
bring me the Disco King, Rip David B. after some time relaxing and refreshing in heaven, looking forward fo next life. Maybe the next 5 or 10 years, he will be born again, he will live under us and nobody will realize, just like Elvis. or mybe not, maybe on another earthlike planet.
I think this song is about him selling his soul to the devil (disco king) and that it was a bad deal in hindsight.. I don't think we'll be seeing him in heaven..
@@tom255uk The original song was written by David Bowie in the early 90's and released in a David Bowie album (only with him singing). This remix was made for the soundtrack in one of the "Underworld" movies. It was made by Danny Lohner (ex-NIN). MJK, Frusciante, Josh Freese and Milla Jovovich (?) contributed to the remix. About the process of recording, I can't say nothing.
whoever posted this, thank you and blessings... never heard this gem before when I'd thought I'd heard pretty much all Bowie ever, he lives on forever unsurprisingly
Agreed, same here. Only that Frusciante is my favorite artist! Bowie showed me some crazy music directions and I like him for being so creative and cool... I didn't listen to all of his work, but I'm sure that I heard like 80% 😁 fun fact: this is a soumdtrack for Underworld 2 lol
still gives me chills hearing his voice. this album was his goodbye to us. seeing Iman talk about their love is just beautiful, yet heartbreaking at the same time. thanks for posting this.
Bowie knew he'd die and he put some good songs about it before he laid to rest. I absolutely love this song and how he had good lyrics and beats to go along with it. RIP David Bowie! 😪
@@kcl5912 she doesn’t have to be referring to this song, or Black Star where his looming death was definitely on his mind and heard in the music. But I think Bowie’s awareness of getting old and eventual death (as we all die) can be heard way earlier, all the way back to this song and others from this era. It’s really cool and interesting, his way of coping was to write songs and share them with us, it’s like he wasn’t going through it alone. It’s cool stuff, but your negative know-it-all comment belongs on Twitter or something. I hope you mature as you grow up, kid. Good luck
Oh no, I found an information few years ago that this exists and digged thru the whole internet and found it on some shady mp3 download site 😂 I said that the world must to hear this peace of art so I uploaded it to youtube (this pic is here cause I liked it very much). Anyway, the video got blocked by youtube due copyright, but it unblocked it a while ago! Much love
This song was recorded 3 times by Bowie. In "Black tie white noise" in 93 and in 97 for "Earthling". Still the song never made the final cut of those albuns. It was recorded and released in 03 for the album in "Reality". This is a remix from the same year (2003) of that version for the film Underworld. Maynard's voice and other musicians ( and Milla Jovovich btw) contributed for this remix.
@@andrepereira744 thanks! i own those albums & bsides but didn't recognize this track... bowie could sing feliz navidad and most people would think it was an original!!
I can't help but feel like this felt forced. Everyone is incredibly talented and tried to make it work in their own unique way but it doesn't feel natural
