Im 68 and I saw him twice in the 80s truly amazing performances so sorry you left us so soon maybe when the time comes round we can all see you in concert again in that big show in the sky…we do miss you
Ditto....I'm the same age and have the exact same reaction. When an artist, regarldess of medium, can have THAT kind of an effect on an audience, you know you are in the presence of true genius!!!
yes same here.62 and still get goose bumps and real nostalgic..over every song I hear both from Bowie and all music of that time 70s and early 80s and 60s.. just a great time to be alive.. and it is really hard to believe I am old.but not mentaly feel 38..
Now i'm 63, and now i rediscover among others david bowie. This is music. Not to compare with the music today. Now I'm going on a journey of discovery and listening to the songs from back then again. And enjoy them now with a more mature ear.
I don't know if it's just me, but Gail Ann Dorsey added a special dimension to the Bowie musical experience. We're so fortunate to have RU-vid to make us appreciate that David Bowie walked our planet as a polymath.
Yes I,m 64 and still listening to Bowie as much as I did 50 years ago. What a great Performance Artist he was.Had the courage to kill off Ziggy,Aladdin Sane and The Thin White Duke at the height of their success. Then had the confidence to perform as David Bowie.Took his die-hard fans like me with him all the way.Love you David, always have, ways will.Miss you so much.Still, I know your in a good place now, because you were such a good guy in this world. And thanks for all the joy your music has given, especially this tune.
"Just for one day " That's all I have ever asked for that's all I have ever wanted. Thank you David for letting me be a Hero just for one day. When I hear you sing this song I can feel it. You will never be forgotten. We Love You.
I was in Toronto in 1983 during his show. I stood outside the enclosure outside the fence, but you could hear his band clearly. Heroes moved me almost to tears. What a musical genius!
Perché sapevi che per te era l'inizio della fine amore mio .ma tutto quello che sei stato e hai creato ti fa ' eroe eterno unico per sempre. Ti amo e ti benedico dovunque tu sia
Only 1 time in life did l meet a knoble giant as him in a Camden beer garden what very Human nonHuman and kind Giant. God's bless you brother for your time and kindness. WELCOME TO vallhalla
Yes, and a part of me as well as many more of us! R.I.P. Thin White Duke, Aladdin Sane, Ziggy Stardust and all of the other beautiful and unforgettable parts of what made up David Bowie. Thank you for sharing yourself with all of us! We love and miss you so much!
Only once in a century does someone like Bowie come along . Listening to a full musical career of his is astonishing . Ziggy to Young Americans , then everything after . Omg …… cancer is a ultimate crime to all . RIP. our “ Thin White Duke “ 😢😔
being 80, I've seen all the great ones in their early years and watched them grow to perfection. David Bowie was one the great ones. We all love Mick but Keith is the man.
Mate that was blinding,Bowie at his best, and the lead bass player and drummer, take a bow, that was epic,I just seen Bowie in concert, yeehaa, what a jam that was,and the good thing about it is I can watch it anytime, thankyou David Bowie, for being who you are,Toal pleasure just seeing and hearing your music,r.i.p to a super human being. Mick Goldcoast Australia.
... early 1980s an I embarked in decades of working non-stop 12 hour workdays. I'd get home to my shack and play Kraftwerk, Devo, Robert Fripp albums. Then Bowie came out with Heroes and swept the deck,..
My son is in his early 30s. He summed Bowie up by saying, ‘he was such a cool guy’. David is sadly not with us anymore but he has left behind many, many wonderful songs for us to listen to and we will…….
Mr Bowie as a sixty year old man you were and still are the man !! We all wished we could have been as cool as you. Thanks for all the good and bad times in our life's.
I am still in disbelief that I was able to see him in 1978. I was so young. So much was lost on me. But it was amazing. And then again, in 83 for Serious Moonlight. And then again for Sound and Vision. Such a vocalist. His voice, his control, his ability to adjust on the fly to what his voice was doing that night. And the songs he wrote...heartbreakingly pointed and insightful. I hope has has the peace he so richly earned.
I love it that it starts so relaxed, so much so that he doesn't come in at the start by accident, then the casual drinking from a mug, then to the passion of the song. The band was all together........
I have to say that HE is my hero . As a singer, I sometime realize I make little mistakes a bit out of tune here and there, but I’ve been watching his videos for years, hundreds of them and I can say that I never never never ever heard a note out of place , out of tune . He is the best singer ever. Miss you very much.
I looked up the word crescendo in the dictionary - and every time this song comes up. Might be the best written song ever.... R.I.P. D. Bowie. You deserve to be in peace for eternity because you have provided us so much joy and inspiration.
I have loved this song since I first heard it, I was 11 years old at the time, but this is a very incredible and emotional live version of this song one of the most beautiful live versions, definitely. I love his music, he was brilliant.
His voice. His style was just plain ol Cool! He is part of the best Christmas song! I have listened to other versions since my post 2 weeks ago. This is so FN Cool!! My favorite version by far! I cannot listen to it just once. Electrifying swagger and stage presence. A master class of musical talent! I do not seem able to just listen. I have to watch in order to get full immersion. This is one of the few times when I like the live version better than the studio recording.
One of the Best Concerts I've ever been to was Bowie in '78 at The Fabulous Forum! Thank You Mr. Bowie for allowing me to be a "Hero"...just for 1 day!
For the Gentleman who donned so many hats & looked great doing it no matter which one he wore. Happy Birthday to you David, you are missed & loved ole boy. Truly the first being to ever really explore Mars🪐 & outerspace🌌 You're music live's on forever & we are eternally grateful, thank you... 🛸
@@daviddemaria3982 Thanks David... I must say I do miss Bowie. One of the most most talented musician's we ever had around. I would love to hear his take on the state of madness we seem to have gotten ourselves into since his passing... With the Pandemic & all ? I always enjoyed listening to him speak about things. Obviously miss so much about him... Just an incredible man from another time in space... 👣🌶🛸
Ich kann erst seit kurzem seine Videos sehen ohne zu weinen.Bin voller Dankbarkeit für all die Jahre seiner musikalischen Begleitung. Er bleibt eine feste Größe in meinem Leben
Towards the rnd Gale Ann Hurley is so united with Bowie, so proud & overjoyed & at peace & triumphant & wanting to just dissolve into the joy of becoming a Hero, there, that day, alongside him, as everyone can. This song is the 5th Symphony of Rock. Bowie's 5th!
I was lucky enough to see this tour at The Roseland Ballroom in NYC. First set was his typical parade of astounding songs from his repertoire - second half of the show featured side B of Low, played in it's original sequence - jaw dropping, mind blowing, skin tingling perfection! The single most exciting live performer I've ever witnessed - and I've seen a bunch of the greats. SO GOOD!
David (Jones) Bowie will live forever in my heart, he’s a HERO!! I have loved him almost my whole life, since Space Oddity premiered on KMET, when I was so young…I will always love him ❤. I still mourn his loss every January, this year was seriously hard, with so many deaths and it’s still February 2023
I posted a month ago, but I listen to this almost every day! Multiple times usually. And loud. I look forward to getting my home theater system set up. Soon hopefully! I will with Take Five (Brubeck), Return to Me (Dino), this and then Summertime (Ella). A good start. And Claire DeLune.
