About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

I can't speak for other people my age (20) but I certainly have, easily one of my favourite albums, it's Bowie at his innovative experimental best combined with a really cool cyberpunk neo-noire story. One of my far-flung dreams is to adapt (and complete) the narrative into a film using the music, something akin to Pink Floyd's The Wall.

With Reznor's mashed up Closer at the beginning and this at the end, Se7en had an epic score. Mum had her hair like Bowie as Ziggy Stardust in the 80s with her being a massive fan so I grew up listening to him. It was "old fogey music" when I was little but it didn't take long for me to appreciate his genius. Had a crush on him in Labyrinth. I wanted to be the Goblin Queen😂.

Is it just me, or has the 1. Outside material actually aged extremely well? Don't get me wrong - I did like this very much at the time, but I think there was a hint of cynicism around the edgy post-grunge pre-millennial angst-rock stylings. Looking back now I feel there was a great amount of freedom in Bowie's work here - it may have been commercially compromised following the Leon sessions, but it does feel quite natural, and the quality of the work speaks for itself. On top of that, he looks absolutely fantastic! #BowieForever

@LauraGonzalez-fq5pk
@LauraGonzalez-fq5pk 2 года назад
Aquí la cita de la anécdota de la letra: "During overdubs Bowie came up with a different lyric about English landscape painters, until Reeves Gabrels suggested “David, that’s nice and all, but it’s kind of destroyed the essence of the song, don’t you think?” Bowie took his advice in the end and reverted the lyric back to the narrative of the characters."

This video is a fantastic video, a piece of art, from a great artist, it digs into the human soul and seems to me timeless as much as current. The final song in the credits of the intense and fierce movie Se7en... It´s part of my music repertoire, should I say, younger people must learn from it, YES! actually, the whole album is quite a piece of music history.

This vid, song and concept is pure art. Experimental, edgy yet melodic. Like a novel with twists and turns... like Camus I find it hard to define what it is always, but you're completely stuck on the page, confused and somewhat dazzled by it's sheer beauty. That's what this is to me. Sheer beauty and artistic freedom, but with a dangerous hard to define undercurrent. That's what life is, and should be about. Bowie was a king and we know it. Now, let's honour him by living more free and express ourselves more. Hail Bowie forever. Let's do this. X

I love this song, and it's still mind-blowing that this was the way David chose to promote Outside in 1995 - talk about risk-taking! Hands-down, the most uncommercial single he ever released (and yes I'm including "The Laughing Gnome" in that!). A magnificent track. As for the video... time has made me appreciate it a bit more, but I remember at the time thinking it was trying too hard to appeal to the NIN audience, and missing the mark.

I am not a lady, much as I try, but at times compelled to swear, Oh man, I fucking love this video, awesome, like he went inside my head and seen my worst places, fucking filthy, but so interesting, arty and compelling, the video I mean, not me. He was so ahead in his visuals. 1995, more contemporary now than ever, amazing.

How great is it to read all the new comments on these videos of people still enjoying his work? This is coming up 3 decades old and it still feels fresh. The thought of something from 1969 looking this "new" in 1995 doesn't compute yet this does that very thing in 2021.
