only for awhile, though. He sobered up after awhile. He had class, manners, everything. I know he wasn't perfect, but he was only human. We shouldn't judge because we would probably be judged ourselves, but his good qualities were amazing. He wasn't God anything, but he was a really decent man.
Bowie the God of Music period! RIP in Rock and Roll heaven we all miss you. Dear God please take Gaga, Madonna, and Bieber and send us back Bowie, Lennon, and Hendrix...
+Kevin Menkhus Yes, I am realizing this more and more too for each day passing, with a sinking feeling in my heart. Now, there are noone, will never be anyone who even remotely can match him. Thank you for writing what I think a lot of people are thinking. Take care.
It is hard to choose. As I looked at all the albums, I thought about each song I have heard, each one that I have loved in its turn. I think the point I was trying to make is that I would not say one is better than another, but that I like one over another. It is not about the quality of the song and singer, but the preference of the listener.
+Al Tavers I had the pleasure of seeing Bowie in 83 for the serious moonlight tour. It was unusual in that their was no warm-up band. He just performed had an intermission and then played some more. A completely electric performer. The world lost one of the true greats.
+Al Tavers - My friends mother saw him live and in the mid 70s no less, she said it was utterly mind blowing, she said it was like seeing God LOL! I can see it too, in those videos of him playing live in the 70s, the audience is basically going nuts. She said everyone in her class back then had Bowie notebooks, tee shirts, buttons, him and Elton John all the teen girls went nuts over. The boys went nuts for Led Zeppelin and what's crazy is tickets usually cost $6 to $10 bucks back then which is about $30 - $50 bucks in todays money. Imagine that, you could see Bowie or Zeppelin in their prime for $30 freakin bucks. What are concert tickets now for a big name? $150? And that's only if it isn't scalped.
Georgie Thumbs My first concert was The Beatles in San Diego, 1965, I was 13 maybe 14. Tickets were $3.50, $4.50 and $5.50. We got the $5.50 seats, that was a lot of money back then.
He always remained popular dispite some dips in his career, Bowie had charm, intelligence, vunerable, and above all endless creativity to keep re inventing himself. Wonderful voice, style and charisma. Been a fan forever. Devastated when he left us too soon.
He was never fully truly mainstream.. He was always doing his own shit, in his own style. He set the trends, he never followed them. If he was mainstream it was because he found success and people made it mainstream after people liked and/or copied his unique style, making it mainstream after. Or rather, made it popular and a commercial success.
You can't think of anyone with so much creativity and talent because there is no one. It's that simple. Simply making music was too easy for David. He had to invent personas and create performance art. Even that seemed easy for him. It's this simple: There has never been anyone close to him and there never will be. A truly unique genius.
Around 2019 I was working in a Grocery Store and this young College Girl comes in one night wearing a Ziggy T Shirt. I informed her that she needs to watch this as it is the absolute best version that I have ever seen and to also watch Heroes.
@@Gabrielecgomes1 I hope so too. I told a friend of mine to watch the version of Heroes from this show as it is the absolute best that you will ever see. He called me a few days later and said that you were right. The night after Bowie died one of our local college radio stations (UNC) had a tribute to him about And I have to admit for three 18-22 something kids they played a pretty good sample of his work from all eras I probably could not have done any better myself.
You're a great man David Bowie and while we'll miss you in this life, if we put our belief in Einstein, we know you are safe now and living free of illness in a different dimension. I really regret that I never saw you in concert, but you took us by surprise because you seemed so timeless and eternal......who could imagine that you could get old or sick? Thank you very much Ziggy and thank you David Bowie for sharing your rare talent through your amazingly futuristic music and movies.
I think this is the first time I've seen David Bowie perform Ziggy Stardust live since the " Ziggy fairwell concert" at the Hammersmith Odion in '73/74'? After watching it I played it again but closed my eyes and there I was back in '73' ! Absolute genius. R.I.P David Bowie.
Here on Earth , we ' re obliged now to keep going without you , Starman , but well , up here , in Heaven , they sure are delighted to welcome you Sir David, and of course , all concert places are already booked for eternity . Lucky souls they are !
I doubt an artist ever has or ever will ignore his critics in the way David Bowie did...RIP friend... most of us certainly were not ready from your departure.... Safe Journeys....
There will truly never be someone else like him. David has helped me through a lot and I wish I could've thanked him for it. He was a true and honest talent. A real visionary who left a ginormous impact on so many people. Goodnight Ziggy. The world will never be the same.
What stands out to me about Bowie as a performer is he was a master of what NOT to do when singing rock. Several things in this performance stand out as good examples. One is that he doesn't resort to trite, obvious gestures at certain points in the lyrics, like not grabbing his ass when singing the line "god given ass," or his crotch when saying "well hung and snow white tan." And at the very end when singing "Ziggy played...guitar" he could have extended the pause between played and guitar, goading the audience into applauding and acknowledging his singing, but he didn't. Maybe some in the audience need trite with their rock, and many performers happily go there, but not Bowie.
+siskokidd He knew that the audience already knew the words. They didn't need illustrations. ;-) But yes, the man was a master performer. That's one of the things that makes he so enjoyable to watch!
this is why the universe gives us people like this.. they are supposed to be remembered forever !! from what I read he was a true gentleman, good Dad ..good friend. and just a gifted artist.... what a life he has led and a legacy he has left behind forever and ever......... ☆☆☆
The Album recommended 'Play It Loud' and boy did I. Purchased this Album upon release in 1972 I was 13 years old! You can never get too old for David Bowie. Thank you for ALL the good vibes David Bowie! _____ Saw him in Concert in 1974 at 15 yrs old. Back then the ticket 🎟️ to the Show cost $20. [ $ USD ] _____ This must have been one kick-ass Concert! _____ We miss you David and yes, we love you! _____
We lost Scott Weiland and Lemmie recently, and those two will be missed for the contributions they made to music, but I took their losses like I would most, it was sad, but it didn't really faze me. Losing Bowie was a kick to the stomach. He was such an iconic figure who influenced so many over his chameleon like changes throughout his wonderful career and the absolute amazing music he made. You will be so missed Mr. Bowie. Rest in Peace to the Thin White Duke.
what a sound! Reminds me of the great sound on Lou Reed's Rock n' Roll Animal...great mix, great drum sound...and what a bass! And of course the Cherry on the cake, David loving every moment! I've now watched this 6 times...pur magic. R.I.P. David
I think Bowie was more of a popper. And I mean it without any disrespect. Mick and Axl are way more "rockstar" than Bowie was, however all of them are great musicans. And this one rocks of course :)
What a performance...world class! And the girl on the bass guitar..such nice and soulful playing and also a very cute woman 😎 R.I.P. Master of the universe 🙏🏿🌈
The quintessential Rock and Roll Star. Quite possibly his best song. RIP David. Thank you for everything you did for our music. Style, good looks, a voice to kill, even malamute eyes. Dude's got it all.
Ziggy played guitar .... RIP.... Quite possibly his best song. RIP David. Thank you for everything you did for our music. ZIGGY IS IMORTAL FOREVER. THANKS LEGEND.
Voice like no other!!! David and barry gibb.. another different unique voice! One baritone and alto, another tenor and soprano capability! Love them both, and both sooo handsome!!!
