This is smokin hot rock star David Cook... showing his amazing versatility with amazing vocal range! He can just pull you in and wrap you around his heart! Just beautiful!
I am a phantom fan... I love theatre. I was worried how he'd pull off broadway this week...and now..all I can say is, I LOVE HIS VOICE more! He did amazing! He already has won for me. THIS guy has a huge future!
David is definitely going to play Phantom on Broadway. He is the best on American Idol this season. I would even go as far as to say he is the best so far. And I am a huge Carrie fan.
You always do such a great job putting these together -- I look forward to them every week! Thank you. The ending note of that song takes my breath away.
He's saying that Archuleta has too much of a fan base and Cook probably won't get the votes. Truth be told, that's probably what's up. I'm still voting for Cook
it's very bluesy-sounding. it's a great recording by a pop-star. it's hard to compare him to the likes of crawford, warlow, panaro, etc. apples to oranges, my friends.
that being said, if his voice wasn't so...smoky (i hesitate to say raspy), he has great tone and vibrato. with a little help, he could have a great classical sound. he's halfway there. nice high notes! good solid ending, too.
I would love it if he played Phantom. I know he's not particularly a broadway performer but his voice is great for the part. Then again, not particularly an opera tone...
I agree, there are lots of professional singer's versions that are better (and before I get ragged on, I am a huge David Cook fan); however, this is the best version by a non-professional singer
Michael Crawford is a great actor but that voice, though expressive, is not even in the BALL PARK with David's!!! MC has a thin little tenor voice and DC's is rich, resonant, huge, and shimmering. Trust me, there is no comparison! I have seen them both live. And heard them. The overtones Cook gets are in another stratosphere from MOST singers, so it is no knock agst Michael Crawford. David is in a league of his own.
Umm, i just have a question... All the ppl that are saying this is the best version they have ever heard, plz go and listen to these performances, and then you may continue proclaiming it if you so wish: Misheal Crawford, Colm Wilkinson, Andy Warlow, Brad Little, Gerard Butler, and maybe some others. Then tell me if you still think he's the best. I'm not ragging on him as a singer, i just think these ppl are better... :D
There is a difference between the real Phantoms and David, the note that everyone is going crazy over at 1:51 is not even in his head voice. He is doing it as a falsetto/ mix. That makes the note a lot easier. He sang it well but him singing as the Phantom just does not seem like the best thing for him
He has a beautiful voice but I dont think it's right for the phantom. He needs more passion, more anger, more fury, more hatred, more bitterness. he sings it almost TOO perfectly, which is great for some songs, but a song like this needs to be raw.
