Yes you can’t sue people for doing impressions that is what he’s saying, and a musical artist using his persona and songs isn’t similar to a comedian doing a bit impersonating you, people will take his songs and lyrics out of context that’s probably what he’s against, the guy didn’t say he isn’t protective of his music, or that him not taking down a comedy bit means he lets anyone do anything with his music, literally the most basic Tom waits fan knows about the cases you’re talking about, they aren’t these deep cuts you’re making them seem like, the guy said tom wouldn’t care about this and would probably find it funny and I agree. Nothing you said implies otherwise and the fact you think there’s anything to “get” is stupid, it sounds like you just wanted an opportunity to shove these lawsuits into the convo to be like “yeah you’re clearly not as big a Tom waits fan as me” when those cases really don’t have any relevance to this comedy act, besides them both involving people referencing Tom waits lmao

BugPope Tom Waits is pretty much a religion to me. But I thought this is hilarious. Perhaps my fellow Tom Waits devotees, might have been upset because there was no actual Tom Waits in this video. A bit of a let down......

I was born in 1990 and I do. He's kind of a timeless artist. His music sounds like it was influenced by the 1920s. Sort of. You really don't need to be of the era his music was made because his music is not exactly of any era.

That's heartbreaking. You're missing out. Imagine the most annoying successful pop artist, with 15 sexy dancers backing them up. Now think of all the costume changes they go through in one concert. Tom Waits is the opposite of that.

The music absolutely sounds like Tom Waits, if anything I’d say the synth noise should probably have been a piano but other than that it’s spot on, could have been an intro to anything from Swordfishtrombones or Mule Variations
