Stunning performance by David Ford of the (almost) title song from his album 'Songs For The Road'. It is such a song and it was such a moving performance that the girl simply started crying...it was an amazing moment.
18 years ago when my dear mother passed, I woke up in a full crying fit and this song was on tv live. Today as my father goes to join her again this song came back to me again. God bless
Hey Jason, thanks for your very moving and heartfelt comment. I was David's manager at that time and it was an incredible performance and one which, as you demonstrate, still resonates all these years later. Our commiserations and best wishes go out to you at this time. love DW & DF
he is by far the most under appreciated talent out there in the music industry. He's not flashy, but unlike alot of the "artists" out there now he has substance. I saw him live as well when he performed in New York. State of the Union is a fantastic song.
Outstanding. Seen Mr Ford live on 3 occasions & he is simply a wonderful musician, intelligent emotional lyricist and has a good sense of humour. Make the effort to go & see him if he is playing near you, always guaranteed to be a memorable night.
David Fords music has a certain quality about it that can evoke emotion that humans didn't even know they had. Simply amazing, an actual musician. I'm sick of entertainers claiming to be musicians... Cheers to David Ford!
I was at Latitude in 2006 on my stag do when I first heard this. He was, by far, the best performer that weekend. I used the last verse of this song as the end of my wedding speech: "now, I don't like using words like forever...". I finished in floods of tears, as did everyone else. Right b*gger to track down the lyrics, though, not knowing what the song was called.
This is only the second song I've heard of yours David, and I'm absolutely hooked. You're one of the best writers/singers I've heard in years. Much respect, Carol.
David Ford is the greatest unknown musician right now. I dont understand how this guy is not huge. So much more talented than these pop singers we have to put up with.
Lovely simple video of one of a very poignant song... The lyrics and melody are superb and it's a future classic in my opinion. In admiration, Carol Douglas.
I've heard the piano version a million times, but this is first time I've heard the acoustic version..and I must say...this version is just as fantastic as the piano one...everytime I listen to his music I get goosebumps...absolutely amazing performer...and for those who haven't heard any of his other songs...go listen to State of The Union...freakin fantastic..!!!!
Here's a unique idea guys......shall I leave a comment about the actual tune? Tis amazin',every note and word perfectly perfect, A DJ at our radio station in Scotland introduced me to this guys music and I can't thank him enough! Thx for postin' it x
@valkyrieVigil I'd be prepared to bet that this guy will still be playing and performing long after J Blunt is just a distant happy clappy crappy memory... A lot of good music ends up labelled as Not Commericial Enough.
@razorbladekisses101 - Unfortunately you don't seem to grasp the fact that a person has more success making a point by showing great character. For someone telling others to "Get a life" you sure stayed on this argument for a while..
