First time saw David Grisman was around 1977 at Sonoma County Fair featured Tony Rice and Daryl Anger I believe on violin. The Norton Buffalo Stampede played there too Lovin In The Valley of The Moon. Valley of The Moon is a stretch between east Santa Rosa and Sonoma California. I had a guitar repair and finish shop back then. The music was of the charts became a Grisman fan the first song he played. Thanks for posting this brought back great memories.

Sweet. In spite of a long history in Bluegrass, I had never heard of a Loar until more recent times when I started checking out jazz guitars. Although I've certainly seen ones I liked over the years, just didn't know what they were, only that they sounded good.(!) This is a one-of-a-kind mandolin. Beautiful tone, you can hear it well in the video. Thanks for sharing a happy, peaceful moment. Happy Father's Day.

Fascinating. Thanks! But don't sell Crusher short. It's one of the most iconic mandolins in history - entirely, not just bluegrass. And you know, Grisman plays a LOT more than bluegrass, and has for many years on this fabulous instrument.

There's a reason why he has covered up The Gibson. Along with Frank Wakefield using electrical tape to cover his. I heard a story once upon a time.

It sounds like The Prisoner’s Waltz with some improvised sections. If I’m correct, it’s from the original Tone Poems album with Tony Rice.
