Takes me back to a Friday night watching this in my room - time flies

one of my very favorite scenes from Vice

I never forgot this party scene while watching Vice - I was like I cant wait to move to Miami

This is just a perfect example of how spectacular Miami vice was. Not only did it literally establish the TV crime drama trend it had a massive impact on fashion/music. Songs were made specifically for the show + would often delay release after it was featured on the show. Sad things is sometimes song like these nowadays aren't even easily found... I could only find this on youtube, you can't get it on spotify.

I think this is the episode “Dutch Oven.”

David Johansen is amazing, whoever he chooses to be.

I was watching Miami Vice reruns on TNN, and this episode came up. I was absolutely blown away by how good this song was, and I've been a fan of David Johansen ever since!

God, I would kill for a good recording of this. This could bring down the house at any 80's night.

Although not released until his 1984 album, I saw David perform this song, complete with the big hat, in 1982 when he opened for The Who on their US tour.

He looks like Mick Jagger

It's on his solo album Sweet Revenge, from 1984. The CD pressing of the album has an audio glitch during this song, unfortunately.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, Johansen never recorded this. I don't know why, since it's so good, and so natural for him.

I just realized he looks a little like Mick Jagger in this video. "King of Babylon" was easily his best song ... Nothing else came close.

Look at that crop top! I wonder, I'd umm, other an actual king got the idea to wear one from this episode.

Sweet Revenge was his best solo album. I know the New York Dolls reunited, but I will not see them because two of their key members have dies and its not the same seeing a band with only half its original members.
