Hearing him speak reveals it’s likely David Perron will be wearing the winged wheel again for years to come. I hope Yzerman can come to a reasonable agreement with him.
He's on record so many times saying he doesn't want to play anywhere else. I really like Perron. We need a stable core if we are going to become contenders again. I watched us raise 4 cups. So many of the same guys on each team
Same, he’s the kind of vet you want to keep around. Still productive, good special teams guy, very experienced and has won a cup, and he’s a good leader to the youngins.
This guy is the best, you couldn’t ask for someone to handle themselves better - plays his heart out and holds the team to a high standard. Doesn’t shy away from any frustration or hard questions just lays it out there all the time.
I’ve always looked forward to his post game interviews because I love his selfless personality and passion for the game so much! I hope you are a RW for years to come DP!
@@theawayfan6052 I also love that he’s always on the guys asses about points because he keeps up with standings and he’s not afraid to admit that, a lot of others pretend they don’t pay attention to it. He’s just as real as he can be and wants to do anything possible to help the team win. Love his veteran presence!
I would love to have this guy back. He was so clutch down the stretch. Hes a great leader. I think he would probably have to take a pay cut though. Or sign for the same deal as his first contract.
There are very few players in the league today who are better at what Perron is at what constitutes him being elite at it. It's a bit of a shame that he's only getting older and slower, true. However, his leadership qualities are so important for all young people who come in sooner or later. Perron should have a two-year contract and be happy to do the crap job in the bottom 6, that's how important he actually is and he also needs to be relieved in his own team role as he has had in the team.
Perron talks we and Kane talks they. I think we know who’s most likely returning. I’m hoping some younger guys beat Perron out for top 6 minutes if he does come back. That would be a good scenario for the Wings.
Man if Steve doesn't keep him, then that would be nuts. He's been so huge for us and I know he wants to be here. Let's hope Steve treats him right and sees this too
I wouldn’t mind him coming back at team friendly number. You could put him Copp and Ras as that 3rd checking line because I don’t think Fischer will be back.
I personally think Fischer is more important to the line-up. A penalty killing, energy guy that everyone loves and his cap hit is very low. In saying that, I'd love them to bring back Perron too. Seems like an incredible locker room guy who's vocal leadership compliments Larkin's quiet, but all round leadership.
I hope he returns and finishes his career with the Wings but hopefully not for a few more years. I know age is catching up to him but he's a leader, a gamer, and is the kind of teammate and role model our young guys need.
Guy obviously fell off 5v5 as he’s gotten older, but you can tell how important he is to the team. Hope they can work out a deal and maybe just shelter him a little more at 5v5 next year.
We have 27 million in cap space. If we need to shed more cap space we could. Also, next off season more comes of the books. Were ok cap wise. The only contracts i dont like are Holl and Copps. I think Compher played up to his deal. He had a career high in goals this season. 1 goal shy of 20. Thats not bad for a solid two way foward. If only Copp could chip in more offensively, his contract i could stomach better. But Copp is very good defensively. I'll give him that.
