David brings Christ alive into our hearts through his superb voice and delivery! He brings every song to life and this is first time I've ever been able to totally comprehend O' Holy Night and what it means for our salvation.
Jerod, I love David Phelps's big, round notes on this song, and his incredible (and almost UNBELIEVABLE) power and range. David is my favorite male singer, as well. In fact, I believe he is the finest singer - male or female - I have EVER heard. My God, the way he BELTS! I have always loved the way this song BUILDS, but he takes it to a peak and a level I have NEVER heard ANY other singer accomplish. Yet, he knows all about nuance and restraint, too. And, THANK GOD, he doesn't inflict any of those irritating runs or riffs that are so prevalent nowadays, on the listener (I REALLY loathe them.) Thank you, Jerod, for this video. Watching and listening to this performance is nothing less than a transcendent experience.
David Phelps is amazing. My favorite part is how he delivers songs. It is so moving. Some day if you need encouragement you should listen to (not react) him sing “More Than Ever”. His delivery is beautiful and it brings me to tears every time. At the same time he reminds us that we are precious and loved.

David Phelps is the best. His voice is impeccably incredible. You nailed it when you said he has an incredible way of delivering a song and its' message that goes straight go the soul.
David Phelps is a man who can sing anything and give you chills! I have only been listening to his music for about two years but he is definitely, far and away, my favorite singer! My husband passed away last year in June and I listen to my playlist every day. I have been fortunate enough to see him in concert twice in the last year and if you want to talk about chills, we can talk chills! His version of Nessun Dorma (one of my all time favorites!) can bring you to your knees!! Thanks, Jerod M for this format and, please, keep doing what you're doing!!
He has the unique ability to bring the roof down on just about every venue he does. His range is outrageous and his voice is so crisp every time. I absolutely have major respect for him.
RIP Anthony Burger (1961-2006). He passed away doing what he was well known for, playing piano, live on a Florida cruise ship when, according to what I have read, some audience members noticed his hands clenched on the piano and he collapsed.

He definitely is my favorite male singer. I listen to the Gaither Vocal Band every day an have 49 dvd's. I ordered the dvd's I picked out the ones that has David Phelps is mostly on. This is my prayer to see David in concert once again
David is my favorite vocalist in any genre. He gets better and better with age. I my humble opinion, no male vocalist can touch him in vocal ability: control, purity, power and range.
@@davidedwards3361 I think he is still able to hit those long high notes but he changed his singing technique a few years back to save his voice and to enable himself to sing for many more years with a healthy voice. I'm sure he is trying to make the best vocal choices for his age. Every once in a while he lets loose though. LOL.

Not an easy note to hit...and he did it three times in about 20 seconds. I have seen David 11 times now live, Including twice at his home in the barn...he is the best male vocalist alive on the planet today! There is no doubt in my mind.
I listen to this rendition of Oh Holy Night for many years already and as always it's my favorite. He sang it with God's inspiration deep within him. He is not just entertaining the audience but also conveying the good news in that song. I felt God's presence as I listen to him sing.
Oh David is a favorite of mine also, Mark more which was behind him. This was an older show , my mom owns most all of the Gaithers homecoming CD and we watch them. It was great to see them live .
Oohhh, I forgot about that one! I will have to dig that out and listen to it again. This year I have added Lauren Daigle's Christmas CD and For King and Country's Christmas music. Both are great!
Is it coincidental? Also Morissette is my favorite female Singer and David Phelps my Male favorite Singer. Actually for Female Singers I have 3 top 1 and for Male Singers, 4 of them on my top 1. I love the open throat of David Phelps when he sings. You understand and feel every word when he sings..... Goosebumps everywhere!!! Amazing reaction!!!
David has a new Christmas album which you should consider. One of my favorites is "We are the Reason" and he's doing a duet with Charlotte Richie, a brand new version (totally different) of O Holy Night. It's Called Fall On Your Knees, spectacular.
The pianist, Anthony Burger, passed away while doing a solo piano tune while he was on a cruise ship. He had a massive heart attack at 45 years of age. Very sad. He was multi-talented.

Thanks for reacting to David Phelps, whatever that song may be, as I love your humble, heartfelt, genuine feelings, my friend. David has an almost 4-octave range--in FULL voice--as well as having perfect pitch. No need for Autotune here! I played trumpet throughout college, and I looove the shininess, the brilliance of brass. His voice, in the upper registers, has that same quality. As you've probably noticed, David's usual style is building...building...building until he hits a top note and people say, "Wow!!" And then he jumps an entire octave and people go, "WHOA!!!" May I make another suggestion? I was there, in 2005, for this performance of "Just As I Am" for the taping of his first solo DVD--it will demonstrate what I'm talking about. Look up Lara Fabian and her perfect pitch and fabulous resonance. I think you'll like her. I love her because, like David Phelps, Lara is a great deliverer of every song she sings. She can sing in (12) languages. Just a bit of trivia for you to chew on and she's beautiful, as well........
David is one singer who pronounces the word dIV not dev ! Divine does not have an E at the beginning ! In fact David is the ONLY singer that I have heard pronounce divine correctly , even ones who are supposed to be "stars" . My music teacher in High School did a great job in teaching " diction" , I'm 81 now and I still remember what he ( my teacher) taught ! I just want to cringe when I hear one sing out and loud , oh night DEVINE !!! David I know. You will keep on singing with correct fiction ! Love your singing ! What a voice GOD has given you , keep on singing with Him !!
I know you're not really that into country, but please consider doing Martina McBride's version of "O Holy Night" she does an amazing job. Also for a comparison video, PTX has come out with "Where Are You Christmas" (though it's just audio right now) that vs the original by Faith Hill would be interesting to see. I love both versions and can't decide if I like one more than the other.

David Phelps doesn't hit his extremely high notes in this song, but it shows a very tender side. The song...Away in a Manger with Sleep Little Baby. Love his No More Night as well.
I'm sorry Jarrod. Your credibility took a dive when you said Mariah Carey was good. The only thing she is good at is adding in hundreds of notes that weren't written, and ruining whatever song she has chosen to destroy with her vocal gymnastics.
