@sheridanfalkenberry5611 I agree it SHOULD be common sense but sadly common sense is not that common. Don't say "you don't need Scripture". You ALWAYS need Scripture.
And to say the itemized budget would be ~45 pages long as a reason not to provide that- what!? That may be a long list, but for the kind of money involved, it isn't like it wouldn't be worth having. Heck, even if the itemization was binned together a bit, such that it was 5-10 pages long, that would have at least given a reassuring gist of what it was going to, although I suppose knowing what it was going to would've been disastrous for the leadership.
I can almost guarantee that Platt and his cronies knew what they were doing before he accepted the position of pastor. There's no way that all of the opposing members could have their memberships go inactive all at once.
So glad Jesus said “whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light, and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.” Your day is coming, David Platt. Christ will not be mocked.
56:49 This whole situation is grieving my spirit, and, I dare say God’s Spirit. I can’t help shedding tears…Thank God for these faithful members standing up for the truth, and for order and transparency in Christ’s Body.
This documentary is being shown on another channel and on part two there is this one guy who said the doc makers need to repent. I asked what is he talking about, like why do they need to repent. I am hoping he gives me answer. It appears to me that what Platt and those elders did has to be made public, but I am not sure if that is right or not.
@@SolidRock92 It is absolutely right & good to expose this evil as clearly & fully as possible to the whole world. Right now secular movements of domination are having an adulterous affair with half the church, especially the most powerful successful ones. These movements hold to very different beliefs and commitments. They self-righteously practice lying to fulfilled their agendas & power. The culture knows this already, with a little effort. They know that Christianity is vulnerable because the cultural realities have changed radically. This is already known. What is not known is what the church will do about it, how it will play out. Secular organizations would have been better able to see God's writing on the walls, a writing clear with common sense truth. If church is a place where evil is more likely to have full rein, then the mentalities of niceness & self-protection or simply cowardliness have put us in chains.
Alex ~ WOW! lts grieving my spirit too, :( l remember following this story when it happened. l hope this is not hidden and pervasive in many other churches. l pray this is an outlier. l know many Christians have secret sins, but l pray the elders of most reformed leaning churches would not do this. (Of course l'm not speaking of the obviously crooked churches of the prosperity gospel movement).
It’s grieving my spirit too. I’ve not cried this much in a long time. I’m grieved over our the state of our churches and nation. I see these kinds of ruthless people rising up everywhere…those who give no second thought to manipulating, deceiving and lying for their own purposes. We need to pray against the spiritual forces that are at work and we need to pray for discernment and strength to stand for what’s right even if threatened or accused because unless our nation returns to God,this will only get worse. We need to repent of our own sin and then ask God what our part is in our fight against evil. Put on the armor, brothers and sisters, because we are in a battle!
This is so shocking, have they no fear of God. Woe to them who are wolves preying on Christs sheep, there end will be utter ruin. May God grant them repentance.
I personally experienced the fall of this church when the single mom's ministry, which I had to work to get established, didn't spend ONE PENNY of the church's funds except to use a room in the church several times a month on a Sunday, was told that we were not a "viable mission" anymore and that we could not meet. I was told in an email. Such a crushing disgrace when you understand what was going on behind the scenes.
What is stunning is how ignorant the guys who were handling the money seem to be. They can answer NO questions directly, they seemingly know nothing definite about the millions of dollars they were handling. To me it looks like they turned that church into a criminal operation.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; leave Me, you who practice lawlessness.’” - Matthew 7:21-23
@@PetiteFlower333 The same way "mature" people stood up and said "81 million votes." Absolutely the same methodology. Orchestrated. Installed. The same mind is behind so much.
Is there specific evidence Platt has ever told a person to "vote for" a pro abortion candidate? If not, you are guilty of the same accusations the documentary seems to be making.
I hope I’m not the only person that sees SBC all over this story. I think the SBC has been corrupted for years. There’s good things that come out of the SBC, but people still throw good food in the garbage. I don’t see SBC churches lining up at the garbage can for dinner.
No. This entire thing REEKS of the SBC. Absolutely reeks. Money grubbing liberals using Socialist political manipulations and Alinski's Rules for... uh... RADICALs (what an interesting title) under the guise of "love" and "Bible" and "ministry." Makes me sick.
When a celebrity pastor "out there" falls, they tell you to stop idolizing celebrity pastors and focus on your local body. This is the local body for these people. And it's happening everywhere.
This is why so many are ready to abandon the "institutional church"; it too much resembles a corporation and not a place of worship or fellowship. Corporate power moves, lust for power, millions in income/expenditures, budget battles, and reliance on civil authorities in church matters. Members being excommunicated for no resaon, "leaders" ignoring their own rules to avoid challenges...shameful. Just shameful.
Yep, also note that instead of holding their elders accountable directly, they involve unbelievers in the form of the courts. Also, they allow women to vote on who become elders.
If David Platt suddenly decides he’s “called” to Nepal where he goes often, don’t believe it. He’s running Incidentally, I preach in Nepal almost every year. It’d be interesting to see him and confront him.
Years ago I heard David Platt speak a couple of times on You Tube. He seemed somewhat disingenuous to me so I never continued listening to him. I am not surprised by any of this. Still I feel somewhat shaken, watching this. I recently followed the story of another church body going through the same thing. Actually several church bodies, over the past 5 or so years. This is so far divorced from what the body of Christ should be, that it no longer is. I am not talking about the general congregation, I am referring to the leadership, elders, deacons, pastors. My heart aches for all these people represented here over these two video presentations, who have suffered the indignities and the hurt produced by David Platts take over. I feel sad for so many of the people who have stayed there, for what ever reason they do. This is one of the many reasons why I personally firmly believe we need to get back to smaller congregations, and house churches. We have to re think church, as in New testament early church. Large congregations often unwittingly invite the wolves to come in and take over for fame and gain, or to further an agenda by a larger organisation. David Platt is unquestionably one of those wolves, and he has a pack.
@greyciousme So true! Mega churches just don't work! Too many opportunities for power-hungry people to infiltrate and influence. I would love to find a small, theologically sound, country church... I'm afraid they have become nearly extinct. Churches were never supposed to be about "numbers". Only about discipleship....read The Great Commission!
God is in complete control! David Platt is God's tool for winnowing the wheat from the chaff. The faithful are being scattered to grow the church, Christ's body, in smaller churches. I, like you, believe that smaller churches are better. There is swiftly coming the time when believers will have to meet in small, hidden congregations. I think God is preparing us for just that time. The big churches will have to crumble. Those who are fighting to save MBC are exposing Platt and his administration for the wolves they are.
@@jdavies212msuLight purifies. Wolves need to be exposed for the preservation and purity of the whole church. Not just MBC. The more light the better. This evil needs to be exposed.
@@jdavies212msu Globally exposing false teachers and wolves in the church is entirely biblical. It happens multiple times in the New Testament and the general sentiment is that these things need to be dealt with before they can cause damage like this. Platt should never have been in the pulpit in the first place. He should have never been given a leadership position. Anyone who was deceptive enough to conduct this and then justify hiding it is nothing more than a child of the father of lies. They need to repent.
I too love the church and it is heartbreaking to hear these accounts from people who so clearly long to worship, serve, love and belong in Christ's body, and had their church stolen from them by tyrants.
@@gizzeconstruction It's not fake drama. They got removed from the church that they spent so many hours serving. That would make me pretty sad if it were me.
Wow! What a story! Unbelievable! Riveting! Thank you Jon for posting Parts 1 and 2. What stood out to me is the courage of those who stood up against this evil regime. What Jeremiah and his wife did took a lot of boldness. Another thing that stood out to me is how weak David Platt is. Even though he makes a grand show like the Wizard of Oz, in reality, he is a vain, wicked man. Like it says in Psalm 1 about the ungodly: They are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. (One thing I'm left wondering which maybe I missed the details in Part 1......was Lon forced out? ) I hate that long time members have had their church stolen from them in such a traumatic, degrading way. I pray they are able to find healthy local churches to be a part of. I pray members who came in under David Platts leadership have their eyes open and begin to leave the church in droves. I pray justice is served, the truth prevails, and God is glorified!
You said yourself that Platt is wicked, so he and his team should be forced out. Why should a congregation that has appropriately invested so much in their church be the ones to leave? Members who have not received coherent answers to their questions should put their tithes and offerings "into escrow" until the unjust stewards are purged from the ranks of the administration. Members should fight for the sanctity of the church and expel the rot.
Ever since he put out the book Radical the indications that Platt was an evangelical Left guy were there. You cannot ignore such indications and hope for the best. You have to keep people like that as far away as possible from leadership.
@@melissascott5395 I read the book years ago when I first bought it (I don't remember any of it). I was ignorant then but looking at all the markings I left I am reading those in a new light. What I know now about false teachers, woke, NAR, etc I can see through it all. I hope and pray others will as well.
@@LeonardGarden Did you watch the videos? The members sought to follow church constitutional procedures to address the problems but the evil leaders skirted around proper procedures or even proper Biblical practices to run those members out.
So they shuttered all the ministries and funneled the tithes into Platt’s own “ministry”, the SBC, and fake church starts. What a con game. I’d really like to know who at SBC is getting all the kickbacks.
It "technically" isn't, but to use that as an out is both slimy and dishonest, by the standard of letting one's "No" be a no, rather than a, "well yes, but technically no."
Whether it is technically a denomination or not. It also, maybe especially, is deeply implicated in this documentary. They need to come clean and explain what happened. As an outsider, I see a church organization that should in no way be trusted by any honest person at all.
Wow this is huge. Thank you for doing this documentary. That church should have no members attending. They eventually will have to shut down if people are not coming.....
We are experiencing this very same thing in our long-standing wonderful Church ⛪️. The Founders have since gone to be with the Lord and Savior ✝️. That is when ours began. But, God our Abba Father will always protect His Sheep. Who He redeemed. We are making progress because we are Preaching His Son, Jesus Christ 📖.
So you haven’t read him? You’re going to let a one sided RU-vid video confirm your “deep in your heart” feeling? I’d recommend reading a book of his, or listening to a sermon.
Watching this documentary, especially part 2, sounds a lot like a Calvary Chapel I use to go to. One guy in control, surrounded by yes men, any kind of questioning about how things are done is met with hostility because you are not being loyal. We never had a congregational meeting and church discipline was never brought before the church because ( in my opinion) that would damage the image of the church. They did kicked people out of the church but it was all done hush hush. It will be interesting to see if Platt responds to this video.
Lon Solomon - responds to a person promising to personally help them regarding a matter he had no knowledge of, and nothing to do with, just out of his own compassion. David Platt - leaves the room when a conflict arises. Who is a real pastor? And who is a "personality", a glib speaker with no accountability?
No, SBC didn’t take over MBC. David Platt took over MBC and covertly moved MBC to the SBC. Churches join SBC. SBC doesn’t take over churches. This is all on David Platt.
My first awareness of MBC and Platt was after DJT’s visit. Platt’s bizarre behavior and the things that he was saying raised serious red flags. Without knowing anything about MBC or Platt, I was able to discern 1) This was not a healthy church. 2) Platt was giving off fraud vibes-a sly wolf. I wondered, was I the only person seeing through the charade? Thankfully, no. Thank you, LORD, that you are exposing hungry wolves, thieves and robbers, and purifying Your church. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for courageous men and women who choose not to run away from wicked men. This infiltration and takeover is happening across the US. And we wonder why people, who claim to be Christians, are confused and weighed down with sin and false doctrine. They know so little about the Word of God. God Bless John MacArthur for recently saying what needed to be said, when G3, Founders Ministries, Ligonier and others have failed to communicate the gravity of what Steve Lawson did so cleverly. If John MacArthur can be deceived, we’re all vulnerable to being devoured. This is a teachable moment and not a time for silence. John 10:12 He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.
My guess is Platt was positioning himself to make a play for the SBC Presidency. Nothing else would explain his dirty backroom deals, the hefty donations and drive to make MBC the number one SBC Virginia church. It is a heavy play for money and power, and it is very rotten.
Affiliating with elements in the SBC is how Platt consolidates power and control over the money and focus of the church. He's a liberal and wants to run the church in a way that most of the congregation would be against if they knew everything he was doing.
Part 1 of the documentary explains that it is in violation of the Church's constitution. Even if there is nothing wrong in principle about being affiliated with the SBC the fact that the affiliation was covered up, denied, and all conducted under subterfuge makes it a violation of the principle found in the ninth commandment.
If all the members left the church, got together else where, GOD will be there. Fear not people, God warned us this could/would happen. He is with us, not a fancy building ❤
I thought it would be a fun question to ask Microsoft’s Copilot. Here was the response. Yes, McLean Bible Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). The church began officially partnering with SBC ministries in 2016 to plant churches and send missionaries around the world. Despite some internal controversies and debates over this affiliation, McLean Bible Church is confirmed as a member of both the SBC and the Southern Baptist State Convention of Virginia.
Wherever money flows, the wolves are never far behind. The allure of institutional churches can sometimes lead us astray. Without a firm grounding in His Word, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life can easily draw us in.
Such manipulative tactics! SBC leadership should be held accountable for the damage. I’m so weary of bad pastors and leadership! This shows we must be diligent in protecting the church. Wolves are among us!
If you've ever wondered why the Apostle John mentioned someone named Diotrephes, this documentary may give you a clue. I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not. Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church. III John 9-10
Platt is a tyrant and an effeminate coward at the same time. He is an Ezekiel 34 shepherd who feeds himself and does not care for the flock whom he domineers.
The church made a mistake in wanting a “celebrity” pastor. Platt made a mistake in thinking he could just come in and do whatever he wanted. His bullying tactics didn’t work. And his CRT woke teachings are just a pathetic attempt to be culturally relevant. Platt should have stuck to his bread and butter missions messages, and never left the church he built himself in Alabama. The grass isn’t always greener. He found out the hard way. Let’s pray for MBC (or what’s left of it) and for David Platt to be humbled and repent.
I know this stuff happens in small churches but just maybe we need to get back to smaller gathering where Christ is the head and multiple Elders are present with no salary expectation. We all help one another and become the family and community we are called to be.
It looks to me as though too many of the elders went for the "okey doke" uncertain of their role as magistrates charged with protecting the flock. Thank God for documents, but bylaws require diligent application. We are in a war with the evil one who is capable of using even ambivalence and "benefit of the doubt" to do much harm.
@LeonardGarden Well stated! VIGILENCE that our church constitutions will be adhered to in every detail by old and new leadership should receive the effort necessary to protect your (His) congregation. I repent my apathy and lack of attention on developments currectly unfolding at my church. What a wake-up call this documentary is!!!
Keep in mind, the entire church is now corrupt. Platt will leave, but that won't solve the problem because he's filled the place with other pastors that are woke, a bunch of elders that support the woke church and all the congregants that saw through this have left. So it is essentially lost forever.
Why is no one holding SBC accountable by accepting all that money. If there was no huge corporation like SBC this wouldn't of happened. SBC is corrupt in itself.
I’m so appreciative of this documentary and on a sidenote, it has confirmed to me the unbiblical presence of a “security team” and the using of tithe money to pay for a police officer to be present in a church!
Those last 2 points hit hard. 1. Children being groomed by a pedophile and elders/deacons do nothing. 2. Offerings by congregants into the 6 figures plus being given to lawyers & courts in an attempt to cling to power, position & prestige. What a testimony for the world to see, and a blight, by apparent goats, on Christ’s power to sanctify his sheep. Excellent documentary.
The way Platt and other MBC leaders handled the concerns/dissent at annual meetings (security team threats, telling members they can't record events, etc.) is so completely contrary to what Christ expects of His Church. Shame on them.
@paulstone8900 Ah, you again. You don't know your Scriptures well, so you're here to just question every reasonable thing people say in this comments section and only tear down and create confusion.
@paulstone8900 They were left no choice. The lawsuit was their only way to get the information. Allowing this to remain undiscovered would be evil. This is a proper use of the civil magestrate in Romans 13.
@@paulstone8900 The disgruntled group tried several times and ways to get information. There are others who reached out to church leadership and were simply ignored. There were several letters sent to Platt and the elders that outlined very specific concerns about Platt, CRT, the finances, and the lack of transparency. No one received a response. My husband I attempted to meet with our campus pastor to discuss it and he hedged that he didn't know anything about it and would research. When asked direct questions at the congregational meetings lhey lied or gave vague answers. My husband and I had a 2 hours long Zoom meeting with one of the elders (he was one of the candidates that we were voting on), to discuss the document on racial justice and the church. We left very unsatisfied and even more concerned about the questionable theology being introduced through CRT. The lawsuits really were the last resort measures taken to try to get answers.
I was a lay person in SBC churches for 50+ years, and I can define the SBC better than the Executive Committee can?? It is an affiliation of INDEPENDENT Baptist churches; it is not a denomination - though everyone pretends and acts like it is, the national org, pastors, and church members. It formed for the sole purpose of pooling money and resources to spread the gospel, to have a greater impact together than each could have had separately. The SBC organization needs to dismantle. It isn’t needed anymore. With the Internet, it isn’t needed, but they are so hungry for power, influence, and money, that they can’t bear the thought of burying it. Every bureaucracy has its corruption, and the SBC is not exempt. They have even used congregants’ donations to argue in legal courts that the SBC is a hierarchical organization with control over SBC churches, akin to the Roman Catholic Church. THIS IS A LIE. I don’t know why churches are still in it, and I don’t know why individuals are still in SBC churches. You kill a monster by cutting off its head - the money. To SBC Church Members: If you insist on giving to your SBC church, designate your gifts to stay at the church, not going to the state or national conventions. It is clear that the MBC didn’t understand what the SBC is, but the SBC staff played word games. They should have directly addressed the intent of the member and admitted affiliation. Despicable. This is why I and many others are out of organized churches. They manipulate and only indoctrinate to the favored systematic. No Bible questions, no discussion. “Believe as I tell you to believe, or you’ll be disciplined and shunned.” Christendom is a complete mess. I’m so thankful I have God’s word and the Holy Spirit.
These members were perfectly sauvy: They knew their constitution; they knew they were establish to be INDEPEDENT and run by the members into perpetuity. Nevertheless a power coop was planned and executed by evil people and evil movements and evil temptations & forces in a very large thriving organization. These movements are getting away with lying throughout our culture and in all institutions. The church needs to change its approach and develop tools to fight back. There is no running. Everyone has to do their part.
Agree. I went to a church that did that; the pastors brother was sentenced to 20 years in jail for fraud. The youth pastor was accused of abusing children.
Every single one of these men is disqualified from ministry. Disgusting. Bringing reproach to the Church is grounds for removal? Then adios, Platt & co. Also, LOL at the female officer issuing unlawful threats.
In retrospect it appears that the rise of David Platt (along with the rise of Russell Moore) was an early portion of the Liberal Resurgence in the Southern Baptist denomination that has very substantially reversed the Conservative Resurgence. Somebody with access needs to write a history of these tragic developments.
Russell Moore is the worst...an overwhelming majority of his Christianity Today staff (or Christianity Yesterday, as some like to call it) donated to Soros-backed causes starting in 2015/2016. He is an absolute wolf! He has no business being in Christian leadership.
Note that Al Mohler has surfed both waves and remains an SBC icon, even if somewhat tarnished. He was the mentor to any number of these types of men, almost all of whom are liberals and the most prominent being the aforementioned Russell Moore.
I fail to understand how they could just take control and rewrite the constitution without it being voted on by the membership. I have been a pastor at the same church for almost 35 years and our church constitution lays out the steps by which it can be amended and it requires a vote of approval by our membership.
The video gives you a sense of how they did it - they terminated people's memberships, surrounded themselves with police and walked away from people who asked questions. When people showed up to protest their wrongful disfellowshipping, they were arrested for trespassing. And they've apparently spent millions of dollars trying to stop or delay lawsuits and other legal actions taken by members of the congregation. Who was to stop them just re-writing the constitution? There's nobody above David Platt and his hand-picked board. The SBC is part of the hostile takeover, so no help there. Platt pre-empted the rights of the congregation. He got SBC backing and deep pockets to capture and destroy MBC.
they did not put any of this before the congregation. before Platt, things would be discussed with an open mic and voted on. He did away with all of that. And fired anyone who opposed him.
It's so sad to see what they are doing to the Church of Jesus Christ by scattering his sheep, seems to me that the true saints of God are standing up for what is right and these men have crept in unaware seeking to devour the flock, I pray they repent before it is too late this is high treason against our King, may the Lord Jesus Christ bring these things to light and God be honored through reconciliation
No. They should repent before God. No one, no one should reconcile and respect these people. That is trivializing of what they did. They are clearly liars for the Lord of fake lovery. They cannot be trusted.
What is most needed here is a presbyterian polity 😜. MBC had a pretty tight constitution and Platt was able to slide in and shred it with cooperation of 3 or 4 liars on the elder board.
Besides the obvious terrible behavior of Platt and the church leadership, this saga really shows the danger that must be consciously guarded against when churches become behemoths like this. Might be an unpopular opinion these days, but I would go so far as to say they should not allow themselves to, but should amicably divide into smaller units that are more accountable where everyone actually knows each other. Under 150 members would probably be an optimal goal.
@@carolbarlow8896 I never said anything to the contrary. However, in such cases the crooked pastors aren't able to misuse or steal millions of dollars. And they're significantly more accountable to the congregants.
@@asahelnettleton9044 You’re right. They can’t steal millions but they can take off with a larger percentage of a small church’s budget than congregants realize. A guess on my part is that it’s due to undeserved trust. “My pastor would never…” I’ve seen it.
Size has a great deal to do with what happened. However, these managers of Woke missions are presently finding new organizations demanding unity to fleece the smaller church. This is actually going on with many congregational polity denominations now. Whatever size has its own challenges, but smaller working units everywhere with solid accountability for each other is for sure essential.
As a former MBC attendee in high school, I am heartbroken by David Platt's mismanagement of resources and focus on political issues. I am going to write to David Platt about this.
Honestly just commenting for the algorithm boost. My heart goes out to all of my brothers and sisters who have been affected by this. I hope you all rest in the truth of Romans 12:19 ❤️
Thank you Jon for posting this. MNC leadership and SBC must be exposed. This is utterly displeasing to the Lord. One reason among other reasons why this must be exposed is that Platt is very influencial. On a personal note, when I spoke with you at the Syracuse, IN Bible conference and shared what I was experiencing at that time, I did not see it then but I clearly see now that the leadership of the church I was attending was doing the exact same things, (except the financial issues), against me and other members of that church by trying to silence us, no public questions, bullying from the pulpit, etc. I also know that that pastor was/is a big Platt supporter.
Box Budget = Slush Fund Platt's takeover was a targeted liquidation against Bible Believers near DC initiated in 2016. (For "Dave" Young's 'Candyland', David Platt's bestie who liked 'coming of age movies' and had that in his personal description.)
@@michellepeterson6320 Yes. Sounds like Part 3 needs to be research into "David, Dave"s origins and background of their connections... In a very questionable political time...
My wife and I watched both videos and it was good and needed my one bit of advice is try and make a summary video that is about 15 min long. It's an enormous undertaking to watch and retain hours of content. What is being said is very important and I wish someone with editing skills could summarize this and make it easy to digest.
She was caught in a fast-moving, bad situation not of her making. In hindsight, she should have refused to detain them, but at least she apologized to them. She was clearly embarrassed.
This documentary seems to basically demonstrate an ongoing financial conspiracy involving David Platt and the elders of MCB, also possibly involving leaders within the IMB, SBC, and more. But this documentary really raises an even bigger question for me: Does this scandal implicate the SBC & IMB in a corrupt financial conspiracy? Is the seeming financial conspiracy bigger and farther-reaching than only David Platt and the elders of MCB? I would love to see further research and documentation investigating the SBC and IMB and any potential involvement in financial corruption. I say this as a member of a church that gives money to the IMB.
I’m not going to accuse David Platt of not being a believer because I have seen some fruits over the years. However, his deceitful tactics disqualify him from ever being a pastor anywhere.
David simply didn't think of doing this on his own. It sounds like to me that he had some sort of support by a group within the SBC to engage in this maneuver.
Find it hard to consider he's is regenerate considering how this congregation has been treated and in light of all revealed. God will judge and may he purge the wicked from the flock.
First off, vengeance belongs to the lord. Second, my main contention is this: David Platt is currently not a saved member of God’s elect. You rightly recognise some fruits of his work. However, it is hard to see that Joseph’s brothers could be called godly men despite the fact that Joseph says that whilst they intended their acts for evil, God intended it for good. These were NOT godly men yet God was able to use their actions for His higher purpose. It would be wrong for Joseph’s brothers to claim that their actions weren’t inherently wrong simply because God so evidently turned them into ‘good fruits’. I’ll conclude with this: whilst David Platt intended his actions for evil, God will intend them for good.

Just as He did with Israel, when a church fails to be accountable to Him and its people, God turns that church inside out, making it the ridicule of the world.
