I ALWAYS make time for a David episode - and this was a bonus with Andre. He continually impresses me with his ingenuity and humbleness. His observation on the small windows of time of now or never was brilliant. Much respect to both you and Andre. Can't wait for the next episode.🤩

It amazes me that you can get away with leaving things rusty to enjoy the look. In the northeast, if you don't take care of the rust today, then tomorrow you won't have a truck 😂

I think David looks like the perfect spokesman for GM pickups, he looks like a scruffy hard worker like the guys you saw in GM's 90's commercials, he has a ranch with great scenery, like 90's GM commercials, and he uses his trucks for proper work, again like 90's GM commercials hahaha!!!!!

I put the same Michelin tires on my 2022 GMC. It had 22 inch Continentals and I went to 18 inch wheels. I gained 2.5 mpg and a much better ride. I sold tires for 30 years of all brands and Michelins always had the best quality, ride and mpg of any tire brand.

I work for Michelin and my coworker actually industrialized the particular size of tire used in this video. There is a large team of people that works on making these new tire generations happen and we all take pride in making something that lasts. It makes me happy to see other people taking pride in our products. Adam, if you're reading this, great job!

This is going to be an awesome build.. Dave has that innovative spirit and tremendous know how, yet remains humble without that macho truck guy attitude. The big Block 454 supercharged would really put out some power Watch out Matt's Off-Road Recovery!

How about "Orange Peel" for a name, since the paint is old and peeling adding to its patina and also with the 454 I'm sure its not going to have any issues "peeling" out 😁

I agree on the Michelins! Unless you have some built Jeep type rig for off road, Michelins are excellent for most conditions and snow. They have gone an easy 50 + K for me.

They look like street tires, don't seem like they would be too good offroad - need genuine AT tires like BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A or Goodyear WRANGLER DURATRAC

I wish I knew my mechanic friend in 2017 when my Dad’s 1995 Tacoma Xcab 4x4 V-6 manual w/manual locks and windows died. He lost compression on one cylinder. My Dad said there were many systems going, but it would be an awesome Overlanding/Off-road truck.

I'm a fan of those Michelin's too. Great all-around tire for a 4x4 pickup or SUV, and nothing beats the treadwear on those LTX MS2s. My Frontier had a set last 93K miles with more treadlife to go when I picked up road debris that damaged the sidewall on one tire beyond repair. I would love to see you guys do a collab with Trail Mater or Fab Rats, and may I suggest "the Old Pro" as a name for the project truck? It says a lot about where the truck chassis came from, and David is the consummate pro.

YES YES YES!!!! OMG I would LOVE a collab with @fabrats. Paul is a world class fabricator and off road rigs are his specialty. I would love to see his FJ run the course at the ranch. I think @trailmater should come join the fun too.

The Michelin Defender LTX MS2 are an amazing tire. Used them and the originals versions. I’ve run a lot of tires but none better in a general everyday tire. They are the best in ice, slushy snow and snow up to about 6”. The compound is ridiculous. If you rotate every 3000-4000 balance and then check your pressure and alignment by feel and sight… you’ll get 120,000 miles.

If your familiar with JH diesel 4x4 RU-vidr he has a camper special also with the 73-79 ish front end and I believe in same color that he just put the cab on an early to mid 2000s dodge Cummins frame and thats also my favorite body style GM truck of all

I'm a huge Michelin fan myself, my grandpa infamously put 120k mi on a set of tires and when he got rid of them they still had some tread left, definitely not bald by any means. Those tires were made in the late 90's. However I'm not so sure that new Michelins are as long lasting as the older ones. My uncle only got about 20k mi on a more recent set. Mind you he does a lot of in town driving, but he always keeps them properly inflated and is religious about rotating them. I was pretty disappointed by how quick they wore out, especially considering how expensive they were. Hopefully they've fixed that with their newer compounds and designs.

Every old off roader knows you need a three ply side wall ,you can fix holes in the tread ,but a cut sidewall will leave you stranded .

I'm with you on the Michelins. My dad and I run Michelins on everything we've got from BMWs to Dodge minivans. The only deviation from this is on my truck and off-road rigs where I run BFG All-terain KO2s. BFG was bought by Michelin some time ago so I'm sure there is some common engineering between them.

David's Gnarley work truck the name and you should definitely collaborate with another awesome builder whereas you go there. IMHO colab with Andre just is not you or the work truck. You are however building the truck in my dreams. Maybe consider starting your own channel. It's worked quite well for a girl/woman named Sarah!

Michelin tires are good but my experience has been the belts break long before the tread wears out. I've owned about 5 different sets & belts broke on every single one. And they did it at around 60,000 miles.

I agree and when I bought my Jeep wrangler 7 years ago it had these tires on it and they looked great on the outside but the inside of the tires looked like cracked glass they had so many cracks in them I couldn't believe it they lasted as long as they did after a couple of trips up north 2 hrs away from home. I got the bfg all terrains and never been happier

@@garysarratt1 slow down??? I drive the speed limit & they were on a car so they're not overloaded. Plus no other tire does that & I don't change my driving habits based on tires. Michelin just doesn't work for me.
