He may be best known as Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, but this summer David Suchet is playing a different role, Lady Bracknell in classic comedy The Importance Of Being Earnest. Take a look at how he transforms for the show.
Have watched Suchet's Poirot online so many times. And always shed some tears when I watch the final episode. But I would love to see him on stage someday portraying different characters.
David, you sir are a true patriot and a unequivocally, unequalled national treasure and British icon. Poirot is my favourite Frenc... Oh, I mean Belgian detective of all time and watching someone else in the role just won’t do.
Phantastic! And as for Poirot: there have been other actors, who played Poirot, but for me there is only one who IS Poirot, you my dear Sir! You have brought the author‘s fictional character to life to a point where one wonders how she could have developed her character without having seen you portrait Poirot over 25 years! I especially love the last scene in „Murder in the Orient Ecpress“. I am 72 years old and I get misty eyes when I see how torn Poirot is walking away from the Officials and the 12 other characters. None of the other versions have that personal depth and drama at the end. Kudos!
Ich meine, wir Erwachsenen sollten david s aus seiner alten rolle rauslassen! Er ist nicht mehr poirot, sondern spielt andere rollen mit schauspielerischer Disziplin! Lassen wir ihn doch seine Freiheit!
But in Malaysia he'd be considered haram jadah for playing women on stage by Islamists in #pasmalaysia .... and I was ONE of the people who grew up with Jangan Ketawa and Ondeh Ondeh! Plus word on the street is that they'd be frowning down on this sort of act by Suchet in Communist China.
Mr David Suchet, giving thanks to GOD for HIS beautiful creation of you! A fine gentleman n a talented actor also. Particularly in enjoyment of your portrayal of the Belguim detective Mr Hercule Poirot! 🙌👍🙌
David Suchet is amazing in any role he plays! He is absolutely incredible! As for his Poirot character, as a big Agatha Christie fan, I believe he portrayed the wonderful Poirot simply flawless. I am kind of sorry for every other actor that might have done a good job at Poirot...it still is miles away from stunning David...! Let us hope that David Suchet lives long enough to bring the audiences further amazing performance and characters. 🥰
Je to jeden z najuzasnejsich hercov akych poznam!!!! Fenomenalne stvarnil poirota, kazdu cast som videla, je to uzasny herec, vsetka cest! Krasny pozdrav zo slovenska
I thought it would be very exciting to watch a slow transformation from a man into a woman. But it surprised me, that it just needed a little make up, and your face transformed into a female one. It has been a long time since I learnt English at school, more than 50 years now. I hope, I succeeded inspite of that to express what I wished to tell you. There is something else I would like you to know: I actually adore and love your Hercule Poirot! I watch the series at least once a year - fortunately I forget more and more the older I get. So the series remains exciting for me.🥰
The role of Lady Bracknell being played by a man has become common, almost traditional. I know that Quentin Crisp played the role in the 1990s(?), but before him, did any other man play the role?
I am performing as Lady Bracknell in March (2016) and I have to do my own hair and make-up, I unfortunately cannot purchase a wig, so does anyone have any tips? I would be very grateful if someone could give me some pointers :)
Some woman really are horrid to look at in old age, I have dumped many girls in my youth after meeting their mothers as it gave me a glimpse into the future
