David " ten inch" ...as Billy Piper ( actress ) once called him 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡 Hes adorable.... I'm still watching his doctor who episodes now uk tv He was the craziest and best doctor ...I beleive Most entertaining too
David Tennant is amazing in this. Best TV I've watched in years. Why don't itv commission more shows like this with decent top class actors instead of reality and celebrity shite that no one is interested in.
Tbh they have a good series if dramas on this type of subject. For example Appropriate Adult about Fred and Rose West and See No Evil about Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.
I just watched David Tennant in Good Omens a couple of weeks ago. Then to see him portray a serial killer shows you what a fantastically versatile actor he is. One of the better actors out there imo.
....and he was amazing in an episode of " room 101 " with Frank skinner He showed of his linguistic skills Speaking many different accents perfectly.... That's one of his strongest skills....accents ❤❤❤😁
@@jackiehoughton9727 I looked for you...and found two short clips of him... There is a part that is not included In the programme just after this, Frank joins in the discussion and they both stand on stage Reciting a bit of work they both did on radio together years ago.... Only this time with Tennant and Skinner emphasising the accents. I think it was yorkshire accent So funny Hope you enjoy it
@@jackiehoughton9727 Yes, alot missing they cut it too short ... Maybe you can catch it on dave or davejavu channel ( uk channel ) They often show repeats of everything in Room 101
To be honest David Tennant is a legendary actor. But he can’t be discovered to his full potential because he is criminally underrated actor but his career is starting to look up now which I’m happy about.
He’s so so convincing that by the end I couldn’t bear to see him on my screen. I had to watch some wholesome David Tennant clips afterwards to wash my mind.
Lawyer -“I have to ask why?” Des- “I was hoping you could tell me that” That’s an absolutely horrifying answer imagine actually being in the presence of this guy
I feel like that happened with other serial killers, they didnt know WHY. They actually had a unsub on Criminal Minds, wanting them to tell him WHY. Many donit as a form.of compulsion. They CAN'T stop....
America doesn't get enough David Tennant. I'll hope we see this, the show sounds very good. The story about the fellow running from the flat has a direct parallel to something in the Jeffrey Dahmer story, where two policeman literally returned a teenage victim to him when Dahmer told them they'd been getting high and had a spat. John Wayne Gacy also had a victim early on who survived after a bathhouse encounter -- the police did not want to know. Homophobia hurts.
As a victim not of an horrific crime like this but a victim of several kinds of long term abuse I can tell you, JUSTICE, and that insipid overused word, closure, is NEVER served. I don't believe in the death penalty but the corrections system be it jail or a psychiatric institution for the criminally insane- then we get into that murky area- WHAT IS SANITY? In one of the programs about Des a PhD deems him sane...Namaste, may you and yours never be abused, harmed, if you suspect abuse, call the authorities and inspite of covid, have a good holiday season Namaste, Z
@@MSYNGWIE12 This is an excellent comment. In cases where there is so much misery and harm to people "justice" really only means that the justice system has found a person guilty and incarcerated them. It does not mean that there has been any balancing of the scales as regards the harm done to others and society. It is GOOD when a guilty person is jailed. But the victims, all the people harmed, and never "re-set" back to the way they were. And when "justice" is sought in civil cases, the only thing the victims are able to ask the courts for is money. Then they get accused of being cynical gold diggers. So they are victimized again. But that is all that civil courts can do. Sexually and physically abused children would of course WANT to be "re-set" to not having been beaten, burnt, punched and raped. But criminal courts can jail people, civil courts can fine them (though they usually never pay up...Andy Windsor had to because of the publicity). Justice rarely feel like justice to victims of serious crimes.
David Wilson talks nonsense. I’ve read and seen interviews by him before,he’s a charlatan who talks rubbish in hindsight. He’s now a criminologist and makes a fortune out of guessing. He’s like one of those fake mediums
@@MrAlexsegal Being a psychopath does not mean a person is insane/unaware of right or wrong/unaware of what he is doing/delusional/out of touch with reality. A psychopath is someone who has zero empathy for other people. Knows and understands that other people have feelings, but does not care to such a degree that he or she regards others as totally without consequence. They lie constantly - because, why not? It doesn't matter. They cheat and steal for the same reasons. Other people don't matter, so no "rules " of good behaviour or society matter at all. They feel no guilt ever. They are very very often also narcissists. But not always. It is often said that the heads of many major businesses are psychopaths. And certain types of politicians. Donald Trump clearly is. Boris Johnson also. Sometimes people will say "psychopaths don't believe other people have inner lives". And that isn't right. They know people do, but they don't care at all. So doing anything, any horrible thing at all, to anybody at all, they see as just fine. They themselves have feelings about their own lives, and can experience loneliness and want love. They often feel anger and rage. They can also be very good at emulating emotions they see non psychopaths having. But they never feel real empathy or love. The narcissists can greatly dislike it when their crimes are revealed, when those crimes go against the fake version of themselves that they have created in their minds, or in other people's. And so some psychopaths who murder will quickly confess their crimes in order to avoid long drawn out court cases where all the details of what they've been doing will be disclosed. Chris Watts and Jeffrey Dahmer are those types. And Ed Kemper. Being "nice guys" was part of the fiction that they created, and very much wanted people to see them as. Others will deny all crimes, like Bundy (until he was trying to keep alive). Charlie Manson always avoided taking any responsibility - it wasn't the image he wanted for himself. There are others who just don't care, and revel in being seen as dangerous "outlaws". For some (again, killer psychopaths) the notoriety is essential. These will typical write to police or news organisations. These people are not insane. Society is FULL of psychopaths and sociopaths (same thing, different theory of origin). They're out there walking around, with jobs, with families. Not all of them are murderers. They will overwhelmingly be liars, often charming in a superficial way. But not great to have to live with long term. The kind of husband or wife who will suddenly and brutally dump their spouse of 20 years without feeling a thing. Who'll act like a caring parent, but will walk out and never pay a cent of child support or should any interest in their children. Or, like Lori Vallow, just kill her husband and children because she's taken out life insurance on them. (Lori Vallow is not insane either. Any "mental health" problems she is having are due to total disbelief and rage that she is not getting what she wanted, that everything isn't going her way. Which is great to know, because it means she is actually having a very bad time.)
I remember exactly where I was when this story broke. When I saw David Tennant made up as Des, my jaw dropped, he's spookily like him. I don't have access to ITV but I just have to watch this!
I'd literally just finished watching Nilsen's "Born to Kill" episode when I came across the trailer...eerie is too tame for just how accurate this adaptation is!
I've just watched this drama, and apart from the obvious shock and chilling reality of these crimes David Tennant's portrayal of Nilsson's character was incredible, it brought home how Nilson (in my mind) didn't think that he was an evil killer but more of a person who was suffering with an illness that was beyond his control. Therefore believing that he wasn't a killer but his illness made him one. ( Actually relieved that he got caught because he knew himself that he COULDN'T stop.) Great piece of acting from David Tennant.
The blush when he said Nilsen touched him. Young, boyish looks, yes he probably did fancy him. Also one of the important fakes that he missed was Nilsens victim type, homeless, little to no family, that’s another critical reason as to why he got away with it for so long.
Notice how david still looks like Nilsen ..... in the interviews in this video I mean It's the black hair ....it needs going back to natural brown lol Last I saw it was long shoulder length and hes hiding under a baseball cap He says hes avoiding attention whilst this is being shown In respect to the victims familys. Amazing guy 🧡🧡🧡
I haven't seen the David Tennant movie yet; my partner did and said it was excellent; I remember the Nielsen case when it first broke as a story - I was working for BBC News at the time; I and my civil partner are gay and I must admit that some of the News staff did look at me somewhat differently after the case became known publicly; I used to use the pub in Earl's Court in London that Nielsen used where Nielsen tried to find casual gay male pick-ups - I don't remember seeing him in the pub at all; I did consider writing to Nielsen whilst he was a life prisoner - my partner didn't like the idea of this so I didn't write to Nielsen; I did however write a poem about the man - 'A 16 Syllable Sonnet for Dennis Nielsen and Others' - it has been published in a book - and I wanted to send the book to Nielsen but my partner vetoed that too; I am not an admirer of Nielsen at all and would never have actually visited him in prison; writing a few letters to Nielsen would have been different. Necrophilia is very rare - it is a sexual perversion that totally shocks people; as with Dahmer the dead bodies represent total passivity and a corpse can be totally controlled; strangulation is a sadist's preference in the method of killing - control again you see. Dennis Nielsen was a profoundly sick man.
Fuck me David's doric is near spot on. My papa (grandfather) actually served with Dennis Nielson and I still live round the corner from where he lived in fraserburgh.
Brilliant drama, very accurate lead roles even down to the speech impediment of the author. It's one of those hard to watch but a must to see. Also watch the documentary.
dennis nilsen’s case has me stunned and left with so many questions. why did he give up the information so easily then suddenly stop cooperating with the police? why did he seem to change personalities? why did he have a deep care for his dog, but completely disregard human life? why did he do what he did? what a complex man…
I showed my mom a photo of David Tennant as this guy and my mom thought it was really the s.k and when she saw his real photo she was surprised how much he looked like him
I remember being in the Salisbury Arms? in St. Martin's Lane one Saturday or Sunday afternoon. It wasn't a pub I would usually go to but some friends and I had arranged to meet there before going somewhere else. Before they arrived this guy was staring at me from across the room for some time. After about twenty minutes my friends turned up. We had a drink and left soon after. A few months later Nielsen was arrested. When I saw his face on the news I recognised him immediately. I'm pretty certain he was building up to approach me even though I didn't give him any signals other than to glance over a few times as you do when you feel someone's looking at you. Considering I was in my early twenties the most shocking thing about it was you would never guess in a million years his intent or the type of person he was. Just seemed like an ordinary guy. Thank goodness I didn't fancy him. lol
Always Freaks me out seeing David as a baddie !!! Seen so many things hes done, even at the theatre and obviously Doctor Who. Hes totaly brilliant as an actor. But scarey David just gives me the heebiee geebies. 😖. I did watch a great show with David and Martin Sheen called Staged. That was hillarious ! Not seen this denis show yet.. thats for later. 🙂
My problem with this sort of programming is that it turns the criminal into a world-famous celebrity. Myra Hindley has her own entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, along with the great and the good of British history. Who remembers the names of her victims?
The acting was brilliant, however, I found other aspects of the production disturbing, the fact that the guy who actually stopped Nilsen in his tracks from killing more and lead to him being brought him to justice (the drain cleaner) was dismissed as some irrelevant working-class oik on the make...he could have well dismissed the bones as an animal , shut the drains up and rushed onto the next job. The other uneasy thing was the very blokey title of ' Des' which puts Nilsen down in the charts of the most hated men in the UK where Rolf Harris and Jimmy Savile reside in the top 2.
I'm curious if Professor David Wilson or any of those who professionally deal with serial killers require phsycological/psychiatric/counciling for theirselves ?
For sure. Therapists that deal with people who aren't serial killers regularly require councilling for themselves. So ones that deal with these types of people are prime targets for it.
