OUAT S5E21: Last Rites
So it has come to my attention that we have reached a milestone of 10k subs in our humble channel! It took us awhile, but we're here.
How bout just some short history as to how this channel was first started and how it became what it was today.
cue cliche moments
I created this RU-vid (YT) account almost 10 years ago (since 2006. Wow!) out of randomness. I was in the school’s symphonic band at that point of time and yes, you guessed it, I played the Tuba. If I could recall correctly, my initial usernames were along the lines of ‘tuba_freaks’, ‘TubaGuy’. Only after a YT update (something to do with Google taking over) that allowed us to change our usernames, I’ve decided to keep a part of it and settled with ‘That Tuba Guy’. Of course throughout the years, as I started uploading more OUAT videos, I felt the need to change to a more suitable name but I thought that I like the randomness of it and felt that it sticks better in people's minds. So that's when the notion of randomness in my channel kinda started. I like to have a system when uploading but I also do not want to be tied down with a strict adherence to an order cuz I’m a rebel like that (hah). So I can safely assure you that most of my uploads were done randomly.
Its only around 3 years ago (2013) that I started to post OUAT snippets (from Season 2) because that was when I started obsessing with the show. Some scenes were just insanely good that I can’t help to rewatch it again and again. I tried to look them up on YT to see if there are any OUAT channels posting those said scenes but realised most of them were just fan edits/tributes. It could be because OUAT is still fairly new at that point of time. That was when I decided to post the scenes that I love on this channel, initially for my own consumption, but soon realised that I should start sharing them with more Oncers.
Of course throughout the years there are more and more similar channels like mine but there was never a time when I felt intimidated by them. Instead, I was (and still is) pleasantly elated that OUAT is gaining more fans and I’m just happy to be a part of it.
I’ve also gotten a lot of questions as to why I do not post all the scenes from an episode from time to time again and truthfully; I don’t really have a good reason for that. To put it simply, I’ll feel guilty if I did that. I do have a good chance of having a copyright strike (which I have received once in 2013 for having a 4:56 mins video. Hah, amateur mistake) and as of now, my videos do get flagged as having ‘copyrighted content’ but my main aim of posting these snippets is always to entice more viewers to know what’s going on in the ep and catch up on the rest of it either in their tellies or streaming services. Of course for those regions who have no access to these eps, I thought hard of striking a compromise. Thus, there’s a reason why I uploaded at most 6 snippets per ep (~ 3 mins each) which is roughly arnd half an ep so most of us Oncers would at least be in the loop of what’s currently going on in this series. Yes, my channel might be taken down entirely maybe in the future but as of now, YT still placed it under ‘Good Standing’ :)
Dang, there’s just too much that I’ve spilled so I think I should just stop now. Thank you for all you kind subscribers to even bother to checkout this channel and I'm happy we’re here together as one big #Once family.
