It will take a couple of days for the concrete to cure, and then they can start removing the falseworks.

Let me say, that Jack fella, boy does he know his stuff. Imagine if everyone in life cared so much to know so much about their work. I don’t find that very often these days.
@EdgyNumber1

Believe me, there are many, many engineers and technicians who are very proud of their work, whether its aerospace, automotive, infrastructure or construction - and many more sectors besides. Its just a shame they are not noticed or revered in this country as they are in Japan and Germany.
@911HRW
@911HRW Год назад
@@EdgyNumber1 No doubt sir, no doubt, and you’re quite correct. Sadly all I come across is people who just don’t care, don’t know their job, take the money and do very little.

@@911HRW I understand this too. It really does surprise me how many people don't care about the standard of their work. Typically I find there are one or two who are really committed, while the rest are happy to watch them getting stuck in because it means they can get away with doing less... it's such a shame. However on this project it's obvious all are striving for excellence and it's great to see!

I've just finished watching the concrete pour. I almost wanted to tell the blokes to slow down a bit. Seriously hard work going on. Well done. Looks amazing.

Thanks, Jack and the BAM team a great show of organized teamwork carried out to a high standard, I love watching all the works from my laptop in a warm flat after retiring from the building trade, 😋 Well done Dawlish Beach Cams for recording the day's events.👍👍👍

So much that we can't see from the cam. Thanks Jack and Neil great video and great explanation. The orange army are an impressive workforce. Wow! the lift shaft base is deep. Neil, I think your comment while Jack is making his explanation, "WOW" is so appropriate.

Amazin'! 😀 You get double thumbs from me for these, as I always watch 'em on the telly first. I can really feel how proud Jack is (and rightly so) of what he and his team have achieved here. Well done to everyone.

Another great couple of updates this week. The progress is amazing. Jack and the team are doing a fantastic job. Just one quibble though... What are we going to watch when all the work is done?

Very interesting, Big project Couldn't help noticing Jack Brookes spent most of the time with his hands in his pockets ! My old boss always said a man with his hands in his pockets never got much work done . But then when you are the boss no one can tell you off. Great progress will be great when finished.

Nice job but with sea levels predated to rise rapidly in the next century will it last the distance as that coast is constantly under the hammer from rising storm tides plus Concrete & seawater don't like each other & putting fancy covered gravel near a seawall roadway is asking for trouble should have made a small grass bank for the water to run off?

Are we getting a new bridge?
@cargy930
@cargy930 Год назад
If you're talking about the rail bridge, then no. It's not part of the project. One would hope Network Rail give it a spruce-up and a lick of fresh paint to match the new stuff though!
@robertvanrees
@robertvanrees Год назад
@@cargy930 would be nice if they give it a re-paint... It can use it.
@cargy930
@cargy930 Год назад
@@robertvanrees It certainly could! In fairness though it's a bit like painting a ship: Rust staining will always re-appear very quickly around the rivets and metal interfaces, simply because of the salt water environment. This means it'll always start to look grotty within a few months, no matter how sound and solid the underlying ironwork is.
@mikebeaumont137
@mikebeaumont137 Год назад
@@cargy930 what a great pity after all that lovely work they’ve done and left a sloppy job.
@cargy930
@cargy930 Год назад
@@mikebeaumont137 I don't disagree, but you can't hold that against Bam Nuttall. I'm sure it's just as annoying to them given that it's effectively the "gateway" to their amazing work. But they simply aren't contracted to paint the bridge so it's not within their remit. Imagine arranging for a furniture supplier to provide you with a new living room suite. You can't hold the sofa supplier responsible if you keep the same tatty carpet and wallpaper! 😁

Would be interesting to know the grade of the concrete used and the slump as delivered also is the concrete self-compacting as the poker was I though a little on the small size for the depth of material

It's a concrete monstrosity that has all but destroyed the quaint, Vctorian character of the Dawlish seafront. Unlike Victorian desgins there is no artistic input. Dawlish deserved better.

The weight of those 70 ton machines is what allows them to lift such heavy loads. Speed isn’t exactly a priority
