Join me on a breezy March day for a walk along the sea wall from Dawlish to Dawlish Warren in Devon.
Along the way I will tell you who designed the railway line and sea wall and a little bit of information about them.
I will also show you the recreation complex at Dawlish Warren and then visit the top rated trip advisor tea room in the town of Dawlish for a delicious lunch, followed by a walk in a park and another treat from a popular retailer in the town.
This video is far too short to include all the really interesting details about Brunel's railway and sea wall, so I suggest you watch the following videos by other creators if you want to learn more about the atmospheric railway and sea wall repair.
Atmoshpheric Railway info - • Isambard Kingdom Brune...
Sea Wall repair since the 2014 storm damage - • The Great Storm of Daw...

Loved this walk Louise. So enjoyable. I think this area needs to be on my visit list. Just spectacular. Such interesting history about the railway and sea wall. Beach and cave stunning. The tea room was lovely! Loose leaf tea, wow! You never really see black swans! What a treat! Thank you Louise.

Thank you Amanda! Oh definitely add it to your visit list!! It was a real treat to have that loose leaf tea. So quaint and served by very friendly staff. I can see why it has such a high rating on Trip Advisor.

Oh I would love to take a trip down here - only ever seen it on the TV - but this is an iconic railway route. Glad you didn’t get washed away but what a walk - I would’ve done the same ! Love being by the coast in the rain!

Hi Louise! I enjoyed seeing the sea wall with all the waves as well as that beautiful area with all the shops and birds huddling on the grass. So cool getting to see the black swans relaxing.

Thank you Donna! It’s such a lovely area and really nice to have the green space and town so close to the sea. So many good things in one place. Yes, that was so nice seeing the black swans relaxing on the grass.

Hello Louise. Well done and thank you. That first part of the walk was a bit too near the big waves but I am glad the sea moved further away and lower as you continued. Glad you had a fresh, windy seaside walk. I love the way you squeeze in a train journey and a long seaside walk before work! Never mind the dusting and housework - that can wait. The cheese scone plus extra cheese was well deserved and you made me laugh with your ice cream hair!

Thanks Cathy! Yes, looking at this footage it looks quite close to the waves but it was quite zoomed in so not as bad as it looks. Lol, yes, it’s brilliant to be able to fit a walk on around work. Weather and full time plus hours present a weekly challenge at the moment! I am doing it the other way around today as it’s the only forecast sunny day if the week and my only opportunity to film so I am filming locally to me on my way home from work. Lol, the ice cream hair!! So funny! Glad I put that out take in 😂

What a wonderful windswept walk, you certainly made the most of your time before work. The cheese scone looked amazing. As I have long hair, I can totally sympathise with change in wind direction, hair in ice cream & mouth scenario.

Thanks so much Faith! Haha! That ice cream hair in the mouth taught me a lesson to always carry a spare bobble! Let’s hope that I remember next time!😂 It was so nice to start the day like that! Made me feel really invigorated for my shift!

I used to go on holiday to Dawlish Warren every year so this walk is very familiar - glad to see the Elephant Rock Cafe is still there. Pretty sure we've had the fudge and ice cream from Gay's Creamery too. It's such a shame they got rid of all the little shop huts in Dawlish Warren, replacing them with the smaller hexagonal one - not as much to explore. Those waves get pretty large - we've ducked off to the road path on many occasions! Loved seeing the Dawlish green again - haven't been in the area for years. Thank you.

Thank you Jesse! Pleased that it brought back nice memories for you. It’s my favourite walk to do when I need fresh air since I discovered it s few years ago. I am so lucky to have quick and easy access by public transport. I have driven it before but the train is so convenient and such a lovely scenic journey. The Gays Creamery ice cream is soooo good! I must try their fudge one day!

They should reopen the short line down the Teign Valley in order to ensure continued westbound rail access to Torbay, Plymouth and Cornwall in the event of another closure

Can I ask how long the walk is along the seafront? The good thing about eating ice cream in the winter is that it won't melt! Especially a big one like you had and it probably lasted longer.
@SouthWestSundays
@SouthWestSundays Год назад
Lol, that’s true about it not melting and lasting longer! I ended up bolting it down on the way to the station as the heavens opened not long after I finished filming and it was all getting rather messy and I was beginning to feel cold 🥶 The walk is about 2 miles each way.
