A very early start and a walk around Brixham and Fishcombe Cove. Enjoy! AQUAHOLIC shirts and more: teespring.com/en-GB/stores/aq... / aquaholicnick / burnhamnick / aquaholicnick / aquaholicnick
Thanks again Nick for your glorious scenic morning walks, snowdrops, bluebells etc and wonderful birdsong . And your positive light hearted manner is not wasted on us .BRILLIANT. How you managed not to swear when you stumbled is beyond me .
I am amazed at how entertained I was watching this. High up on the list of good things has to be walking in the woods while being serenaded by song birds. Good stuff for sure!
Thank you for another great trip down memory lane. Someone asked how long the Golden Hind has been there, well I remember it back in 1965 , so at least that long.
Lovely to see Churston cove in such detail. I spent many happy hours floating around there in my octopus dingy when around 7 years old. So poignant to see that and some other spots that have a deep personal tie to my late father. I can't tell you how happy it was so revisit via your work. Happy/sad tears did flow I don't mind telling you.
Every video is just so informative Nick,it’s a win win situation, you get some training, and me and thousands of your followers get a lovely tour with you :) :) :)
Thanks Nick for another fabulous walking video. It's become quite a family affair watching them cast to our TV. We love Brixham and the kids loved spotting the various places we know. It's so nice seeing it in a different light to the busy place it usually is!
I'm really enjoying these, it's like a jaunt with an old friend, thanks Nick. I can watch paint dry, listening to your voice, and still be entertained.
What a healthy nice way to start the day. It’s nice to know that on your walk you have loads of friends with you , but your still have peace and quite.
Yer!! you did one of your lovely walks in Brixham. I love churston cove, it's especially beautiful when the tide is high, there's oftain a resident seal. Churston Grove (woods) had many trees felled which is such a shame but there has been a replanting project. Thanks for filming this. Absolutely loved it😀
Great video. I have enjoyed these walks of yours and seeing the sites. It isn't as scenic in my part of the world and this is a great way to escape the confines of my house. Thank you and can't wait for more!
Brixham: a fine community for climbers! Great for active holiday makers and lovers of shingle beaches. Thank you for a fine production and a welcome virtual travel experience!
Hi Nick. Your video 'walks' are stunning. Your commentry when needed and silence to take in the ambiance and beauty of the scenery. In the sheltered bay, mirror calm sea, bursting sunrise is typical for overseas not the UK, you are so lucky, thankyou for taking us with you. AWESOME
Brixham looks lovely: very reminiscent of Whitby (or a larger 'Robin Hoods Bay') on the North Yorshire coast, though there seems to be very little of Brixham's trawler fishing heritage still in evidence. A couple of years ago, I did a little bit of genealogy and discovered that my great, great grandfather and his family, on my maternal grandmother's side, (her father's father) were a fishing family in Brixham. In the mid 1800s, The Brixham trawlers had been tempted to fish further from home to take advantage of the 'silver pits' of the North Sea, (where legend said that the cod were so abundant, that you could walk from trawler to trawler on the backs of the fish,) and would return home to Brixham after every trip to land and sell their catch. That was until the 'great storm' of 1866, when the trawlers couldn't get back into harbour under sail so had to attempt to row in, and the beacon on the breakwater had been swept away, so as darkness fell, the fishermen's wives and families dragged furniture and bedding from their homes, down onto the breakwater and burned it to provide a bonfire as navigation reference for their husbands and fathers. Many were killed that night and a lot of ships were lost, and as a result, my great, great grandather, (one Edwin Hayman, born 1831 in Torquay,) and many of his Brixham fleet colleagues, decided to transfer their entire families to Hull on the Humber estuary, near to the East Yorkshire coast, where the fishing trade was still in its infancy but growing steadily, (Hull had previously been a whaling port,) knowing that fishing for their catch in the North sea, and landing it and selling it in Hull, would be quicker, cheaper and a lot less dangerous than making the long trek all the way from Brixham to the North Sea and then back to Devon. Many of Edwin's descendents still live in Hull today, (including me 😊) but in his later years, Edwin himself, accompanied by the family of one of his married daughters, eventually returned to Brixham where he died aged 89, in Brixham, only a few miles from where he was born.
Thank you very much for that Nick. Has certainly uplifted my spirits. You live in a very beautiful place, lovely whilst the tourists aren’t there although you badly need them back to survive. Ah well it’s lively to see so Thankyou.
Now that's a sunrise. So beautiful there. I see your still rocking the dwarf and looking handsome as ever. Such a amazing place to live. Never boring. Stay safe. Love from Canada. Ps great tunes
Lovely video. Felt like I accompanying you on the walk Nick. Love hearing about fave places to eat and where you used to work. I have enjoyed many great trips down to your necks of the woods. Have a great day.
Bunny alert at 17:16, you can see it start to run up the stairs. 21:30 dazed and forgets it's supposed to run. Did somebody say Churston woods? Beautiful Bluebells. You were excellent at the boat reviews, Now you're absolutely amazing at these walking videos. I've given up the television in favour of youtube channels that have way higher value content. Thank you..again..again!
There was huge excitement during this walk, as it featured my friends boat in the dry harbour near the Golden Hind. He lives in Bristol, so its the first time he's seen it since lockdown. Nice one Nick xxx
Thanks very much for that Nick. Stranded in middle England and longing for the sea. Keep the killer rabbits and Michael Gove though. Forgot how fantastic Devon is.
We love tbe Brixham firework display for the Christmas Lights turn on & Festival of Light. Just happens to coincide with our "normal" November visit. Roast pork and apple sauce rolls while wrapped up watching tbe fireworks. Cracking!
Love your walks, watched them so many times…..the hills do wear me out but I’m happy to let you be out of breath. The only thing is WHEN do we get some new ones, after all we have to keep you fit.
What a fantastic journey, another very well crafted masterpiece of early morning scenic outdoor enjoyment. You can see the love and care put into the shots, the interesting commentary and trivia really brings a place to life. The choreographed trip, love it! Going to pick you up on the retired look though, you only fall into a stereotype by choice, I challenge your next walk in a brightly coloured loud Hawaiian shirt, white shorts and trainers. These walks are spectacular, and I really hope you continue them after normality resumes, different coastal locales at home and abroad. I know they havent arrived the viewing figures yet, but they will, people just need to discover them. The music choice at the end, truly delightful, perfectly fitting and closed the trip superbly. Thank you so much. 😉😊⚘
Wow, I think this is your best walking video yet. I love Brixham. Best moment has to be the family-friendly expletives when you slipped 😂. Hope you didn’t hurt yourself buddy. Looking forward to the next one.
Bravo! Each walk has been better than the one before. If you ever contemplated a course correction in your life’s journey, the quality of these walks suggest you are a natural cinematic creator. For those of us who are still in our personal bunkers, going stir crazy, these walks transport us from our all too familiar surroundings, and submerses us in the sights and sounds of nature in the natural surroundings of the places you call home. Thanks for your journeys to the quaint places we all yearn to visit but can do so vicariously. I LMAO when you quipped the hills there are all up hill no matter which way you go.
I meant to do this yesterday, but our internet went out. when I was a young lad, I'm guessing the late 70s, my family stayed in a holiday camp near Brixham, I don't recall much apart from the Golden Hind and that you had to walk down a bit of a lane to a little cove, and then through a stone archway, and over the cliffs to get to the town. So I have kind of been waiting with anticipation as your walks have taken you gradually in the Brixham direction. This week much to my delight there it is, stone archway and all. Very cool, Thanks for that!
'Crikey, bother, oh dear'. Somehow I don't think that's what was really said. You live in a wonderful piece of the world, enjoying your walks as much as the yacht tours.
There you are, walking about enjoying a gorgeous sunrise and stroll, while the rest of us are dreaming of setting on decks of the great ship we bought because we saw it on your channel.Thank you for doing both, and showing us all that you can.
Thanks! That is a really beautiful bit of armchair travel, Nick. Like some of your other subscribers I too am really looking forward to you doing some more on-the-water trips, once the gov allows :)
Very nice Nick & glad you didn’t damage yourself on the little slip. You mentioned the word expert in navigation. Well definition of expert is, Ex as in the Latin for has-been, & Spurt as in drip under pressure. Hence Exspurt! Nick I really enjoy your walkabouts especially since we woke up to snow in Ontario, Canada & it’s May 9th. Makes social distancing easier on Mother’s Day weekend.
I live in Brixham! It's better than it looks... The light house on top of Berry Head (not on the breakwater) is the highest lighthouse above water in Europe! It isn't very tall itself but it being on top of a cliff makes a big difference. Berry Head is on the southern side of Brixham and is amazing. Great views and if you go down the quarry you can walk around the cliffs! many people fish there also. Brixham is a beautiful place
Good morning, I am an early riser too, just watched and enjoyed your Brixam vlog, we had an early morning breakfast on the harbour and watched some fishing boats leave into a cloudless morning. I will do my morning tour now. I think a knotted (clean) Hankie on your head would finish your outfit well, colour matched of course. Val my wife will watch your vlog later, it has Rabbits, Bluebells and a dig at Gove, it will cheer her up, she’s lived with me for 46 years. Stay safe.
Brixham's lovely! I went on holiday there when I was younger in the 90s. Pretty sure I did most of that walk. Certainly looked at the breakwater and the marina (because I was slightly obsessed with boats) and I might even have looked at the boats for sale in the window of your brokers. We went mackerel fishing (because as a family we had to go on at least one boat whilst on holiday).
Thanks that was great, I really enjoy walking with you. The UK has incredible history, steep hills and loverly old buildings and much more but I think we in Australia have better beaches. Hope you didn’t hurt yourself when you slipped, take care Nick.
I have so many memories of going to the new forest as a child. I need to go again and take my children. We have been going to Hastings for the last four years. Think it's time to take the caravan to Torquay. Long way to go from leeds but worth it.
Sigh! Again. A beautiful part of the country that makes my shutter finger itchy. There are some wonderful photography opportunities that make me want to travel there even more so. It’s great to see you healthy and safe. Take care.
That "hills going uphill both ways" effect is more common than you might think. I used to commute to work to Halifax, and from Halifax railway station to 'Dean Clough Mills' where my office was situated, was a strenuous uphill climb, when I left for home at the end of the day though, it always seemed to be another uphill climb from Dean Clough to the railway station. That still puzzles me to this day! 😕
Beautiful Brixham! So many memories of happy family holidays in Sunny South Devon. Stay safe and we look forward to your next early morning walk. Hi from our family in Thailand 🇹🇭
That's a good walk good exercise fella love your channel watch all your Super Yacht videos my dad was a marine Chemical engineer retired now worked on every marine vessels from military to containers vessels cruise ships
I'm so glad I've found your 'walking' videos. So far the one on Brixham is my favourite. I went here as a child in the 60s so felt a bit reluctant to return as it has changed so much. However, can't wait to go. Booked for a week self catering in Galmpton from 8 May. Just have to see how many of your walks we can recreate in that week. One thing for sure tho' I won't be up in time to see any sunrises - ha ha. I do hope you continue with these wonderful videos.
