Hi Taylor, I'm really enjoying following you on this epic journey. I've been following you for a couple of months now. Your vlogs are informative and entertaining and have got better as you've gone along. I look forward to watching them every evening when I'm on my rowing machine (I'm training to row across the Atlantic later this year).
Dried fruit and granola -- bing bing bing. We have a winner. Nah, seriously, you make a good point: With everything you have done and how well you have done it, nobody can argue with your food strategy, or any other strategy, for that matter.
Glad that you two are doing well. I got on at Lehigh Gap, Palmerton and made it to Delaware Water Gap before my Achilles tendon of my right leg got the best of me again. I was hoping that it was healed enough but it isn't. It just blew up as big as my heel. Oh well. At least I get to follow you again. God bless.
Taylor - I hope you set aside an "epilogue" episode when you're all done on the costs of the hostels that you stayed at (maybe average costs) , the costs with the shuttle drivers (like in this episode), etc. I think It would be very informative for many on here. I have really enjoyed following you along and will be looking forward to hopefully following in your footsteps when I retire in just over 2 years.
Don’t be discouraged when you see the costs. Taylor’s spending will be on the high end because of the frequent hotel and hostels stays and dining out. On my hike, I spent very few nights off trail and then when I did, several times I slept in church basements for free. I used shuttles rarely and only at points when it was an inconvenient out and back hike to the trail in an isolated area. I didn’t scrimp on the quality of my gear or apparel and enjoyed the hike comfortably.
@@jimmyjenkins9240 I understand and since I only plan on doing the AT once as I'll be 60 at that time I will spend a bit since it's a bucket lister for me.
"How gorgeous is Maine?" - It's is incredibly beautiful! I'm biased as I grew up in Maine near where the AT crosses through Monson. Spent my youth in the mountains around Moosehead Lake area. I'm really enjoying your videos. (I now live in Southern NH and spend a lot of my time in the Whites)
The ukelale guy was impressive. Glad you included it. The most amazing thing is your and Stretch’s attitude. Still energized and happy after 1900 + miles.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who craves Fritos while hiking. Those and Liquid IV were my favorite things when I climbed Cherry Mountain a couple weeks ago!
You guys continue to impress me! Awesome job! Btw, what do you use to keep your devices charged? I have tried a few different things but they don’t seem to work well.
Taylor, with your hike adventure winding down and your next adventure being your wedding, where can we ship wedding gifts to or is there a registry you have online. Happy trails, hope Freddy Mercury can keep up with you 😅
I have been blessed to live in Maine my whole life. Even more blessed to be exposed to the AT at and near its several road crossings and parking lots. My work and play take me across the state and I always get a chill when I cross the hallowed ground of the AT in Maine. Its nice to see the Mainers chiming in. A good portion of folks in Maine have had some exposure to the AT whether they knew it or not!
I’m happy to see you’re doing things to make your journey more fun !! While this is a magnificent physical accomplishment its also supposed to be fun. Have more happy feet !!🦋
Morning Taylor! What a stunningly beautiful day. Seeing Sunday River like that was so amazing. I have totally been my that Food Lion, and damn right you deserve to eat more junk food! Mad props to the ukulele player! Totally unexpected. But totally appreciated! Im glad your day of slack packing and the chill night at camp helped you recharge and reset. You have been busting your butt over some of the hardest miles of the whole trail, and I am so glad that you found what you needed to restore balance. When you made the comment about the last map in Guthooks it made me realize that you could be summiting any day now. I for one am so honored to have been able to watch your journey and will be sending you both every last positive thought I have as you realize this amazing dream. Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. -Grateful
You’re so close to finishing, I was wondering if you wish you had slowed down, or will it work out perfectly to get to Katahdin early and avoid the rush?
The thing about Katahdin and all of NE really is the terrain and the weather. It would be foolish to intentionally go slowly down south and delay reaching New England on purpose. If that’s the best you can do and/or don’t care about finishing that’s fine but … go see Dixie’s AT hike. Her ascent up Katahdin was a nail-biter. The weather was not good. It’s nice to see these two under sunny skies. Now if they want to take it slowly, then can do that. Much smarter to do the lazy days now within range of the end.
I’ve only been to Maine once, but this video makes me want to return! Your resupply reminds me of what my son would buy😆. You’re right, you’ve walked nearly 1900 miles, eat what you want.
@@George-pf8zb Granola is not considered a health food. It's loaded with sugar. Dried fruit is good. Along with natural sugars it has fiber which slows the release of the sugar into your bloodstream. It doesn't spike your insulin like regular processed sugar does. Peanut butter (no added sugar is best) is good.
Vous pouvez manger ce que vous-voulez…seulement 50 km a Quebec! Actually the AT extends even into Canada but it has a different name- The International Trail, all the way to Newfoundland.
@@js1642 I know that and you know that (and a few others do too) but some people have to make their own mistakes. Live and learn. You can lead a horse (person) to water (knowledge) but you can't make them drink (think). Learned that the hard way so now I usually just keep my mouth shut.
The opposite of that is: Why buy the pig when the sausage is free ? Not sure what you are referring to here, just thought I'd throw that in as long as you brought up the subject.
