May 5, 2023 Please pray with me for Souls in Purgatory. The Prayer of St. Gertrude Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
I am sending lots of love and prayers to everyone here! You all seem so lovely, I can't wait to be once united with all of you in heaven (hopefully) 😇❤️🤗

You have such a kind heart & I have no doubt you’ll be be united with The Lord as I hope & pray that I’m there too! 😇I hope you’ve had such a beautiful most blessed week and such a beautiful blessed weekend to come. Tysm again 🙏🏼God bless you always ✝️😇🙏🏼💖
I am going to not only listen to this Bible Study this year but will do so again next year, God willing. Since I listen to more than one a day, most of the time, I may start again earlier. Any others listening for a second time? #prayforSoulsinPurgatory #SaintFaustinasDiaryinaYear #MarianPressPodcast #FatherRoesch #ThankyouFatherMike March 20, 2022
Hi Dawn M. Yes, I've been on the BIAY for the second year. Sometime during the end of the first year, I've started to listen to Fr Mike while reading and taking notes in my bible (I was just listening before). I'm updating some days (like today) that I listened with no notes. Now I have a bible nearly filled with Fr Mike's daily inspirations. I knew a priest who would ask people to say prayers for the holy souls in Purgatory, especially, the most forgotten soul because, as you say, they need our prayers. I've been following your inspiration to others to pray for them as well and tried to give you credit if I don't see your post that day. Because of you, I've also started following St Faustina's diary - you are right this is such a gift to us, with her showing us the way (we have so much help from our saints). Her love for Jesus is so deep, a good model to emulate. In 2023, I plan to listen to Fr Mike with his Catechism in a Year podcast. Your friend in Christ, Ron 12/13/2022
Wonderful! I will be listening to Catechism in a year with you! I am excited about this! Your idea about note taking is a great one. I think I will have a better understanding. I probably will also listen and spend time reflecting the second round which means that I may need longer than a year to go through round 2 with BIAY. Plus, I will be spending time with the Catechism in a year. Marian Press Podcast also came out with a new Podcast Mystical Temple of God that I am following. God Bless you all! December 13, 2022
Father-Abba-Almighty God🙏🏻 Thank you for Fr. Mike and the BIY. ❤️ Thank you for each day. ❤️Thank you for Your great sacrifice and all the blessings You have bestowed upon me. ❤️ I’m here listening everyday but don’t always comment This is my 3rd biy (AND THE BEST!) the other ones were: 1st: the readings were posted; I read them myself. It was a non Catholic Bible. 2nd: I purchased a Roman Catholic Bible and learned that it contained books that were omitted in the Bible. I read it myself over the next 18 months. I found that I could slowly pronounce most of the names in these difficult chapters of names. (But not all of them) And frequently I didn’t understand the continuity of the story )): I’m impressed and excited to listen to Fr. Mike masterfully read these names. And curious how you learned them? Further, I’m learning more deeply because of the wonderful explanations. In 2012 my life was in a very difficult place. After more than 26 yrs of marriage my whole life hit a wall and I felt like I was losing everything. It’s way too complicated to go into detail. Long story short, I started seeking God through many sources. Many Not from the Roman Catholic faith I was born into. I listened to many non catholic pastors who brought me daily peace through their reading & understand of Gods word. I’ve been on a journey and it has been unfolding along the way. God is slowly reveling wisdom to me and I will never stop seeking Him. I’m learning from Great Priests and through the many wonderful Saints throughout history. Especially The Virgin Mary, our Mother and Saint Joseph her chaste spouse and our spiritual father. I hope someday to become a Saint. Through God All things are possible. Love and blessings to all my brothers & sisters in Jesus😇
Thanks for making Chronicles less difficult...whew...Chronicles is what I think most people who don't read The Bible think The Bible is. They think it's a very long list and it is dry to them. But we all know that Chronicles is important but it isn't the only book in The Bible. Thanks Father Mike, I'll say it again...whew!!! In a way I think of Chronicles as DNA testing without the need for a test because you have Chroniclers keeping record of Jewish History for a very, very long time! Continuity helps build a foundation.
Day 122..the constant fighting between David and Saul's people become a snare for them both..should have just showed the new King his respect! Once again, major props for the pronunciations of all the descendants of Judah. After years of hearing these names actually become more clear to me. Don't think I'll ever know them completely.. To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul..all the paths of the Lord are mercy and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies..may integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you. Prayers for Father Mike and all the BIY family 🙏❤
Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, & all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, deciding, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand the word of God in the Scriptures that we may revere and treasure both the Old & the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness & humility, & with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students & faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull & may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Amen.
Another excellent episode that shows the qualities of a leader and why vengeance is bad. * David mourns the death of all of his enemies and shows respect for God's creations. Saul's son kills Abner even though Abner had acted in his self-defense while killing one of Saul's sons. Thus, it was not as per God's will. Violence indeed begets violence. * Fr. Mike is right. We must be careful, we must discern, and we must stay away from wicked people who do us harm but we must pray for them, forgive them, and move on. We must see them as souls that need Jesus and souls that need praying. We must stay protected as we are often among wolves in sheep's clothing. Thus, Jesus said that we must be as harmless as a dove but as wise as a serpent (Matthew 10:16). * Psalm 25 - The Prayer for guidance by David is excellent for all situations when we want to profess our trust in God and also when we seek God's guidance. My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He will pluck my feet from nets (traps/troubles). Amen. Thank you for your analysis and wisdom, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension! God bless and protect you and the fellow listeners. Amen
Thank you for your prayer of protection for Fr. Mike & Ascension and us listeners. In these hectic times we are among wolves as you stated in your wonderful summary of thie days lesion. ❤🙏🙏🙏
I really appreciated you pointing out that not all people are trustworthy; God does not want anyone to be a doormat of abuse. I had a terrific mentor many years ago who advised me on how to learn who to trust. He suggested that we share a little (without becoming too vulnerable) and wait to see how they treat our information. If respectful, they earn the right to be trusted a little more; if not, little harm is done. Respect is to be given freely - trust needs to be earned.
Father Mike your tenacity and courage in reading these names is phenomenal…. I Would have skipped them all to continue with the story. Thank you for making sense of it all 🙏🏽
Praying for Fr. Mike & BIY 🙏🙏🙏 Now that the boat & trailer are sold I am moving my truck into the garage. 3yrs ago I had squirls move into my truck and they damaged wires on the engine and even ate the wires connecting the tires to the controls ($6000.00 damage). I found out that the wiring contains some soybean in it. I was spraying the engine & tires with a special repellent that was quite expensive. I decided to take the risk of people thinking no one is home and keep my truck safe from squirls and field mice. Hopefully people will still know I am here by turning on different lights. I guess there is a risk in every decision we make. Dave's wife Sue is not suppose to come back to FL until June, so I am catching up on my own errands during this peaceful time. Again thanks for all your prays and advice. ❤🙏🙏🙏
A true gift, Fr. Mike, your speaking those ancestral names . This issue and throughout the series. Rap in a sense,😉a mantra, comforting as the Hail Marys in the decades of the rosary . Thank you , am praying for you also.
Again I thank you for your help in sharing God’s words with and all the beautiful reflections which help us so much to better understand God’s words. Because we have a better understanding of words it is easer to live by them. I am praying for you and all priest especially for those newly ordained priest.
Father God, Creator and Lord of all, I thank you for sending us Fr. Mike. I would not have been able to read through those names. So difficult because there are only a few that I can truly say I read that name and know about them. All praise, glory and honor are Yours, O Lord of all.
That's very true when someone hurts you it's hard to forgive I had a close friend what's so upset at me because I did not call him when I got in town I was busy trying to get my parents house ready because they were going into a nursing home. When I told him the reason he would not forgive my mistake was I tried to get even with him the way he treated me that's not a Christian thing to do . I wish we can get the Friendship back but too much damage was done damage was done I knew him from third grade I even got my brother to talk to him and he won't listen
Fr. Mike! You certainly deserve an Oscar for being able to pronounce all those names!!!! And it`s wonderful to be able to not only see the names but hear them too. Thank you!
Thank you Father Mike for sharing the Bible with us. It is such a blessing to have you help us understand all this. pray for Father Mike and everyone. Took a few day off for Easter. Christ is risen Alleluia, He has risen indeed Alleluia, Alleluia.
Ty father Mike, but wow thats alot of names 🤣 but it truely is a blessing and never thought the bible had records like this. Its simply amazing. Ty lord our father for this beautiful gift and ty mike for all of this! You are in my prayers ! All of you!!
17:35 Father in heaven, we give you praise and we thank you. We thank you for the difficulty of these days. Honestly, God, it is difficult to get through these names. And we just have to admit that, yes they mean something, yes they're powerful, they're meaningful, and they're difficult. And that is worth noting. It's worth noting that, oh gosh, Lord, thank you, thank you for your Word that is rooted in history and rooted in reality, rooted in people's actual stories. All so all of these names is a marker, all these names are a person, all these names is an untold story. So many of the names we have here, Lord, are names of people that we don't know much about other than their name and other than the fact that they were critical to you, they were loved by you, they are known by you, and they were part of your story to redeem the world. So in the difficulty, Lord, we ask that you plese give us strength, and give us patience so that we can hear the words we need to hear and we can become the people you want us to become. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. †
the background of everything is the Mercy of God for all of us and how we are called to do the same thing with each other. Thank you so much dear Fr. Mike God bless
Today marks 1/3 of the whole Bible. Also, if you started on January 1, a third of a year that we've allowed God to reveal Himself to us through His Word. Alleluia. Bless the LORD at all times. We praise and thank Him forever. Praying for you, Fr. Mike, and everyone here.
Lord, You are the God of our salvation. May we pray for your will over our lives as Jabez did. “Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, ‘Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!’ And God granted what he asked” (1 Chronicles 4:10). Grant us the patience and humility to handle people who have broken our trust. May we always seek their good - that they’d come back to you. Help us to communicate in a way that protects ourselves from further hurt, but also compassion so they can see the depths of your love working through us. 🙏🏻
2 Samuel 3 tells of the six sons David had in Hebron. While David had these sons, Abner secretly gained power in the House of Saul via his connection to the new king Ishbosheth. However, at one point Ishbosheth accused Abner of having an affair with Rizpah who was once Saul's concubine. Abner proclaimed his loyalty to the house of Saul. He sent messengers to David and offered to make a covenant with him. He promised to bring David to the throne of Israel. David agreed on the condition that Abner would not see his face and the condition that Abner would bring him his wife Michal from 1 Samuel 18. Abner accepted the covenant and rallied for support among the elders of Israel. David sends Abner away at one point and his commander Joab asks why, suggesting that Abner will deceive him. Joab kills Abner without David's approval to prevent Abner's alleged deception. David grew angry and condemned Joab for committing murder. David led his house in mourning Abner. 1 Chronicles 3 lists the descendants of David. It separates them from before and after Judah's exile. 1 Chronicles 4 lists the descendants of Judah and Simeon. Psalm 25 is a Psalm of David. David places his trust in the Lord. He pleads to God for help and salvation. He pleads for God to forgive the sins of his youth and to show him mercy. He declares God to be truly Good and Humble. He proclaims that the reverent God-fearing men shall become prosperous. David looks to God to save him from his troubles. He asks God to redeem Israel from its troubles. Day 122 - 5/2/2022
Dear Lord give us the wisdom to help those that need deliverance. No matter the distrust that has developed 🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾💜 “Wisdom forewarns far and wide; she bestows her voice in the streets.” Proverbs 1:20
Fantastic job pronouncing all of the names in 1st chronicles. I love to read along and you are doing a fantastic job. I wonder if there is a funny blooper reel out there somewhere.
Jabez.is in the Bible , I don't know if he is a decendant of Judah ,, but people are always saying the prayers of Jabez, he prayed to God and God answered his prayer and enlarged his coast , it was said that he was a righteous man,
Thanks for all you do Father Mike. We really enjoy everything you do. Have a question on this passage. Wondered your thoughts on why David had so many wives and still needed more in taking Michal from her husband. Why didn’t God address this with David when the kings knew they weren’t to multiply wives for themselves? (Deut. 17:17).
Why didn't David and other male characters honor God's Commandments and have 1 wife to have children with?.. And God did not say anything about it to them..
I jus noticed in my Great Adventure Bible the Psalms, starting with Psalm 11 there is another number in brackets, ie 11[10] why? This continues thru the rest of the book of Psalms
Hi Pat - just scrolling thru comments and yours caught my attention. My curiosity led me to search “why Catholic numbering of Psalms is different?” Here is a cut and paste from that search which is basically saying that when the original Hebrew Scriptures was translated to Greek after the Babylonian captivity, it was because many Israelites no longer understood Hebrew. Greek was the spoken language of the day. In the Greek iteration, Psalms 9 and 10 were combined into one, so that now, since the Catholic Bibles are based off the Greek numbering system, the Hebrew numbers are placed in parenthesis. Clear as mud now? 😆 Happy googling! “The reason that the numbering of the Psalms is different for different Bibles (ancient and modern) is because some Bibles follow the Hebrew numbering system and others follow the Greek pattern. This is just one more reason that understanding where the Bible has come from can help us better understand the varieties of Christianity in today’s world.” Numbering the Psalms? - Pursuing Veritas “Psalms 9 and 10 in the Hebrew text were combined into one psalm in the Greek Bible, so from Psalm 9 onwards, the Roman Catholic psalm numbers are one less than those in other versions. Because Psalm 147 of the Jewish psalms is split into two separate psalms in the Septuagint, the total number of psalms in both finishes up being the same-150. However, only the first 8 and the last 3 psalms agree in numbering.” -Elizabeth Harrington, ‘The Problem with Psalms’, Liturgy Lines, Liturgy Brisbane, 21 August 2015
