A big hello from Pennsylvania. I just watched you on One Step at a time's video. 😅 I really enjoy following Carrie and Phoenix and Season One. Good luck to you on the rest of your Hike. Be careful, stay safe and enjoy your Hike. 🚶 🏕 🔥 🍳 😊 🙏
Hope Story was able to return to the trail. I hate to see anyone have to end their journey after getting that far. Glad the weather is giving you a little break. You've got this.
I came over after watching you in Carrie's interview. I'm chuckling about the parallels separated by 30+ years. Martha(an RN from Jennings, LA) and I(an Engineer from CT) were stationed at Ft Belvoir, VA in 1977. We first met when I fixed her bicycle. I thought that she was a teen(probably a COL's daughter) so I didn't stick around. 2 months later, we were introduced and I learned that she was a Nurse CPT(I was an Engineer 2LT). 2 more months and I ended up fixing her car which started a 39 year conversation. We had a horrible adventure(I developed full blown GBS from a double dose of the Swine Flu vaccination) and later got married in 1978. We had planned to thru hike the AT but never got around to it because we both kept getting injured. Martha died 7 years ago from anaplasmosis and an incompetent doctor at the VA. I now watch thru hiker videos and warn people about the ticks. More and more hikers fall victim to tick bites each year. There are 9 tick diseases in CT now and it is wise to Permethrin your outer clothes and gear every month. Rain and sunlight make permethrin deterriorate. I try to do Trail Magic in CT but my old van and my old body don't often cooperate. I hope that you made it to retirement. I stayed in the Reserves and retired from there. Its not a lot of money but the medical coverage has been good when combined with the VA. I subscribed and will watch the last 1/4 of your adventure. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
Wow, what a story! Thank you for sharing. And Chuck did make it to retirement 🙂 He’ll be going back to work for them as a civilian though. Can’t get enough of the coast guard haha
@@heather__hikes Good for you both. My old man was a USCG Chief in WWII. He thought that he would be guarding the coast but instead he participated in the invasions of 7 beaches. Good Luck, Rick
