How fascinating!! And I am even more impressed that you are carrying on your grandfather's legacy. He would be so proud of you!! With best regards from Malaysia.
Fantástico Trabajo,Señora es usted una Artesana de gran nivel!! La felicito realmente para los que trabajamos con nuestras manos y sabemos apreciar ,lo suyo es impresionante,!!! Un Saludo desde Argentina !!!!!!!
Thought I was going to loose it when I saw you cutting with the bandsaw. Wish I had that much control and confidence. Beautiful work and I agree with R Miller hoping that Mickey contacts you.
What a lovely vocation you have - creating functional, balanced, propellers!! Just think of the exacting standards and tolerances needed for it to correctly power an aircraft - and it's all done by hand!! What amazing skills effect you have!! 👍
I work in IT and I'm regularly frustrated with constantly being confronted with yet another new technology, and equipment that is outdated and unsupported after 4 or 5 years. Then I jokingly say "I wish I had learned a real trade". Especially as a private pilot myself I could totally imagine myself doing this work! By the way, your craftmanship should be rewarded with a personalised signature on each finished prop!
How amazing and very specialized work! My congratulations! This is the first time I see the process. I could not imagine all the necessary effort... It remembered me the time when I was a boy and my father taught how to carve a small propeller, "similar" to these ones, to use in a wind wooden vane plane I would make. I used a piece of cedarwood and carved it with my pocket knife. In those times, all boys were proud of having their own pocket knives! Thank you for bring me back such a happy memory. 👏👏👏🏆🏆🏆 fro 🇧🇷 Brazil P.s.: Sorry for my not so good English.
It’s always so cool to watch an expert at work, I bet your so proud of each and every Prop you create 👌🏼 everytime you see an aircraft with one of props must give you a buzz 👍🏻
Letting the saw do the work is the skill/art part of it. Nice work! I've always admired the craftsmanship involved in air screw fabrication. Whenever I see one on display I can't help but go and check it out if possible.
Great jig to hold the prop while using the orbital sander. Is mahogany hard to come by and probably very expensive. Good to see you again, thanks for the video
It is always fascinating to watch you use the band saw the way you do. You would have a LOT of firewood is most of us tried it that way. Great work as usual.
I assumed that propellers where shaped by steam, every day is a learning day. I would buy one just to hang it on my wall and look at and admire the skills used to create such a beautiful piece of work.
As a maker and restorer of armour I enjoyed watching someone else working with their hands and gauging so much by eye... Weeks of work all of which could be wasted by a single careless strike of a file! Best wishes to you... Subscribed. PS: My Great Grandfather worked for Vickers. 🏆🇬🇧⚒️
@@CulverProps quick question for you, how well does that mask seal up around the nose/cheek area? I've seen reviews of different brands that are all over the place
Jacob Mello i think it depends on your face shape. It does a good job for me, but the guys at the shop don’t care for it. They also have a version that has two straps instead of one and I think that would be a saver bet. I like this one because it doesn’t pull my hair.
Watching you work I keep seeing Garret Blake in the film *Message in a Bottle*. Strong image. I notice you're a bodily extension of the band saw. Amazing. Yes, an artist.
Alaina !!! Wonderful to see that beautiful smile -- er -- dust mask hard at work. I could just watch your work all day. A great craftsman is an artist in woodwork. You are a true artist. Would love to see a video on what you have to do to fix a prop after a ground strike, or even if you can fix a wooden prop? Love your video's !!!
I don't know how I ended up here but I watched and stayed 'til the end, fascinating, and I'm surprised that mahogany is strong enough to do everything a prop must do - obviously it is and it does!! I've watched all of your vids now and the story of how and why you took over from your grandfather, it's humbling to see that you saw it almost as your duty, hats off to you. Standing up all day and working at machines can play havoc with a human back but I guess you've built body strength from doing what you do, I get tired just watching you. Look after your back :o) Anyhow, respect from the U.K. to you and your business, thanks for the great vidoes.
@@CulverProps You're very welcome, you deserve every success. I also hope you fly - we have just bought my daughter her first flying lesson ......... my aspirations for her and my wallet are in conflict at the moment :o/ - thanks for replying. Respect to you.
I am a few lessons in. There is a lot of studying to do. So she can soak that all up while you build your bank account. That’s what I did. It is 3 hours of studying for every 1 hour of flying. Also. All the scholarships are going on right now. EAA, AOPA, and several female only ones as well. Hope that helps! I’m off to study right now.
@@CulverProps I'll show her our chat - maybe you could do a vid or two on your flying lessons? Thanks for giving me some of your time. Good luck on your progress towards your first solo!!!
What a wonderful and interesting job you have. I’d love to do what you do for work. I bet its very rewarding seeing the beautiful and functional product you craft.
i know im asking randomly but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost my login password. I love any tips you can give me!
@Jacoby Arlo Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Absolutely amazing ... you are an embodiment of skills, experience, passion and determination - I have by now seen a few other videos of yours. Please wear protective goggles especially when wood sanding and that dust is flying all over and do arrange for help on a day when you do heavy lifting. Be safe and God bless.
A digital readout (DRO) on your mill would make drilling the hub much easier and VERY accurate. You could clamp down the prop, enter the bolt pattern and start drilling.
Thank you again for these videos. Just a tip... Carbatec make an awesome product called turbo plane. It may help you in fast removal of stock rather than holding the piece like you do at the bandsaw and make the sanding quicker?! Hate to be a stickler too but please wear ear protection. The years of working with and around noisy machines has crept up on me and now wish I was more careful.
just found you via Xyla's channel! I teach tech and engineering at James Wood Middle School in Winchester VA! We are going to watch your collaboration with Xyla and then pick a series of yours for our end of year project for making prop our Technology Student Association flight project!! You are Amazing! Also would love to have you as a guest speaker Zoom call some day next year if you have the time!
How cool would it be if you had a “Builders Assist” program where people could have a hand in making their own prop. The Craftsmanship is outstanding, so cool you are keeping it alive.
Are you trying to kill me?!?! 😂😂😂 j/k I have thought of that before but there is an old saying that if the customer wants to help the cost of the product is double. It’s not that bad, I have wonderful customers, but there is a zone you have to get in.
Wow! That was really cool to watch. This is the first video I’ve seen of yours. Just sub’d and looking forward to going back through your video library.
