You all did a massive amount of work in a short period of time. Seeing all the custom parts you designed and fabricated just shows how much work goes into a custom build like this, thanks for showing!

If you want chassis paint that really really lasts I highly recommend two part coal tar epoxy. It is made for painting iron bridges and such. I used to believe in POR15 but I think the formulation has changed and it is no longer the wonder paint it was. I painted a chassis 40 years ago and it still looks like the day I painted it. You can pound on it with a hammer and cold chisel and it won't even chip. If exposed to UV it does get chalky however you can top coat it if you want. The one thing is that you have to thoroughly sandblast the chassis and immediately paint it when it is properly hot and dry. Probably not worth the considerable extra effort in the relatively salt free BC but definitely worth it in Ontario/Quebec. Awesome content and craftsmanship as always.

Just make sure you don't have any parts left when you're done. It's not complicated, but the sheer amount of relatively overseeable stuff makes you feel like you're putting together a realy big Swiss watch. And it's mostly in sequence too. And dressed in black, all brackets look the same. Are you really doing this ? It's so much fun to watch. Awesome.

Morning Karl & Ellio, you are very fortunate to have friends that can come together, get along & have fun. I agree with you 110% on the grade 8 fastener comment, I use grade 8's on any automotive or machine fabrication....grade 5 is for light or medium duty...

Great stuff! Awed by the magnitude of this build and the way you and the crew keep track of so many parts, and work together putting the LARGE pieces of the puzzle together! Go Japhands and crew, keep moving forward!

The cool thing about those metropolitans, is that the doors are symmetrical, you can put the left door on the right, and the right on the left, redo the catches and hinges and you have suicide doors, cool.

Karl I owned a 1959 Metropolitan. Very cool. If you don’t ride in back seat.Thank you been following for quite some time. The assembly of the ramp truck. Your friends have been great helping you. Elliot has been great as well. Thank for showing your great skills and fabrication on this project. 💕💯👊👍

Karl I'm sure your shock mount setup with be great as the closer you mount the shock lower mount to the center of the tire contact patch the more control you get during small movements. Race cars try to mount out from center as far as possible and some times even behind the axle to do control that. You guys also have stuff tires so less is taken up by the tire itself as well. You guys did good in my humble opinion.

Just a thought, should put never seize on the shock bolts and bushing bolts. If ever have to replace them would make life easier. Also before snugging up the bushings put it at ride hight that you plan to drive it. Won't effect soon much dropping it when parked but bouncing around twisted will rip or tare out the bushings.

@AndrewGeorge-ig1fn

You should have done gas take straps. The taps you welded on will crack and leak over time. You have no bracing in that tank so it will bulge and flex with fuel filling and movement of the truck. If it doesn’t crack or brake i will be surprised. I known oh know what you are doing but a tank that large mounted that way I know for a fact it will brake.

What I hate about this is the prep work. When you get home at night and take a shower and you blow your nose, it's all black. How much of that is in your lungs? Tt's probably why I have copd now.. It seems like you start off well with the mask, but the day you really need it, you're not wearing it,

Anyone that says the upper link for the shocks is too weak doesn't understand that shocks only dampen the axle movement and are not holding nay kind of weight. When you built it I was thinking it was a bit overkill for what it actually does. I am never going to knock someone for overbuilding something though unless it's a racecar where weight is important. A ramp truck can be as beefy as you want.
