Emerge Recovery kicks off April 4th ➡️ emergerecovery...
Today we’ll explore different ways to nourish our nervous system. I wholeheartedly believe the closest thing to superpower is being able to understand + work WITH our nervous system.
In this class I’ll go over PolyVagal Theory in a nutshell to get a baseline idea of the different subjective lenses with which we interact with the world.
Then the oh so important embodiment of it….we’ll try on several different ways to regulate and resource your nervous system including orienting, tapping, shaking, metta + others.
These simple tools have BIG effects. Try them out, take what works + leave the rest.
For more info on Emerge Recovery please visit emergerecovery... for our upcoming program starting April 4th - June 4th, 2023. Please feel free to reach out with any + all questions.
Your donation helps me continue to create free content & keeps yoga accessible to all. Thank you for your generosity & support! ~Cole - colechanceyoga...

Doing yoga with you every morning, for the past two years, has been a corner stone of maintaining my sobriety and finding balance in my physical, mental and spiritual health. As well as handling my ADHD and being spectrum, which I have only really ever treated with self medication. Thank you, Cole!

Thank you for this. This made me cry the second you started talking about trauma. It was clear I needed a release of emotional baggage and I found the tapping most helpful!

Qi Gong is really good for the shaking and tapping! If anyone liked that part, there's so many free 10 minute Qi Gong videos on youtube. African dance is also great for shaking out trapped energy. Just some fun ideas.

I am...here. As Ive cycled in and out of substance misuse, when I finally come back to myself, I was ask myself, where did I go? Why did I leave? Lately I've been saying as I look in the mirror at this new version of me, Here I am. My partner and I weren't in a good place and when we finally dropped our barriers and unsustainable habits he said to me, here we are. It was such a release and beautiful feeling to know we were both there and present and neither one of us were trying to escape anything. I don't want to escape or numb myself anymore, i want to feel everything and let that be okay. I just recently stumbled across your channel and was preparing myself to quit smoking weed habitually and finding this sobriety series was such a blessing. Thank you

Love tapping I do it all the time for my anxiety, because if you just use your fingers no one knows. Also the mecca at rehab we always ended with this. Can't wait to start Emerge. Your sister in sobriety, Carey Ann

I always love the nervous system techniques! Especially the tapping and shaking- I often do this in the mornings, feels so good! I also liked the descriptions of green, yellow, red, regarding how we're feeling. Excellent class, I will definitely come back to it. Wonderful way to end with metta. Thank you!!

I recognize yellow as a state I am in often. It is when I shift from a very creative place (my green) and start questioning myself and how I will be received. Everything I do becomes stress filled and shaky. When I can no longer tolerate being in the yellow, I go into red. I want to numb it and escape it. This is when I binge drink, which of course sends me down a very dark spiral. Yellow is my triggering state. It is where I feel small, like I don't belong, awkward. The techniques you provided felt so good and I will continue to "play" with them so they can become ingrained and used regularly. So much gratitude, Cole.

Hey Cole, thank you! xx I loved the metta practice for helping me see I can move myself out of fear and worry & shift into states of happiness, joy and peace. I loved how the metta then turned to ourselves, showing me how much more unloving I am to myself and how by doing this practice I can begin to cultivate a relationship and feelings of love for myself. Thanks again

Such a powerful practice. Love the kalabhati breathing, and the exercise with bringing elbows in towards the ribs with a quick exhale. Alot of re-patterning as you call it. I think this topic of unhooking is great for anyone looking to change their life. What are we attached to? And if we let go of that, what else is there? Yoga does give us some amazing tools that can "latch" onto safely and sustainably, the breath (that anchor), exhales (letting go), movement (release), mental focus (what do I really want or need? and why?) and connection to the spirit (deeper meaning, purpose, light, etc.). It's such a rich practice, and I'm glad that you have been sharing these amazing practices with others, so valuable. Wishing you lots of joy, prosperity, and light for sharing your wisdom. Namaste.
