Father, may everything that I do this day, whether it be full of joy or pain, whether it be full of love or of grief, I ask that everything I go through today be offered to you just like Jesus offered everything to you. It is in his name we pray. Amen. 10/31/2024
One of my take-aways today: Seeking wisdom is seen as one of the holiest pursuits-an act of aligning oneself with God's truth, knowing Him more intimately, living His holy will, and reflecting God's character in our lives. Thank you Fr. Mike! Praying for everyone ✝
Day 305 today which means it is only 60 days left of this amazing podcast which I have done for the third time this year ( 2021, 2022, and this year 2024. 2023 I did the Catechism of the church with Father Mike Schmitz and Ascension press ). Thank you so much Father Mike Schmitz and Ascension press. Deo gratias 🙏 God is always good and faithful. God bless you all ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Day 305 Thursday October 31, 2024 Happy Hallow's eve day. The Defender Today's readings are 2 Maccabees 8, Wisdom 5-6, and Proverbs 24:30-34. My Lord and my God. My Lord and my God. Praise The Lord O My Soul. Praise The Lord O My Soul. 🙏❤❤❤❤
Day 305 Keep on gushing Fr Mike. Your joy is one of the reasons I got captivated and also the way you read with so much feelings. God bless you always 🙏🏻 Thank you Jesus 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Father Mike never apologise for « gushing » as you call it …. I say it’s a demonstration of the joy you find in the word of God ! It’s so contagious and so indicative of the love you hold for God and his words!……please never stop showing your appreciation and respect for the word of God 🙏🏽🙏🏽
You’ve said on so many “God, what a gift.”. It’s taken me 305 days for that to take hold. I’m not the brightest bulb at 70, but yes indeed, this is a gift. Thx Fr.
I've kept a journal from the start of BIAY and besides my own thoughts I've written much of what Fr. Mike says. Today I wrote most of what Fr. Mike said and especially, we can't always say what God is doing. "But we can say. "You are here and You are active and You are present and You are doing something." Finally. "We all desire Him." 💗 Thank you once again Father Mike and Jeff Cavins for BIAY.
I desire Wisdom, not Knowledge. I know a lot of people with fancy degrees, most (not all) are oblivious to living a holy life. Its all about money & power & status & brands & a big house. I am one of them. I have it all. Yet, I felt so empty; something was terribly missing. And though I am a practicing Catholic & a Communion minister, I still felt God was so far away. Hence, Jan 1st, I started this BIAY and I’m still here on time, every day - what a miracle. Its only by HIS grace that I didn’t drop out. Tried so many times to read my bible; this is it. I’m graduating soon. God bless Fr Mike and the BIAY team. God bless everyone here, in this Community. Lets graduate together!
Fr., never apologize for your enthusiasm about the readings of the Bible! I love how your enthusiasm makes me want to have that same spirit! We are learning so much from you & I want to personally thank you for sharing all that you know so I can better understand Scripture! But most of all, Never Apologize!! 🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤
Thank you Fr Mike. Immaculate Heart of Mary, Blessed Mother of the Eucharistic Christ, Queen of Heaven and Earth, please bless Fr Mike, his family, his friends, and give them all pure hearts. God Bless you Fr Mike.
Whenever it comes to God: gush, gush, gush! His Word sets our hearts on fire. When you gush father Mike, I am so happy and I get excited and realize how awesome and amazing He is. Thanks for leading us to Him and helping us grow in faith and wisdom as Judas Maccabees did with his troup.
Fr. Mike your excitement in the word of the Lord, excites me, Your explanation of the scriptures has enlightened me so much, I am beginning to understand the story of the Bible. before when I would read scripture, I would skip lots of it because it didn't make any sense to me, but now I am So, So glad that I have followed you this past year my understanding is much better. I get excited to sit with you each day to learn more. You give me peace in my heart, I feel my heart just being overwhelmed. I also feel regret for not putting God first in my life. Since I started reading the Bible every day, I feel God's presence what a feeling!!! Amen
On “asking God for wisdom “. This brings joy to my heart. At the age of seven in a catholic school, Sister read to us the story of Solomon! The story about the two mothers and to whom the baby belonged. I was so touched by the story that I couldn’t wait to get home and pray. I got home and ran in my bedroom, shut the door, got on my knees by my pink taffeta bed and closed my eyes tight and prayed “Oh God please make me smarter like you did king Solomon. I don’t want to be book smart, nope, I want to be the kind of smart that helps people. God please let me help people. Amen!” That might have been the first of many intense prayers in my life. Yes God did deliver. As I grew I learned the proper name for smart, wisdom. I’ve asked all of my life and that one prayer has grown and changed as God has taught me and provided spiritual direction along the way. God is sweet! Wisdom is better than candy. God bless you Father Mike and may God also bless all of us!
Fr. Mike, thank you for your reassurance - that although we are imperfect, distracted, etc. God is reaching out to our hearts if not our heads, to guide us to Him. Our sinful nature does not dissuade Him one iota. He is truly the "Hound of Heaven" seeking us out and reeling us in, one step at a time much like the fisherman reeling in his catch. God love you, protect and guide you, and reward you for all you do for His children / your children in Christ. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with those of us on the journey through the Bible in a Year. Praying for you; thank you for praying for us.
All BIAY community desires to know him. We have the desire for Wisdom, you Father Mike are a blessing to all of us, to me. Thank you for bring God's Word to my home, to my ears, to my heart. Amen. God bless you! ♥🙏
It makes me sad to think there are only 60 days left to listen to BIAY with Fr. Mike. No more comforting and inspirational words from Fr. Mike? I know it has probably been a long, hard commitment for Fr. Mike to do this podcast every single day, but the Holy Spirit has spoken through him straight to me, and I imagine straight to many of us in this community. The only way I can think of keeping this going is to listen to the recordings all over again next year! That will be a blessing!. I am not sure if I will be able to find the podcasts all the way back to Day 1, but hopefully, they stay in the system. I pray for Fr Mike who I think of as our modern day Moses, and I pray for all of you in this community to stay strong as we traverse the desert of our modern world. Thank you Fr. Mike for all you do! Also, for those who help bring this podcast together behind the scenes -- Thank You!
@Catherine Link. I hope you followed your own suggestion of listening to BIAY a second time. There is still so much to learn by listening to it again. If you tried, you found all the podcasts are just as easily found on your favorite podcast to listen over and over. Trust that God is present and active in your life. God Bless. 11/1/2022
Don’t be sad. You can click “you tube” anytime and search for BIAY Day 1 any to start over. Then do the same: BIAY DAY 2. .. if you hit the subscribe button another one shows up but many time it’s not the consecutive day so just type the next day in the search instead. I always type the next day into “Notes” so I don’t forget. (Or just write the next day down so you know which one to search for.) Fr Mike has so many other talks on RU-vid. So much to listen to and get inspired. He truly is a gift bringing us closer to God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. God Bless
I love what Paul has to say to the Ephesians, in fact I have prayed it a lot this year. EPHESIANS 1 v 17 - 21 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and in his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand, in the heavenly realms. NIV Solomon was given great wealth because he asked for wisdom not riches. Love the enthusiasm Fr Mike, thank you.
Thank you Father Mike for your insights. No need to apologize. Your "gushing" actually makes me smile😅. Praying for you and everyone in the BIAY community.. God bless🙏
Fr. Mike, you cannot gush too much about the greatness, holiness, and goodness of God's Holy Word. Thank you for teaching us to love His Holy Word more and more this year. God bless you, and you are in my prayers. Thank you for your prayers, because oh, I know that I need them.
Thank You O Lord God for always protecting me and my family even though we are living a sinful life. Praise The LORD o my soul, praise The LORD O my soul. 🙏 Thank you Father Mike Schmitz and Ascension Presents. God bless you.
The Book of Wisdom is so beautiful, I find myself underlining almost every verse! I am sorry for Protestants who do not have this book in their Bibles. They are missing so much.
Yes this was a very good reading tonight thank you Father Mike thank you for being here for us thank you for doing this podcast in Jesus name we pray I pray for you I pray for the community and God bless and good night sleep well
It’s all right, Fr. Mike, gushing is good especially when you’re talking about God and his love for us ,and his presence in our daily lives. Forever grateful for your daily podcast to which I listen , usually first thing in the morning.
It’s easy to desire instruction but then to actually seek it and to obey the laws is a truly hard task for us. The book of Maccabees so action packed it’s unbelievable that I haven’t heard about this before. So much truth in programs as usual. There’s so much in Scripture about how to live life.
God I know you are here, present and active in my life. Help me pray for my brothers and sisters who need your help. Help me pray for the souls in Purgatory so they soon can be in your love forever. Today being All Saints Day, give thanks to your favorite saint for their intercessions for you. 11/1/2022
Fr. Mike you have done such great and beautiful job with putting together this Bible in a Year for us.!!! I know you are a busy priest and your explanations are so very helpful to me and each of us. I hope you have a happy, healthy and Blessed Christmas. I look forward to hearing about your future plans and perhaps I may repeat the Bible in a Year next year. I’m 72 yrs old, attended Catholic elementary school, public high school, and a Catholic Nursing School. Reading the Bible was never portrayed as a should do thing! You have just made this year so very important to me. God Bless you in your future endeavors. You ‘re doing great in my book!!!😅
Father Mike is starting Catechism on a year in January 2023. It looks like you are pushing through BIAY like me, to end 2022 at reading 365. I plan on joining his catechism and redoing BIAY for 2023 to keep Fr Mike's influence strong in my life, since he has helped me grow my faith. Hoping to see you in catechism class!
October 31, 2023 Round Two Have you ever considered listening to Saint Faustina’s Diary in a year and/or EWTN Mother Angelica’s Classics to add to your Catholic learning? Oh my goodness so much life guidance in conjunction with Father Mike’s Bible and Catechism in a Year!
Hello Ascension Father Mike Schmidt I have a prayer request I'm going in for complete knee replacement surgery in the morning March 2023 requesting prayers you are always in my prayers God bless much love glory be to the father and to the son and to the holy Spirit as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end
Thank you Fr Mike May God have mercy 🙏🏾❤️ “he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.” Psalms 91:4
My heart took such a leap Father when you said “We desire Him”. So good as you would say 😊. Our whole life is centered on that aspect....We desire Jesus. Thank you Father and God bless you.
All of you people watching this please pray for a friend of mine her words exactly “I don't know if non-believer is the right word, I'm not affiliated with any particular religion, I'm probably agnostic right now, I do find value in the psychospiritual, maybe to say I'm questioning is more accurate.”
I was wondering why the owl is considered wise, turns out it is because they have exceptional eye sight and hearing, hunt silently in the dark, can live to 30 = builds up wisdom and experience. They communicate by hooting, screeching, hissing and whistling. Some cultures think they are spiritual guides and messengers. So not sure I can identify with this birdy, I am short sighted, not keen on the dark, and not given to hissing and screeching 🦉
Mother Mary pray for me….ABBA Father HELP!! “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5
October 31, 2024 Round Two Will you please take a moment and pray with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
Proverbs. 24 More Wise Sayings 30 - I walked through the vineyards of a lazy, stupid person. 31 - They were full of thorn bushes and overgrown with weeds. The stone wall around them had fallen down. 32 - I looked at this, thought about it, and learned a lesson from it: 33 - Go ahead and take your nap ; go ahead and sleep. Fold your hands and rest awhile, 34 - but while you are asleep, poverty will attack you like an armed robber. The Good News Bible (TEV). 📖🕯✝
