Day 73 | Sierra City and Tramily Shenanigans | Pacific Crest Trail Thru Hike 

Interesting that you could smell fire out there. There are some pretty bad wildfires just west of where y’all were at the time you were in Sierra City. The fragrance of those pine forests must be amazing. One thought about attending church while on trail: many, many, many years ago, when we took our Scout troop on longer trips, we always made it a point to get to church on Sundays. While it may seem obvious that it is good for US to go, we noticed that it had a big, positive, & wonderful effect on the congregation. Here we were, a bunch of hiker/campers, in ‘trail condition,’ taking the time to be there, & folks took notice, & were greatly edified by it. It’s great to see you back with your tramily..

Such a beautiful soul you are, I think I said that to you before but need to again! God has you with this Tramily for a reason as I’m sure you know, “ it only takes a spark” you will be rewarded for sharing Jesus with them and even if nothing comes of this (🙏) at least He’s being talked about ❤ Praise God!

Beautiful views on your hike today and that was such a cute little town where you stopped for breakfast, a burger, and ice cream! I love how you give credit to the Lord Jesus Christ in what you do and receive and I am sure you are a wonderful inspiration to your tramily! That is so great that you try to attend church whenever you are at a town on a Sunday! I hope your tramily gets the opportunity to join you at church. Were you at Packer Lake Lodge for the evening? We went there every summer for awhile, it was just a couple of hundred yards off the trail and looks very similar to the area where you stopped. We also hiked that climb from Sierra City and up to the Sierra Buttes Lookout. Fun Fact: Sierra Buttes is the model mountain for the Disneyland attraction Grizzly Peak, which is one of the Buttes that looks like a grizzly.

Susansville has a great church but we’re about an hour off trail. Chester is also a great place to go to church. Northern California is very conservative.

How many days were you in Glacier Park and in Denver? We you unable to go to church then? Oh no we only saw a zero in 1200. Was the person behind you a thru-hiker or day hiker? Strange...
