Day was a true pioneer of public television: co-founder of KQED in San Francisco, president of WNET upon the merger of National Educational Television (NET) and television station WNDT/Channel 13, and most recently, Chairman of the CUNY TV Advisory Board. The series features fascinating interviews with notable cultural and political figures conducted in the mid 1970's. (Taped:06/03/74)

What his sexual preference was has absolutely nothing to do with his talent as a performer. I hope actors today still learn from this brilliant man's intellect, passion for the art(s), superb comedic sense and wonderful acting abilities. His death was such a tragedy but hopefully his life taught many others how to live and act and love their work. What a fantastic artist he was!

George was murdered by the family of a boy he adopted in the Dominican Republic. It was a terrible end to a wonderful life.

So you're glad this thug and his family plotted a cold blooded MURDER for money to get George's $2 million estate? whose the sick one! Read the FACTS as related by his closest confidante, a woman named Bea who stated George was purely a FATHER to the teen and ADOPTED him, bought him a $25,000 business to get his set up with something and that kid just neglected and dumped it. At stake was George's $2 million house and estate, and this thug named Juan and his family plotted the murder, took him out to a field and tortured him for 8 hours, killed him, and tried to fake a roll-over car accident on a mostly LEVEL road, not knowing George detested driving, and drugs and those who did drugs- the punks family did drugs too. George's dog was run over by a car, his favorite bird was found with it's head cut off, his car was cut into 4 sections and nailed to a tree, and the thug and his family basically bribed the cops and who knows who else, it's a filthy, crooked drug infested hell hole there and that was Georges' mistake of buying a house in that craphole! Any other person would have been grateful this guy bought them a $25,000 business and put them in his will, not this punk! he and his crooked family wanted the money NOW and killed the guy for it. @@HobbyOrganist I don't think Alex Winter loved him. If you think a middle-aged, homosexual man travels to the Dominican Republic and "adopts" a teenaged boy so that he has an heir, you are a next level of naive. There's a name for this, and it's called "sex tourism." I agree that I would prefer this not to be the method of justice. Jesus said that those who lead children into sin would be better off wrapping a millstone around their necks and casting themselves to the sea than face the wrath of God for their misdeeds. I doubt anyone is mourning George Rose where he's sitting right now.
