If you need to scramble the colors evenly throughout the quilt, take a picture of it with your phone and look at the black and white version. It will give you an idea of the contrasting of it without the actual influence of color. I have found it very helpful. Once in a while you find a dark spot or a light spot really stand out you didn't notice before.
Hey there 👋🏾this was SUPER HELPFUL for me this morning. I’m not good at knowing what goes together or looks best. That’s why I buy precuts lol. Even so, I’m still not good at figuring out what order to assemble the blocks in. I did what you said an hour ago. It totally helps! I just evenly spaced out “black” and “white” and kept taking photos until it was even. Thank you so much!!!!

I agree... and I'm your best advertising agent ever (but I'm not alone.) On the FB quilt groups, daily someone posts, "Where is it safe to order fabric online?" or "Who is reliable to order from? I'm anxious when I give out my card number to order online." or "Who has a decent selection so I can reach the minimum purchase for free shipping?" Thank you for another great tutorial. Some observations/requests: 1. It was awesome to see colourful flowery fabric instead of batik and/or grunge. 2. I would love to see a bio video of you & your husband explaining how you started in the quilting business 2a) Donna, you once said that you quilted around 2000 quilts, I’m so curious to know more about that. 3. I would love to see a video where you explain how you get the whole quilt done on your longarm...we only see the start, I would be curious to see how you get the second, third rows done until the end. I love both, and I love to watch her sew. I wouldn't mind if the videos were longer to watch Donna fly through the quilt as she makes each patch. She sews so fast and I'm sure even faster when she's not showing us. She's amazing on that machine!

You are a great instructor! I’ve watched so many quilt tutorials and there is too much time spent talking and having to watch each and every piece cut and sewn. I did not think I would like that quilt at all, but again Donna is the Master of color and selection. Well done. The quilt is beautiful, the large dark border makes it pop. Well done.
Not wanting to start an argument here - but just to show there is always one that is a little odd out (me!) I loved it! But of course, we all will pick the fabric that appeals to us, its the pattern that is so beautiful!
I agree with everyone about the fabric. At first I was so surprised by the choice, but, I must say I fell so head over heels in love with the finished quilt I bought the pattern n fabric!!! Haven't started it yet...too many quilts in line in front of it, but, I can't wait till I do start on it! Donna truly has a gift!!! :)

If you take a picture of the block layout with your phone, it will show you if you need to redistribute the colors. It’s pretty helpful actually. Funny how you notice it more in a picture than you do in real life. I wonder why that happens?
Very true. I took a photo of the layout of my blocks in a quilt I was working on recently and noticed I had sewn one of the blocks together wrong. So glad I saw it before I had sewn all the blocks together.

This quilt is beautiful with the prints you chose. Your fingernails are always beautiful, but the faceted one on the ring finger is something I have never seen. Love it and love your tutorials. My dearest DONNA, I would like to see more masculine projects, I've noticed over the last few years that you don't make many of them. I have an 8 year old and I need a good quilt pattern for him. He is an active little man but not a rough one. He also loves to curl up in a blanket to watch television. So I need a pattern for him, a special one. I so hope you can help me. Huh, what is masculine? As far I discovered they take my most vibrant colored ones while the women prefer special motives or decent colored ones who fit their furnitures. I even had one who took a pinkish gold colored one for himself. It is all about personal taste and not gender. So better ask your child what colors he wants and show him different patterns you will find out if he is the type who prefers simple modern or old patterns. I found out that especially children have a very strong opinion what they like and what not.
