Thank you for all your help I’m been watching the on my Tv while drinking my coffee I have learned so much from you. This week is teacher awareness week so I’m nominating you for teacher award! Thank you for being so easy to follow ❤🎉😊
I just got lucky. Of course it was hard to mess up with that particular group of fabrics since they all coordinated together. Thank you for watching. April
Hi Christy... For this quilt all the fabrics were Tula Pink ... but I buy my fabrics for vaious other quilts everywhere ... walmart / joann/ quilt stores etc .... I just love fabric! Thanks for your question April
Gorgeous! I went to the link to see the pattern and it wouldn't pull up! ☹️ 1. How many fat Quarters did you use! 2. How big is your 4x4 top? Thank you!
Try this site and see if it works: tinyorchardquilts.com/. Scroll down to the bottom and you should see the plaid pattern. It took 16 fat quarters. My 4 x 4 top? I'm not sure what you're asking. So sorry - I am sure I should know. LOL. Thank you for watching. April
Thank you April. I answered my own question when you wrote back. The 4x4, I meant 4 blocks wide x 4 blocks down. That would mean you use 16 fat Quarters. Right!?
If you want, check out Tiffany's Quilt Life's 25 block squares. She has a way of putting them together without cutting apart the rows. It's very similar to the process you used. Take care and thank you for sharing. That turned out quilt turned out beautifully! Whooeee!!
I have watched her . She quilts beautifully. I will have to check the 25 block squares video. Thanks for the tip and for watching my channel. :-) April
I love, love, love this pattern. It's the most sophisticated pattern I've seen. I'm looking forward to making it. You teaching style is so relaxing. It makes me feel brave. Just pick up the rotary cutter and ruler and have at it. Thank you and have a blessed day.
My display wall is flannel covered pink insulation board hung on the studs in my unfinished basement to form faux walls. It was my husband's idea which makes it extra special. :-). Thank you for watching and commenting. April
If you leave it attached at the first seams you sewed and left it attached when you put on the third seam of row, then you just have to flip the rows together and sew them to each other! All of the junctions are still connected and it’s harder to make a mistake in the piecing. Also,if you leave you’re sewing mid block, you have no problem at any time in figuring out where you were.
When chain piecing like that you can leave them connected the whole time. All you have to do is connect the last piece and since the whole block is somewhat connected, it would be easy to connect the rows and nest accordingly
So true. I always forget that - thank you for the reminder. Could you remind me while I am piecing it? LOL. Squirrel. Thank you for watching and commenting. April
The answer to your question is ... it is a SEW STEADY GREEN GRID GLIDER MATT it smooths where your machine and table meet I linked in the description on the video THanks April
Can you be my friend? I wish I had a friend who sewed and can show me how to work my machine, motivate me, and get through the mistakes that take me so long to rip out the stitches. To think of it, I need a friend that knits too. Lol!
I can be your sewing friend. LOL. I don’t have the patience for knitting. When they come out with a machine that knits I am in! LOL. I am with you on ripping out stitches. Just let me know what questions you. Email me at aprilscraftroom@hotmail.com. Thank you for watching and commenting. April
It is a Sew Steady Grid Glider - it smooths the surface on your sewing machine bed. I have a link in the description or just Google Sew Steady Glider and you will see all your purchasing options. This is the most cost effective mat I found. Thank you for watching. April
I haven’t finished it yet. I think I am going to go without a border. I am struggling with how to quilt it too. I always struggle with that. Any suggestions? April
@@katywuste9054 I'm thinking about using the patterns that I've been practicing with during the Angela Walters Free Motion Quilting Challenge. The Paisley Feather is one of my favorites. And then maybe add some pebbles. Or maybe big circles. LOL - I have a lot of ideas, but I am being indecisive. Ha ha. I will do a video when I finish it. April
I just found you this morning. You are wonderful in your teaching, your helpful hints and best of all your humor. I too have a Tula fat qtr pack I’ve been holding. I’ll give in and cut it now after seeing this. Glad I found you. Thanks for sharing your talent.
That is a great idea. Thank you - I need all the help I can get. It amazes me how I can sew the seam on the wrong side when I only go a foot. LOL. Thank you for watching and the tip. April
Amazingly enough the design board was my husband's idea. We took foam insulation and covered it with wood grain flannel and that is my wall. Kudos to him for coming up with the idea. :-). Thank you for watching. April
I do sometimes if there is a big wrinkle but usually I can smooth the fabric out enough to suit me. I know my cuts are probably not at precise but I am on limited time so that is one of the short cuts I take. Thank you for watching and commenting. 😀 April
I'm still struggling with masks due to needles breaking, bobbin breaking, wonky fat quarters that are hard to line up & cut straight, thread that was ancient, tension issues, masks that don't fit every face, straps that were too short, endless issues that caused me to stop from frustration. Re-start, stop, start again...Adding to frustration, I bought the wrong size (12"x18") cutting mat for cutting fat quarters. Invest in larger size cutting mats, new thread & new cutting blades. I finally made a bunch of adult masks but now on to child masks and dealing with fitment issues again...
Girl you know this is big day for you to cut your Tula ! I know I just can’t bring myself to it ! But I’ve never really ever made a seriously large project lol
OMG! It was quite stressful. But one I made the first cut it wasn’t too bad. LOL. I should buy double. One to use and one save. :-). Thank you for watching and commenting. April
I just found you a few days ago. I've watched a few of your tutorials and I love them. I have quite a few fat quarters. Now I know what to do with them. Thank you.
I do not. I have quilted them on my domestic machine, rented a long arm at Quilted Joy (which I thought was quite expensive), and now I have a sit down long arm (Bernina Q16) that I absolutely adore. April
I sure like Tiny Orchard Quilts as well. You did a great job. I have about 6 fat quarters in the line work 2 yds in bright colors and a charm pack. I think I can make this work. Thank you to all that made this possible
I absolutely love the quilt and pattern. will be ordering the fat quarters and making this for my great niece. She would love the colors used in it. As always love how easy it is to follow your instruction and you're so relaxing to listen to. Keep up the good work, much appreciated. i live up north in Ontario Canada
I thought I had replied to you, but I don't see it. You just can't go wrong with a plaid look. And thank you for the compliments - I try to keep it light - it is fabric after all. LOL. I've always wanted to go to Canada - it is on my bucket list. Thank you for watching. :-) April
Hi Carol The design board is a thick craft board covered in flannel fabric and mounted on the studs of my unfinished basement that my husband hung on the studs. It was all his idea! Thanks for watching! April
@Sue Perry - that is a Sew Steady Green Glider mat that smooths the surface between where your sewing machine bed and the extension table or cabinet meet. There is a affiliate link in the description or you can google it. Thank you for asking. April
@Tynia Rich - that is a Sew Steady Green Glider mat that smooths the surface between where your sewing machine bed and the extension table or cabinet meet. There is a affiliate link in the description or you can google it. Thank you for asking. April
A fat quarter is a piece of fabric that is 1/4 yard but instead of being cut from selvage to selvage they take a half yard and cut it long ways. This makes the fabric approximately 18" x 21". You are correct these are often used in quilting. And that is a valid question - I asked that same question when I started getting into quilting. Thank you for watching. :-) April
Thanks for the tips on the free patterns. Its not easy getting things delivered here in Panama we don't have house to house mail delivery! So getting a PDF pattern is way easier!!
This is adorable. I love the colors with the black and white mixed together. Such a very cute idea. What are the final dimensions? 😊 thank you for sharing this with us.❤ Liz🦓🤗🥄🥄🤟🍀
It just depends. If there are creases in the fabric - yes. At some point it gets pressed, but that might no always be the first thing I do. I like the pieces I press to be more manageable, so I try to cut first and then press. Does that make sense? I don't want to press a yard or 2 of fabric. And the fat quarters in this project were very smooth. Thanks for watching. April
I watched your video and it was so simple I decided to give it a try! I am new to quilting but I love to do embroidery and sew things for my children. All my daughters are too old for mom to make them clothes but I make shorts for my son and he likes to help me out (he is 2 1/2)! I want to make all 5 of my children a quilt so that they will always have something made by me that they will snuggle up to to remember me by when I’m no longer with them. So I did this one as my first true quilt top for my third daughter! She is a Harry Potter fan and so we got some HP fat quarters and followed your video! It took a couple of hours to stitch it all together but she absolutely loves it! I have a backing for it but I want to make all 4 of my girls a quilt top before I tackle the quilting. I love watching your videos! As I am currently out with Covid and not doing well your videos are giving me something to look forward to as I am ready to be better and start on the next quilt! My 4th daughter wants me to video her quilt making and share it on RU-vid the way you do as she wants me to do that with them all so she can say she has a RU-vid channel! Maybe I will not sure. Please make more videos!
Hi Thank you so much for your kind words.. My oldest daughter is a HARRY POTTER FAN too ... you definitely should do videos .. I would love to see what you do too ... I am so sorry to hear that you have COVID and please know I will be praying for your healing. Thank you so much for watching my videos. April
just finishing an all plaid fabric quilt, been gathering plaid fabric from clothes for years, it's turned out more beautiful than i ever imagined, will be covering up with for tv tonight. thanks
This video is a great example of how I got hooked on you-love! I have watched your videos as I work along with you-its like having you in my sewing room:)
