Highlights from the final day of the 2022 Mosconi Cup in Las Vegas. SVB/Woodward vs Alcaide/FSR Skyler Woodward vs David Alcaide Shane Van Boening vs Jayson Shaw Tyler Styer vs Joshua Filler #MosconiCup #MatchroomPool #NineBall #Pool
Mosconi Cup is fun to watch!!! The players and fans are really enjoying the game!!!! I hope there will be someone in Asia or the Philippines who can sponsor an event just like the mosconi Cup!!!! There are far so many great pool players here in Asia and the Philippines!!!!!
At a match like this it really isn't about what happens before or during the match but, what happens after the match and compared to the last 2 or 3 masconi cups. This one was sportsmanship at its best for both teams. Congratulations to the European team for winning, and to the US team. Come back stronger next year
Has Shane ever beat anyone in this tournament in singles matches. All I've seen him do is lose to everyone. Only time he wins is in doubles that I see. Him and Styler need to be replaced with better players next year
@@chezeface1142 who do you recommend replacing Shane with? Who else does the US have right now that should've been on the team? I'm asking out of ignorance/curiosity.
@Chester Copperpot well said - exactly what i have always felt over the last years.... i am european - but i dont like to win because my oppenent make mistakes... and every year i sit in front of my tv (or in london ;-) and under pressure usa make horrible mistakes... bad position play and so on
Filler gained some respect for reacting calmly and professionally after winning the final rack. I’m really interested in TPA of each player, hopefully matchroom kept stats, knows someone who did, or will try stat tracking next year! Sports fans love our numbers and averages!
I commented the same for the improvement of his attitude. But then i watched the day 2 highlights and saw that he was still a prick. And it's not about celebrating sir, it's about his attitude in matches and it's nothing new from him. Watch more of his matches and wins, pretty clear.
@@2512wawa he's maturing and you gotta give credit when it's due.... You're right tho, he still has moments of arrogance, that make you say "you lil prick!" Lol
That Shaw/SVB match was as bad as I've ever seen them both shoot. Earl looked like a lost grandpa in the middle of a random mall. Bad wouldn't describe some of the pool I seen.
The momentum shift was really when Skyler gave that 8 ball away. Holy cow those pockets sure seemed mean this Mosconi Cup. Can’t imagine the pressure these guys feel. Hats off to Europe! We’ll get em next year U.S.
Good lads EU. Showed dignity after they won. I’m American. Cheers Matchroom! You’ve got a gem of a program running. Like the old toot said, you gotta have a vision! Y’all be big in 5 years time
Word of advice!: need more content/highlights coming out across all social media. Social media a profound weapon to blow up the sport. Use it! Emphasize the craziness of this Mosconi. Fan and player reactions. Get the people engaged! Sensationalize! Need more social media activity! I come do it for u. Good price for friend
I'm a Euro but I hope to see US do themselves justice again, cut out those mistakes and take the cup back. Would be good see the likes of Shyer pot the winning 9.
I think the European's were probably told after day three that their antics were over the top. They showed much more restraint today. I don't mind guys being excited and celebrating, but Shaw and Filler were just over the top. Nice to see them act a lot better today. And congrats to Team Europe.
Great event, and huge commiserations to you guys having lost, but as I said earlier, the US team showed great sportsmanship in defeat. I only wish my fellow Brit, Jason Shaw, was a bit more dignified at times 🤷 Come to Europe next time, I'm sure you guys will be hungrier than ever 🇺🇸
@@truthsayerq7264 I like Shaw he's one of my favorite European players to watch. He did live with the Pearl for awhile so maybe Earls theatrics rubbed off on him. Either way very exiting and makes me want to see it live in person one day.
I just watched 60 minutes on TV and it was great. They interviewed and showed many pool players from the Mosconi Cup and behind the scenes people. I will be supporting this sport become a fan favorite. The Mosconi Cup is a good starting point to let professional pool go to the next level. Great Job Matchroom Pool!!
If you can't get jacked up and talk some smack to the crowd at just one event in a year then what's the point? It's not like the mosconi cup even means anything. It's like the Ryder cup in golf. No season points are awarded it's just for competition and bragging.
2 Spaniards, a German, an Austrian, and a Brit. Well done lads. Was really great to see the respect and sportsmanship from EVERYONE at the end, and seeing Earl and Jason hug too. After the fractiousness of the last few years, that was awesome to see.
Thank you Emily and Matchroom so much for sharing this great event with all of us pool playing fans. Both teams played well and gave us an exciting exhibition of professional pool.
I'm sorry for Tyler Styer, but I really appreciated how the winning moment celebrations have been put apart for a moment of real sportmanship and support.
This Mosconi Cup will go down in history as the "Cup of missed opportunities". The hardest Mosconi Cup ever. Congrats to Team Europe and Josh Filler. Well deserved!
An excellent Mosconi Cup, great performances all round, and an utterly dignified and sporting response from the American team in defeat, thoroughly enjoyed this. Congratulations both teams 🇺🇲🇪🇺🇬🇧
Skyler Woodward is a fucking monster in this event. His confidence and consistency in the Mosconi Cup is incredible. He is beyond scary. I feel he is the player of focus in the European locker room. Sorry Shane your the second greatest of all time but you need more help from the US players so you don't feel like you have to carry the weight all the time
@@abdullahibrahimhassan7301 thats really funny. I didnt say he was the mvp i was saying svb is the peoples mvp. Europe is really lucky i didnt play. USA is probably gonna take next years win cause im pretty sure Strickland wont be at that one.
Great match Mosconi Cup 2022! no matter what happend sportsman friendship are still there. Thanks specially to Europe and USA see you at next Mosconi Cup 2023❤️
Filler has always been a class act if you watch him in any other tournament. He only hams it up for the Mosconi cup because that’s kind of the nature of the tournament.
Ppl don’t realize so many things. Sky’s miss on the 5 when it was 6 inches from the pocket with a straight in shot and the cue ball inches away in an almost straight line is possibly the worst miss in Mosconi HISTORY. He’s UP 3-1!!! He makes that ball and runs out he’s UP 4-1 with a 98% chance of TYING THE CUP!! 😮 US WINS THE CUP 95% Instead misses ball, David wins rack AND FOUR IN A ROW to win a point, and US gets WRECKED. I’m telling you: IF SKY POCKETS THAT BALL EUROPE IS F&%}#¥D Shane and Jayson could literally not pocket 2 balls in a row and melted down into puddle messes. Europe was rattled. Sky’s misses there, his Hail Mary insane combos, then Shane’s misses, scratches, lead to Ty’s bad misses. I’m telling you that was the turning point!!! It would HAVE BEEN 8-8!!!! 😱😱😱
95% chance us wins after that win? have you seen the rest of the lineup? I dont think the rest the matchups us had the skill to closeout the deal... but u are right could have been different
Extremely glad to see more humility from Joshua Filler. Showing more attitude of a champion. Because skill wise he is a machine, just the attitude was lacking. Respect for that! Very happy to see that! Thank you.
Ohhh wait, just saw the day two highlights. I take it back. Still a prick. It's just on and off i guess. He can't help himself. Dangg, was just about to start rooting for him. What a shame.
That shocking miss from Skyler was the turning point in this event. He couldn't recover. But as much of a legend as he is, I think that's the last time we see Earl at the Mosconi Cup. He was brilliant in his support and team spirit but doesn't appear to have it at the highest level anymore and it is never long before his shoulders drop and he loses hope. And they should not have Oscar Dominguez back in the American team. 3 Mosconi Cups and only 1 point ever won. He almost guarantees giving points away. More european dominance with Filler and the two spaniards in the future.
i also think that there is a time where you have seen to much. i mean from all your experiences you start to get too scared or to cautous. a youthfull go get it mentality often gets away with it. for example he was so scared to hit the six that he misses the four. he said it himself.of corse is best when you can combine both worlds, but as you get older the fear factor gets the upper hand. i think
You can see at the end Joshua filler walking up to do his shot, he wasn’t excited that styer missed that shot, he seems very annoyed with that same type of shot because it’s a pool players nightmare is that type of shot and had amazing sportsmanship right afterwards
Oh yeah, big time. Even at my local bar tourney, when a lot of people (like 15 people lol) are watching me, I miss the easiest shots in the world. One of the greatest shot makers in the world, Shaw, was missing bunnies!! Even Filler wasn't immune to the pressure. Crazy event for sure.
Congrats to Team Europe. As an American it was tough to see America have so many chances - yet failed miserably on easy shots and easy position play. Very frustrating. America is close, but they need to close the deal in tight games. Woodward, SVB, and Styer all lost matches they could have easily won.
So much respect earned from filler after winning last rack especially knowing the frustration from styler missed easy black well played by both sides 🤜🏽🤛🏽🏆🎱
They need to market this tournament better to bring in more people/fans,,,,the pressure is like no other sport,,,,To me, its allot more exciting then the world cup. Next time I miss an easy shot I won't feel that bad.
Yep it was nice to see the winners not rub it in at the end. They were respectful. The US simply has to be better and I think it's time for a roster change.
After rewatching this, USA wasn't that far off from making this much closer than it was. A few misses that SVB and Tyler dont make, could've been a different story. Europe is just so damn good though.
Alcaide didn’t say this is my house. He said “Aquí hablo yo”, which translates to “this is where I do my talking”, while slapping the table, meaning that he lets his gameplay do the talking
I would love to see teams representing Asia, Latin America and Africa. How amazing that would be! I would love to see the Philippines against Europe. They would definitely do a better job than USA team.
Congrats on such a well-organized and significant American participation this year. Unfortunately, it is de Ja Vu all over again from the 2021 disappointing loss of the US team. Europe generally has much better players than the US, where professional quality level has been declining. Why can we have Asia as a third component of the Mosconi?
It is due to new breaking rules. It is much harder to sink any ball, and the cue ball has a higher percentage to scratch due to 1 ball being so closer to the side pockets
Yeah, but there is a good reason for that. Racking in 9 ball the 1 ball goes on the spot, rules changed, is the 9 ball on the spot now, which places the rack forward 2 1/4" closer to the player.
Honestly the event looked staged. Seems to me that they told them Tyler was supposed to win and then he messed up the win and filler had to end it to avoid suspicion. Then instead of yelling and celebrating he had that awkward moment and walked over and discussed it with Tyler. I get that they want it to be successful and I am not knocking them even if it was staged. Matchroom has done amazing things for pool and is growing the sport into what it needs to be.
I know there's nerves. But I've never seen such bad decisions and then bad shots. And what the heck is styer smiling about? He just made a horrible decision to smack an un makable ball as hard as he could around the table and left him an easy shot. What? And then the last game celebrating when he got on the eight for an easy shot to tie up the game and then totally screws it up. Make your shots before you celebrate and play safeties when you have a ball that is not makable. Unbelievable.
I wish I was a fly on the wall to hear Earl after they regroup. In his prime he would have ripped everyone a new hole. But at this age he shouldn’t have to be looked at as a “secret weapon”. Even SVB is historically below his standards at this event. Interested to see how they approach this going forward.
Europe played well, but jeez they got way more luck here with the rolls. I can count at least a dozen that should have been a bad setup but the cueball dipped back and it became a makeable ball
Anyone else notice the announcers seem to think every shot is the shot of the tournament, and each jump is made by the best jump player no matter who it is? Excellent 4 days of pool, but sometimes the announcers over do it for me.
Tyler you need to take 2 weeks off and quit, you can never ever make this bad of a mistake at this level. There's better people ready for this competition.
Very gratified to see Filler, a truly great talent, acting with total sportsmanship at the end. In 2017, he was a complete jerk which detracted from his performance. BTW where was Gorst?
I wish the US could get bigger and better sponsors for pool and then maybe we'd have more players to choose from !!!??? Europe just has to many world beaters to choose from and they're all young enough to keep them strong for years to come !! JMO
