Join me for a night shift in the COVID-19 ICU in Ontario, Canada. I'm Siobhan, a 4th year medical resident and I'm going to bring you behind the scenes in the hospital. The 3rd wave is being driven by COVID-19 variants, which are spreading faster and affecting younger people. With record numbers of hospital and ICU admissions, the military is setting up field hospitals to care for more patients.
Stay safe, support one another, and get vaccinated when you are eligible!
Special THANK YOU to Brittany (MD), Erin (RN), Jen (RN) and the entire ICU team for supporting and collaborating on this video!

Traumas what they went through and we’re gonna need to help him lots of trauma! 🙏😭 the way the government treated then and lack of important equipment that they needed to protect them selves so they could help us. Can you imagine the anxiety in the betrayal!! I’m still living about it and I’m not even a medical care worker this was supposed to be prepared for years ago, so where did it go? What happened and I don’t hear any people worried about that we’re fighting over LGBT an abortion all this other stuff, people need to pressure their government to make sure that are nurses and doctors are prepared for this because it keeps happening. It will not change we’re globalized, and if we continue to be a globalized player, we need to change and reform many things, and no one’s talking about it because it has caused enormous ramifications, but not one person is talking about that.!!!! 😡

That seems to be new with the Delta variant. Congratulations for joining those of us who have stepped back from the brink! I was in a high school that made national news because there was a race riot and the police refused to come on campus, lived for several years in the highest crime district in East Oakland (California) and was run out of the house at shotgun point by my alcoholic stepmother when I was 13, but realistically this is the diciest situation I have experienced. I fear for people who take it too lightly. The vaccines are not perfect against COVID-19, but they are _very_ good and that is good enough.

I just watched a video from Oregon and they are overwhelmed with Covid, people needing surgery for like bowel cancer is NOT happening because all the staff are caring for unvaccinated patients! 97% in hospital are NOT vaccinated mainly aged from 20-50 years not elderly no underlying conditions. If you haven’t please get vaccinated these poor front line staff are exhausted just MSM are ignoring how bad it really is some states worse than others. I have a friend in Oklahoma and she said covid is ravaging the community, no one wears masks, no one has to go into quarantine hence covid spreading like wildfire. I live in Australia and it’s spreading here, they are encouraging people to be vaccinated but of course we have all these idiots saying “it’s all a conspiracy” ……funny how they change their mind if they get covid. I hope they make life so difficult for those NOT vaccinated that they get it so we can all live like normal again instead of being in constant lockdowns. Some “religions” refuse, they ignore everything……

You are amazing. As a fellow Ontarian we are very lucky to have someone like you handling our care. Hopefully with vaccinations finally ramping up numbers will continue to go down and we'll be out of this mess soon.

I cant thank the doctor and nurses enough for taking care of patients with covid, I lost my dad to covid. And we couldn't be there, so it was just the nurses who were there for him. 💚

I can really tell that this is all having a toll on you. And don't try to hide it! People need to be impressed by how serious this is. Make sure you and all your friends and staff are taking the time to mentally refresh if and whenever possible.

Thank you so much for what you do and thank you for showing what it’s like. Everyone needs to see this so they learn that it’s not over and to keep up the safe practices. Stay safe!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I’m a recovering Bone marrow transplant patient and the social distancing is getting exhausting for me too. However you’re right that it is going to get worse before it gets better. I appreciate doctors like you who are there for your patients and practice with empathy and compassion for patients.

Wow Siobhan your strength through all that is just inspiring. I can't imagine what it's like, and you're vlogging on top of it all! You're honestly the exact type of person we need to lead us out of this.

It's so sweet you let them zoom and you express how it hurts you. We can see you truly care. I get scared about medical stuff and you explain techniques. It helps tbh.
