day in the life of a theatre kid 

everyone hates us theatre kids but they sure don’t hate our shows and won’t hate us when we are starring in their fav movie or tv show in 20 years

during final dress, our pulitzer fell out of the pit, and dislocated his shoulder. on opening night, during the part where pulitzer says he was fighting a war and jack asks how that turned out for him, and just kinda gestured at his sling and the audience got a kick out of it and the cast loved it, so he did it all three nights.

On the last day of my newsies run, our Pulitzer forgot his lines when they were reading Jack's pape and instead of "Written by my daughter no doubt" he slams his cup down and screams "who keeps DRINKING ALL MY GOOD WHISKEY??!"

No one hates theater kids more than other theater kids and that a fact

*sees pants and immediately thinks Newsie* oh lord please be a News- OH MY GOD SHE IS 😍😍😍

When you didnt make it into the school pay So you do backstage But an actor quits last minute Soo Basically I have 2 weeks to learn 19 lines and be able to act like a crabby old lady So that's fun I've been dying to be up on stage ALL YEAR FINALLY

During one of my Newsies rehearsals we were staging the scene after seize the day. And I had to run and jump off the stage. So when I landed I tripped over myself and completely cut open my knee, but me wanting to keep going finished the run through of that time, not realizing that my knee was bleeding a lot. So we had to clean my knee up. But we had no band aids so, since the show was newsies we had a lot and I mean a lot of ripped pieces of fabric so we just wrapped my knee up in that and I don’t think I have every felt more newsie like.

For our newsies run on opening night Theodore Roosevelt's mustache fell off on stage and he was just holding it so our Jack goes you looking a little different Gov. And it was the best thing ever

I did the same thing for Halloween/ character day at my school last year and had a killer accent on all day. Since I had so many, I would actually let people buy papers and would pull my teachers into the character. Well, during choir, my choir teacher called me out and began playing carrying the banner and you BEST BELIEVE ME AND LIKE 5 OF MY FRIENDS SANG THE E N T I R E T H I N G

During our opening night of Alice in Wonderland (I was playing the March Hare) Alice was suppose to fall down the isle like she was falling down the rabbit hole but she tripped and fell off stage, passed out for half the show, and her sister in the play had to play her.

During my production of newsies when I played Mr. Jacobi, our Crutchie drank the soap and hot glue in a cup that we used as "drinks" that I handed out during the bar scene. Surprisingly, he was fine

I felt this in my bones, the amount of work we theatre kids do deserve attention y’all let’s be honest, like I just got into a musical and it’s been 2 years so i’m rusty and it’s so stressing tbh

My school makes those big ass musicals like west side story and cats, but they are just WELL BELOW PAR compared to those 15 minute duologues and devised pieces performed by IGCSE theater students during drama night where there are only like 100 tickets

My funny Newsie story:: During our photo call (that family and close friends were allowed to attended) in the middle of WWK, when all the Newsies drop down during the “and the journal too”, our Race’s pants split. Not having time to fix them, costume literally just put pins in them. However, during intermission he got new pants. BUT. In King of NY, when our Race hunched over to watch our Katherine do her tap solo, he also handed her a safety pin that was stuck in his pants that he somehow got out in the middle of the song, and Katherine put it at the hem of her skirt-

Me thinking back to when I first saw newsies and *tried* to do a dance and walk the way crutchy did... My mom was so confused when I limped all the way downstairs

i’ve had to leave school early to dye my hair for a show before! everybody was judging me but hey, my hair looked good in the show (and it’s not like I had a choice, my theatre teacher excused the absences)

Ima be honest I used to think that theater kids were crazy: I am now a theater kid, one of the leads in our next show, and LOVING EVERY BIT OF IT (except mic tape)!!!!

here’s my newsies story: in santa fe, the prologue, our crutchie had to attempt to climb down the ladder with his “broken leg”. he was supposed to “fall” and jack would “catch him”, but then he actually fell and the audience gasped. luckily, he was able to grab onto one of the ladder steps and played it off very well.

Ugh I love newsies so much!!!! And I kinda regret not being a theater kid WHEN I WENT TO A ART SCHOOL

I’m currently in my schools production of Newsies! I’m playing Mush and the show is so fun to do. I can’t think of any specific funny moments right now, but it’s such a great show and I’m loving every moment of it. Only issue is we are having some trouble with big group blocking due to our choreographer and director not totally communicating (though they are both wonderful people) so it’s a bit of a mess and the show’s two weeks away. Wish us good luck 😂
