For you guys that are wondering tech week is the week before the musical where rehearsals are all with costumes, lighting, set, makeup, etc. So basically the rehearsals are like the whole performance with everything.
We even sacrificed one of our friends to the Birthday God. Don't tell that to their demon replacement. And you COULD, because she's not been in the penta... uh... SCHOOL. Yes. School.
I’m not even joking, the first day of drama club (for a new school year) we turn off all the auditorium light except for one, sit in a circle on the stage, and we worship certain musicals as if they were gods (our main is Heather )
hi do piano kids get some since were working our asses off and never getting in jazz band or any orchestra cause piano is not a good instrument and we’re crying at 4am daily
@@alexslide333 I feel like it goes by generation or like decade or something. Right now everybody wants to do Hamilton, before that it was for sure Defying Gravity, and then before that everybody was singing Memory lol
I want to be a theater kid so now im scared because I have bad memory and I stutter...should I be worried? I dont know. Im a good singer and good at acting, thats it.
Bailey The Random Hufflepuff You should defiantly go for theater if you have a natural singing voice. If you have a stutter, theater is a good way to work to help it. There’s a girl in my theater division with Tourette’s, and she finds a way. To remember your lines, just remember to pick up on cues in the conversation. And band kids aren’t that scary, the flutes aren’t even bad once you get to know them.
I've been reading common sense by Thomas Payne. So men say that I'm intense or I'm insane. You want a revolution I want a revelation. So listen to my decloration "We hold these truths to be self evident that all man are created equal" And when I meet Thomas Jefferson I'm a compel him to include women in the sequel Every single day at rehersal me and my friends sing that one verse before vocal warmups. Its very obnoxious and since we are in the cafeteria, everybody can see us and hear us but why would we care
Actually I completely understand because I’m in band (marching, concert, etc), dance team, student council, art club, FFA, honor roll, helping with Ag in the Classroom, and kind of a theater nerd (triple threat here 😏). Also this comment chain might just be a place to flex our many skills to the non theatre kids (you know, those awkward ones who can’t even remember their notes before the test). Jk 😂😂😂
You know that feeling when you're a theatre kid but at the same time you're not a theatre kid because your school/community doesn't have theatre clubs/organizations you can join?
0:45 yes the band need sacrifices we once had a student from another class walk in and the people who knew it started playing megalovania and surrounding the poor child we need more
@Zoe Lawson we are also separated by a door. That's the thing. The band knows not to touch the orchestra instruments (they are stored in our room) but they can't stop us harassing the kids themselves so yeah. One door, one victim, and one big band.
We had an entire music hall and if you were writhing 10ft of any music room or instrument the music kids will summon the conductors who will join forces to kick you out
we play under the sea all the time, usually started by the marimba guy joined by brass and cellos (cuz cellos are awesome and know all the songs) and everyone else playing harmonies and generally just driving the conductor mad. it really freaks out the actors and directors. also had a cello section in an orchestra once who all started to play despacito as loud as physically possible. our section tutor gave up after that.
my best friend as a theatre kid (always getting lead role)walked in the band room (me as a band kid) and my band friends just started honking in harmony forming a cult around her and she was so confused and I was like wheezing but yes we need theatre kids as sacrifices
This actually happened: My teacher: who has heard of Alexander Hamilton? Me dosen't hear her: what did she say? My teacher:repeats self My hand shoots up My teacher:yes Kayla And thats how I got the reputation of loving musicals especially Hamilton
Omg same thing happened to me but in English. As an intro to our Romeo and Juliet unit, we were discussing Queen Elizabeth I, but to do that, we first had to know about her parents: King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Cue me, mentally screaming, "SORRY NOT SORRY BOUT WHAT I SAID, I'M JUST TRYNA HAVE SOME FUN, DON'T WORRY DON'T WORRY DON'T LOSE UR HEAD, I DIDN'T MEAN TO HURT ANYONE" The entire class: wtf? Me: oh I'm sorry, let me translate that for you... I'LL THINK ABOUT IT MAYBE XO BABY
Actually isn't there some sort of rule that you can memorize something by writing it, saying it, and listening to it a certain number of times? I'll have to look it up to be sure but yeah, if you're having trouble memorizing your lines, do that.
i would love to join but im too scared to cuz of my stutter and that people will judge me........... so ive just hidden in corners saying all of the lines my friends have who r in it!!!!
My school doesn't even have a theater class and it sucks monkey balls I would've totally joined if I wasn't a chicken , I was in theater back in middle school just for a year but the class wasn't as motivated and very awkward , raging hormes smh 🙄
@@lovefromjazz relatable I can kinda sing but it’s more musical singing and me changing more voice to fit the character because I have no confidents in my actual voice.
@@lovefromjazz if youre in HS drama, it NEVER hurts to try out. i tried out freshman year, and i fought with my family because i didnt want to do it, but in the end i made it and it was the best experience of that year ever. plus, the seniors in the end graduate, yk. even if you dont get the part one year, they'll see youre confident enough to try out and put you on a list!
Thank you so much for not just throwing together a bunch of awful Heathers and Beetlejuice lip sync tiktoks and the same audio over and over and over and over, but using memes and relatable junk! I have no clue how many times ive watched this lol god bless 💜
*when you're that one drama kid that gets called mom a lot, most kids hate them, and claims all the self-conscious drama kids and does anything to cheer them up and boost confidence with a smile on their face as they think if they look upset others will be upset*
We have this thing each year called a theater retreat at my school where anyone (up to 40 kids) go to a beach house for 2 nights. Singing Hamilton is a must. As well as a giant cult game of down by the banks lol.
God. I wish there was one about theatre kids going over their lines in the halls as they walk to class and literally every non-theatre kid is just 👀👀🤔🤔
I feel the same 😂, i can't tell you how many times I've gotten a look but then you just gonna assert dominance by saying one of your aggressive lines and they walk off real quick.
@@charsweetasjasmine idk man i'm always tired so it's just a state of being for me at this point. I'll do my homework no matter what's going on around me.
my opening night was this thursday and we closed friday, and some kid was studying his lines on friday smh also the power went out during our performance on opening night whoops
SAME, last year for Footloose the power went out and our generator power kicked in all fine and dandy except there are specific lights programmed to turn on when the power goes out and you can't turn them out, so the auditorium was lit up and we could see every audience members uninterested face.
100th like......also pls dont i taste like clementines pasta and being a mom to over 80 (i think i cant remember) friends on discord/wattpad/google hangouts
Do you know what the worst thing to happen to a theatre kid is? To practice for months until 7 pm to start throwing up before the second performance. That’s me. IM SO FRICKIN SAD AND SICK
junglebug4 - noooooooo!!! Hope you’re feeling better! I feel you though, I was rehearsing a show for two months last year and got laryngitis during the run. Still had to perform though, just changed my style of singing! Some people didn’t even realise.
junglebug4 - I’m glad! Break a leg for the rest of ur run! (idk where you’re from but in Australia we say “chookas” instead of break a leg, it’s a long story)
My school never does musicals and there's no drama class. The drama club sucks, they only choose "funny" plays, and the popular/teachers' kids get all the roles. Never get picked anymore and it's pretty sad because people used to tell me how good my acting was and I got really confident with myself.
Im so excited for when I go back to school and having no time to socialize as I play basketball and volleyball, am writing a comic, am a theatre kid, do choir AND still gotta do homework! And make sure I get all A’s
4:23 makes me laugh because even though I'm extremely small I ended up lifting my male partner (also extremely small) in a dance sophomore year because he couldn't lift me
1:50 so relatable. I remember one musical where my grade had a big history project due Monday after performance weekend. By big I mean complete with board, essay, and memorized speech. We got an extension, but sleep was a rare luxury that week.
Common types of theatre kids I've come across: 1. The Hamilton obsessed quirky girl 2. The one who's always the lead 3. The one who's basically the older sibling to everyone and is really talented and nice but you're too afraid to approach them because they're so cool 4. The one who doesn't try and you're not even sure why they auditioned in the first place 5. The one who quits after 1 rehearsal 6. The tryhard 7. Me, the one who nobody notices and everyone forgets the name of.
As a theatre kid *and* a band kid (yes, we do exist) I can confirm that there have been many meals between the two where we just ear someone that got kicked out of the other group.
I’ve actually always wanted to be a theater kid, and it was my childhood dream job to be an actress, but then i realized I can’t sing... I still kinda dream about it tho 😂😅
My school friends think I'm weird for being in theatre, but it's just so fun ! You literally make a family out of the cast and it's amazi.g for people's confidence. My friend has anxiety and social anxiety and now she is shining thru because of theatre
the "if it's not your prop don't touch it" is super accurate for me bc when we did high school musical my senior year, i was head props and literally every day i was yelling at people for moving the props around when it wasn't theirs
Oh dude. I'm an art kid, band kid and (just recently!) a theater kid. It's not that bad, well at least I don't think so. We haven't really done much in rehearsals yet
