yes! you are so very close to understanding God's true character of agape love! that God is not violent at all, never ever! He tells us about & shows us his selfless love continually yet we don't trust Him & we expect He is going to punish us at His will. Yet, He never changes .. He is continually the same ... perfect live giving & merciful
Amazing discussion on how Unlike Adam in the garden who denies his sin, God takes responsibility for his creation. His creation which embraces chaos despite the love of his creator.
I am an avid listener to both BibleProject and Spoken Gospel The last episode I listened to of Spoken Gospel Seth said he uses BibleProject for his own Studies That was cool
You two always amaze me. I mentioned, in response to a comment in my small group, that the world was created "good" not perfect . I think one person got it and my wife had no idea.
Milquetoast, comes from the early 20th century cartoon, featuring the character Caspar Milquetoast. A weak and passive man, who consistently folded in the face of confrontation.
"Vegeance is mine, says the Lord..." Jesus taught His followers to be nonviolent and leave retribution to God. The Father handed the Son over to receive the consequences of Humanity's rebellion. Therefore, He does not punish people's wrongdoings today. However, John 3:18 says that those who do not believe are condemned. They refuse to accept the forgiveness God offers through Jesus, therefore they receive the condemnation Jesus died to prevent. When Jesus returns to drive out all evil, they will be driven out too.
In order for these explanations to work, you must give up, to a certain degree, the concepts of the Lord's sovereignty and His holiness. The Lord is ultimately the one in charge of His own creation. We may not like or understand the Lord's wrath, but we certainly can't explain it away by suggesting that He is outsourcing it or whatever this explanation is. What is getting in the way of our restored relationship to our Creator? He is holy, and we are sinful. He has dealt with our sin and has made a way back to Him. He is at all times playing an active role in bringing us to repentance.
what happens when one does not read instruction manual of the newly purchased electronical device? ... like, submerging the phone in the water ... likely, it will not work anymore ... that is the consequence of our error (intentional or not) ... so called outsourced punishment of us acting against God's loving advise
