The theme of the chaos dragon raises some challenging questions. For instance, if God created a perfect world and humans messed it up, why did the dragon and the chaos waters exist at the beginning of the universe? Why would God allow the potential for chaos at all? In this episode, Tim and Jon discuss God’s goodness and the existence of evil, through the lens of the chaos dragon theme.

I paused like 40 minutes in to write out the metaphor as I understood it - because it suddenly made so much sense and blew my mind - but I should have just waited another ten minutes because then you guys came to the same exact description in real time. The mirror image of people and angels becoming evil by behaving like the animals and the dragons - which are innocent in themselves - is incredible

I was wondering- if the “costume” or symbol of those abusing power is a chaos dragon, would there be an equivalent symbol/costume for those who are being good stewards of their power/authority? I’m trying to think of what that might be, maybe there isn’t one…? I really love this series.

I think that the alternative is the image of God, who is order and life itself. It is a 'Jesus costume' who is self-giving love and lowing one's authroity to serve others. By innocently sucombing to the chaos dragon with non violence, there is vindication and freedom in the resurrection. The snake's head is crushed. Hope Tim and John talk about this later.
